Loved watching you open the box from SC. Born, raised and still live in Charleston. When I got married 50 years ago most brides received a rice steamer and a sweet grass basket. I still have both and use them all of the time

So happy to see the Route 66 back in stock! Will be making a couple of shirts for the hubby. I’m going to guess there are 10,987 bolts in the shop. I’m thinking this includes ALL bolts and not just cotton. I couldn’t imagine finding one of those whelks on our Oregon coast-so cool!
We live in Texas but traveling on business took us to Charleston, SC some years ago. While there, we learned about the history and heritage of the sweet grass weavers and brought back a little collection of them. Each basket is as individual as the highly skilled artisans that sign and weave them. And each one of them is heirloom worthy. Make no mistake, they can be quite expensive and rightly so! Seeing my collection brings back memories of the lovely people we met in SC and the great time that we had while we were there. Display your thoughtful sweet grass gift with pride and honor! ❤ 🙂❤

Good Afternoon from Western Australia. I can top your university story. In the suburbs of Perth, WA, there is suburb named Cockburn, the local authority is City of Cockburn, it is pronounced Co-burn. Named after one of first ships that arrive in Western Australia. In the Pilbara, the shire’s initials are, CoK, City of Karratha.

My dad (born and raised Oklahoma City in 1930s -50s) taught us girls to like our grits with fried eggs (soft centers), salt, pepper and fresh garden tomatoes - and plenty of ketchup. He loved to add fresh garden peppers and onions of all varieties. Cindi, when you wave the box cutter around in the air when you are talking, please pull the blade in - just like a rotary cutter, weird accidents can happen....and both of you are so precious, just take care. Loved the box of South Carolina goodies...California coast never produces big shells like that. Hard to imagine more than 12000 bolts in one shop but my guess would be 12,486 bolts.

I was laughing so hard at the SC mascot. My nephew graduated from SC and s my my husband a T-shirt with the mascot’s name is HUGE lettering across the chest! To this day, I have never let him wear it outside the house and that was 15 years ago!!!!😂

No, I don’t think they sell the pattern individually now. It’s in the book “it takes two“. It’s a really good book of multiple patterns that required two fat quarters. Pretty inexpensive, I think about 16 bucks.
