I've seen a lot of these type of videos but I think your is the most detailed. Some videos didn't say you needed an AC to DC adapter and/or 12-24vdc. Great video
I remember learning how to do that back in April of last year when I first started collecting fire alarms I had trouble at first, but when I tried on another, DC power supply, it worked, and I was really amazed how I hooked up my first fire alarm and pull station and got it to work. I was using the notifier NBG 10 duel action and a wheelock RSS 24MCW i’ll never forget that day how I hooked up my first fire alarm without a panel or being mounted onto the wall and got it to work
I use a 24VDC adapter to wire up fire alarms individually (e.g. doing alarm reviews). Not only it will work with pull stations, but it can work with conventional smoke and heat detectors and even key switches!
You know I never thought about the possibility of doing this! I bet if you hardwired a good enough transformer you could power a whole string of pull stations and annunciators.
Yes you could wire pull stations but you need a panel for annunciators to operate. Did you mean alarms perhaps? Because yes you probably could have a whole string of pulls and notification appliances
@NIC'S - SYSTEMS & ELECTRIC i've always wondered if smoke alarms especially the gentex with the strobe can be wired to a pull station or even an alarm panel
I got a 4251/20 and I want to connect it to a fulleon roshni (there’s an FS branded one aswell) anything I need to do to use a American alarm with a UK sounder
@@nics-systems-electricso you would keep hooking the positive up to each alarm you add and have the negative go from the last alarm back to the negative on the pull station?
You know, with the BG 12, you actually don't need to flip the switch back up to reset it. When you close the pull station when resetting it without flipping the switch up manually, it will automatically flip the switch up.
Hey! I'm getting a wheelock 46t g6 and it needs 18-31 vdc. Can you send me a link for a good adaptor for it? If you search on eBay and click the pictures, you can see the back of the alarm for more info :)
Got a couple of questions (Note I will put a "U" for unrelated to this video) When you say when that AC kills alarms, does that mean you cant use AC devices like the Simplex 4050? (U) Is it possible to convert addressable to conventional? (If so can you do a video about it?) (U) Is there any known mechanical horns or Simplex 2903s in Canada? Is it possible to wire multiple alarms to one pull station or have many pull stations connecting to different alarms? Can you do different codings with alarms? (Like March Time)
You can use AC devices if you use an AC power supply I did convert an addressable station into conventional in a video I've done. And in an updated video I have also shown multiple devices activating an alarm.
Maybe if you are familiar with electronics you could create something or just buy a UPS but this set up is only for demonstrations shouldn't need back up power

As many as you want if your power supply is strong enough but if you’re using pull station as a switch probably shouldn’t go over five or six as a switch isn’t rated for high current
Could I run about 4 horn strobes (NS and ZNS), a RRS, and a simplex t bar off of a single adapter, I also will be running them at a distance so there will be a voltage drop, would this work, how much does the t bar, ZNS, NS, and the RRS pull?

Do a video on how to wire a fire alarm to a normal on/off switch (for those who don't have or can't afford pull stations) My fire alarm that I have has wires that connect from the on/off switch to the alarm's mounting bracket. The on/off switch is located outside on the single gang metal back box and the wires are inside of the single gang back box. Mine is a System Sensor P2R

I did this before I got my panel. It's the cheap way of doing it if you don't wanna spend a lot of money on a panel right away.
