    Hello, is there a difference in the opacity or GSM of the paper between these two? I'd like to purchase one of these for an interleaved rebind project and wondered if buying the goatskin would be worth the additional cost since the cover will be cut off and will need to be regilded anyways.

    • @TheKJVStore
      @TheKJVStore  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your question. While Cambridge does not list the exact GSM of either edition, on the Goatskin Leather it states "It is printed on a smooth, opaque and resilient paper with Art-Gilt Edges" whereas it makes no such statement on the Split Calfskin edition. Judging by that, and the fact that the paper just "looks" nicer in the Goatskin, we would say it does use better paper if that's what you're looking for. Hope this is helpful.

    I have a goatskin Concord and Pitt Minion, but a calf split wide margin. One day when my wide margin is worn out and filled up with notes, maybe in 20 years considering it's over a year old and looks brand new still (a year plus of daily use), I'll upgrade to a goatskin wide margin.

    My mom told me the last bible I'll buy is the Allan Oxford Clarendon Brevier #8 but man now I want to get this, it is so much easier to read when the pages doesn't curve with wide margin.

    • @RoastBeefSandwich
      @RoastBeefSandwich 4 года назад +2

      Agreed, some reviewers praise Allen's thicker paper but I think Cambridge's is great and minimizes the amount of gutter space lost due to the pages curving toward the spine, because of the slightly thinner paper making for a thinner spine.

    Can you confirm if the paper is identical in both editions; goatskin and splitcalf?

    • @TheKJVStore
      @TheKJVStore  6 лет назад +5

      The paper does not appear to be the exact same quality. It appears slightly thicker and a "brighter white" on the Goatskin edition, which may also lend to it's increased flexibility over the Split Calf. Plus it just looks nicer when open seeing those Art-Gilt (Reddish) Page Edges which are very apparent and "pop" when the bible is open. Blessings.

    @kjvstore, do you know whether the references in KJV Cambridge, and even the R.L Allan, are from the KJV translators? Or were they added by publishers sometime afterwards? I may have missed that as I was skipping through the review.

    • @TheKJVStore
      @TheKJVStore  3 года назад

      Both Cambridge and R.L. Allan references were added by those various publishers (mostly in the 1800's and 1900's) after the fact. Cambridge University Press for Cambridge Bibles, and Oxford University Press for R.L. Allan Bibles (which exclusively use Oxford Reference Bible texts).

      Since we are The "KJV" Store, we only sell original, authentic King James Version Bibles. The original 1611 KJV uses the English name "God" not the Hebrew name "YHWH". Any bible that makes this switch or word change would no longer be the KJV / King James Version by default. We hope that makes more sense.

      We're a bit confused by your question. The bible in this video is the KJV Concord Wide Margin Reference Bible from Cambridge, so Yes, it is a KJV Bible. Then you asked about the "Doubleday Jerusalem Bible" which is out of print and we do not have a copy of, so we cannot give you an "honest comparison" of that vs. the KJV Concord Wide Margin in this video. Then you asked if we have a "1611 KJV with Apocrypha and the name "YHWH" that is compatible with "Allan Cambridge". as we explained if a "KJV" Bible used the term "YHWH" instead of the English name "God" then it would no longer be a KJV / King James Version Bible. Also, RL Allan and Cambridge are 2 different publishers so we don't know what you mean by "being compatible with the "Allan Cambridge".
      We also tried to point out the difference in the "1611 KJV" and the "Regular KJV" by pointing you to only 1611 KJV Bibles (as primarily only original 1611 KJV Bibles contain the Apocrypha). Perhaps this FAQ regarding 1611 Editions will be helpful: www.thekjvstore.com/help/#1611
