Can't believe The Librarian took down the Man-At-Legs with only 15 pikmin deaths on his first try AND 100% completion for all sublevels, that's honestly quite impressive
A neat fact 20:10 it’s actually not uncommon for militaries to put “general stores” on naval vessels with like regular snacks and such so I imagine they would make an underground store in an underground facility
Ngl building a secret facility under a park is actually kind of genius. Logistics are far easier to deal with because it's right in the middle of civilization and security isn't much of a concern because all of the entrances really do just look like generic maintenance. All you'd really need is some security guards to usher out the few people who get too curious
What scares me most about maps like this is that skilled map creators can literally script npcs and props that only disappear when you look directly at them or when you walk close enough to something and the worst part is sometimes they do I remember going through a foggy swamp rp map made for literally roleplaying and on the very edge of the fog they put the classic shadow man npc and it disappeared almost as soon as I could process it I’m telling you those developers are messed up (and very cool)
Dear librarian. Your content is an absolute blessing. I hope your channel NEVER DIES it deserves to be popular amongst the horror gmod fans like me. Keep up the great work my pal LONG LIVE LIBRARIAN!
I honestly think we have to be on the same wavelength. Every time i say to myself "i wish the librarian would play this." I see it sure enough pop up not too much long later. It was this way with outer wilds, little nightmares. I was just about to check and see if tou uploaded and sure enough, there you are. Thanks for all you do. @@DefinitelyNotATrolldier honestly what it feels like. Like even when I first decided to download and play project zomboid the next day he uploaded the first zomboid playthrough on his channel which was wild
This reminds me of the Houston tunnel system. It's a giant miles long sprawl of tunnels connected to hundreds of buildings that's got its own underground businesses and restaurants. You could probably live under there forever without needing to leave to get anything.
Librarian! its not Flushlod as one word, its Flush L O D. L O D stands for Level of Detail, it's the way that games save on resources when drawing things by replacing far away objects with lower detail versions of themselves. Sometimes games will hide models entirely at certain distances, which is why those models aren't showing up. When you flush the LODs it means you're replacing / recalculating the level of detail that should be used for the different models, letting them be visible again.
Have you considered playing games like Yume Nikki or Uneven Dream? Exploring and commenting on surreal dreamscapes seems to be your thing, so these games would be right up your alley.
It would be cool if you had your own Garrys mod skin like as a downloadable mod because you can see your hands in VR Like how you have your own skin in Minecraft
Commenting for the algorithm. Great video as always, Librarian! This map was a neat example of a not quite abandoned government building that still managed to be creepy and unique. Kudos to the mapper, guy knows his stuff clearly :)
37:21 I would have died if you turned and then looked back, and that thing was gone. I would have just said "how about no" and closed the game immediately
Hey Librarian, ever heard of the Simple Map IO Viewer addon for Gmod? I don't know how to explain it, but it's like a tool to view the inner workings of a map, the hidden stuff that makes things work. I tend to use it to check if a map has some hidden jumpscare easter egg because I'm really not fond of those lol. It could be a nice addition to the final no clip run of a map to see if you missed something of interest.
it's almost like a complex funded by a group with similar interests, and they're all doing their own thing around. that could explain the 2 separate parking lots
I think that this could possibly be a long term city wide nuclear bunker. When bombs drop from whoever the whole city will move underground and continue almost as normal, but in the safety of the bunker
I love how the map kinda picks at your mind and imagination, keeping you on your toes. I wanna keep track on things that you like or dislike about maps, things that startle you or scare you.
When I saw the blood mannequin I immediately thought "I wonder if the mannequins caused every one to leave like that portal mod." and then you said office job and I thought "Yeah that's it!"
Awesome video as always, are you planning to explore half life 2 RP maps in the future? Some of them have a nice dark atmospheric environments, Industrial 17 and city 8 being some of my favourites.
