      0:31 stations are old. I never saw these videos before well. Thanks for creating one. 0:25

    Awesome video! Keep up the great content.
    Conventional to addressable wiring can be a pain sometimes.
    Also I found that out myself about the Notifier key can open Fire-Lite devices, but Fire-Lite keys cannot open Notifier devices. That's quite the common flaw on many different panels I have seen.

    I think it's weird how we have standard connections for pretty much anything other than fire alarms. USB, 2-pin connectors, 4-pin connectors, I mean even desktop PCs have made everything plug-n-play. But fire systems? Just loose wires you have to plug into exactly the correct spot for them to work correctly.
    Standardize connections for fire systems, and everything becomes easier. Installing a system, upgrading it, diagnosing / fixing it, the whole shebang. And if you incorporate a low-power SBC (like a Pi Zero) and send it 5V when the alarms are going off, you can have a script send you a notification so you can be there in a heartbeat if the fire department wants you to correct your configuration.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  8 месяцев назад

      That's a completely different thing USB connections are 5 V fire alarms are 24 and much higher current. Fire alarm systems just like other electrical components are not meant to be something that is commonly removed it needs to be a solid connection as it is life safety

    So I guess i never really understood how these devices are wired. Is it all seperate wires for each device into the SLC, or does it all run off of one wire that is split until the EOL?
    I’ve wanted to go with an addressable system for the future. Just never really understood the wiring concept.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  Год назад

      There are videos out there that explain it way better than I can but it's just one set of wires other two or four depending on if it's a class a class B loop and if it's addressable there is no EOLR

    • @alarmtech5909
      @alarmtech5909 Год назад

      So when you say set of wires, you mean one seperate wire for each device running into the one SLC, right? My brain has a hard time processing some things so I ask for clarification purposes

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  Год назад

      @@alarmtech5909 no it is a set of two wires that travel around the building to stop at each device and at the end of the line if it's a class A system there are two wires that return back to the panel making it a complete loop

    Funny story. I was in school and things were normal for the most part periods 1,2,3,4,5 were normal during lunch the fire alarms went off because we had electricians adding new fire alarms to our school and someone tripped the alarm wire so everyone evacuated and we were out there for like 30 minutes because we had to wait for the fire department to clear the building and we had to find our home room teachers and we missed lunch so we ate it in 7th period and I’m in eighth grade and we had 25 minute classes because of state tests missed 6th period and missed lunch.