I've been 0laying this map for quite a but and it's pretty cool for some sandbox shenanigans since it has a navmesh and nodes. It's also got a cool atmosphere and a lotta places to explore, so it's pretty cool to see the librarian making a video of exploring :)
Woohoo, more gmod exploration! So cool that this and the last 2 are made by the same person! I wonder if there will be similarities... Always love the little stories you come up with to explain why the 'player character' is doing what they're doing. You hit all the horror tropes perfectly, lol
"It's like a bird feeder for humans!" Oh, that is being added to my lexicon immediately. Thank you. Btw, your voice sounded perfectly fine this video. Hope you're taking care of yourself! Breaks are important.
This map reminds me of bomb shelters in Finland that are large enough to house entire cities. Fortunately they never had to use them, so they just sit uninhabited until needed. It would be really cool to explore something like that.
I got a question: would you ever consider looking at old maps again? Subterran Complex got a update expanding it, with the description for the map mentioning hide areas, with a comment actually highlighting how the hide areas are important.
I love your expressions when encountering the unexpected. :) Definitely going to check this one out, as well as the Macy's Insane Asylum (I think it's called?). Thanks for the video.
I have some suggestion for a game, it probably has been suggested before or after me, but I'd be interested to see you play The Heilwald Loophole, also, nice video, as usual !
It’s also very “get in, spend money, get out” where I live and I loathe it. It’s such a detriment to society in general. The invention of the concept of “loitering” has done far more harm than good. Wish we all had some more spaces like that park.
Librarian, your vids are always so relaxing and intruiging, and honestly I'm inspired to make a mystery map myself as well. Dunno when it'll be done but I have already started :)
i feel like youd REALLY enjoy a mario 64 mod called "B3313", what seems like an early build of mario 64 has nearly infinite rabbitholes underneath the surface
If I seen this map in Pavlov *shack* or onward I would definitely play it with friends and even random people. Especially the creepy wall of statue people 😂 we would all probably shoot them as soon as we would see them.
Huh. Very interesting - while it's not even remotely a perfect fit for what this facility was FOR pre-abandonment... The bikes lying around, the long industrial hallways lined with pipes and not much else, the offices crammed in nooks and crannies wherever they will go, the radial symmetry of the facility, the oddball science bits lying around of varying degrees of age and advancement, and even the storeroom with a register (which could just be for tracking stock usage rather than actual purchases) put me HEAVILY in mind of the particle accelerator facilities dotted here and there around the globe, which are in the shape of big subterranean tori (toruses?) which the scientists most easily navigate on bicycles. Photos of those facilities are always wild to see, industrial tangles of pipes with white coated nerds cruising down the halls. If it IS a particle accelerator (a bit small for that to be fair, but perhaps it is one station on the accelerator loop) then perhaps the science fiction doomsday thing happened and a particle opened some kind of hole, through which SOMETHING crawled.
I have a theory. You mentioned vaguely hearing voices from that room, but not from the electrical equipment. I bet you it was from those pipes and they are ventilation ducts. Drawing fresh air in and old air out. The sounds of people talking and their voices floating up the pipes.
I think the first level was park maintenance. The second a mall under development. Maybe not abandoned, but the employees and construction team have gone home for the night. The cars left might just be from the team sent to keep an eye on things and whom have decided to go goof off somewhere.
This would explain the gates, they're intended to eventually be used for civilian access. Not all of them, but especially the garage ones. This makes a lot of sense to me.
The second parking garage lower level being dark also fits with my theory of an unfinished mall still being constructed. It might be dark simply because it hasn't been fully finished, or because why add to an electricity bill with a parking lot not currently in use. The cars on the top deck might be employees who are stuck doing work, security jobs, or who knows what else. I honestly think this might not be abandoned, Bob just said "Jerry's on closing duty." while Jerry was under the impression that Bob was.
Thanks again so much for playing! I'm really glad you liked this map and noticed small details in every room, that's just awesome! :D
A great video for a great map. Nice work as always! :)
