Duke Nukem showing up in a beat up taxi cab out of nowhere, before coming to a screeching halt looks like a cutscene ripped straight out of Duke Nukem: Forever

It’s crazy to believe a map of this scale and detail was possible in Gmod, especially when most of us grew up playing rp_downtown, I can imagine this place bursting with people with cars and helicopters and in all those streets and little stores in one of those 50-75 slot servers like that used to exist a few years ago…
I genuinely think that RP_NYCity_Day is way better. It has such a nice feeling, like a cold day in 2000 New York City. This is my favorite Garry's Mod map, actually, just source map in general. The amount of detail and love put into this map is surreal, there are times where the map looks like Grand Theft Auto IV, whilst there are other times (mostly in in-closed space) where it looks like GTA V
Too me, the day version feels so much more atmospheric and New York-y feeling, especially in the Manhattan side of the map. I honestly like the night version better, but they’re both great maps overall.
there is a alien isolation movement tracker device that I think adds a ton of creepy atmosphere. most of the time the display stays empty but if a creator placed a moving npc somewhere and the tracker suddenly starts detecting it's so eerie

Also, you didn’t check inside of the river if your character in VR can swim. But other than that. What an awesome amazing looking map on Gerry’s Mod. Whoever the Developers of this map is. They did a really excellent job. All it’s missing is AIs and Vehicles. Other than Duke Nukem as a Taxicab Driver. That was hilarious to see. Duke getting lost driving you from point A to point B.
I absolutely love the Deus Ex vibes. The Dojo @ 1:14:10 reminded me of the one where Morpheus trained Neo. Upstairs boardroom reminded me of Pierce & Pierce where they showcased business cards. Very 2000's. There are so many stories and thoughts that occur when exploring such a place. This mod is a masterpiece.
22:14 That's definitely the alley that the bouncers would throw you out into for trying to get into the VIP area, because that's where the mob boss and his crew would hang out.

Also a little bit from the first map of the first hitman game, though more in general style than actual layout 1:36:26 is the entrance hallway from the matrix showdown, only without the metal detectors.
I have been longing for you to review this map, and the wait has been worth it. I didn’t even realize I was watching an almost 2 hour long video. The thing you said about how maps look completely different depending on what you're trying to do reminded me of how a while back I got bored in GTA Online and started riding a BMX bike around the city. I found so many little areas and pathways that were just too tight or rough to be useful for a car.
If i may make a suggestion on a map, i would suggest rp_UnionCity, it is made by the same person who made NYCity and SouthSide, has a functional metro system and would complete the exploration trilogy on all of Fishke's maps
One of my favorite maps! I’ve got a save where I decorated a lot of the places. I snagged one of those swanky lofts as my home, and fully furnished it. It definitely feels like the comfy part of comfy and creepy. I put a bunch of supercomputer cabinets in the blue room atop the Japanese skyscraper-I figure it’s the AI that actually runs Z corporation. In the bank vault, I spawned in a bunch of pallets of money. The new and used car dealerships have cars for sale. I even added donuts to the desks in the police station. I think you found most or all of the interesting places in this map. I absolutely love the night clubs in this series of maps. Lots of RP maps have them, but these ones actually have working DJ booths. Why rob stores and banks when you can just party instead? Oh, and you though it was strange that the hotel rooms didn’t have bathrooms? The MANSION doesn’t have one! Even those squalid tenements have a toilet in each unit to take a dump, but Rich Cashdollar has to go out behind a tree or something.
This map is a lot of fun when me and my friend play on it, we like to drive around in the GTA 4 simfphys cars and try to escape from the Recklessly driving Kleiners, they are pretty terrifying when theres a lot of them trying to chase you down in these big streets and narrow alleyways.
This map is just amazing!! The detail is amazing! Many of the places on it are reminiscent of places/locations from other maps/games you played on the channel; even the shorter job simulator games. Other places look similar to locations from movies; the vault towards the end reminds me of an Ocean's Eleven movie or some type of movie of that ilk. It looks very familiar. The dojo 1:14:00 *definitely* reminds me of the dojo from The Matrix where Neo first learns to download Kong Fu; it looks similar, certainly the vibe is similar due to the lighting and the geometry of the room. -This was fun, thanks for playing it!

This is the first time I have ever gone in there, and will likely remain the only time I ever step foot in that business for a variety of reasons. First thing I notice. The overwhelming smell of urine. Oh, she had so many dogs, man. I instantly hated being in there, it stunk so bad. Second thing. I was standing on a covered porch. This was her home. Which leads me to believe she's been there for a while because every other building in this area is commercial property. The lady was nice enough, though. If I am remembering correctly, the tip was also moderately decent. Tarot lady tipped better than the nurses I delivered to, that's for sure lol.
Random thought, but a laserpointer swep would be kinda funny for these videos. Have the flashlight out in dark areas, then whip out the laser pointer when talking about something like you're giving a presentation in a boardroom
With maps like these, I can't help but subconsciously looking both ways before crossing the street. I guess even a Halo Reach Skirmisher (my preferred player model) must concern themselves with traffic. Never know when a rogue Spartan (or a washed up Duke) might come speeding along and almost run you down. :P
I absolutely loved this. This video has made me a subscriber. Also, this map is incredibly cool and large. I was so shocked that you could actually go in the Brownstones. I'd loved wandering this map or seeing it in actual use.
I wish there was actual good RP on these maps. They have so much incredible detail and cool interactions, with Union City, South Side and this map all combining it could be fun playing all three, but no servers run them

One of the most impressive Garry's Mod maps i've seen so far. So big and detailed on one side and on the otherside incredibly well optimized. Reminds me of Max Payne or Vampire: The Masquerade. Just listen to some Type O Negative and explore everything! Only thing i don't like: Since it's an rp map, basically everything is empty with very little environmental storytelling etc. Of course it's because these maps are made for the players to tell their own stories, but a bit more stuff to discover, some basic furniture in apartments etc. and a few more secrets would have been nice.
Holy crap I'm accidentally early! Hi Librarian! Think I've been subbed since right before you started doing GMod VR. So happy to see how much you've blown up in the past two years!

19:18 oh! I would really love if you could play this map called "Resort Madness". It is one of the most detailed maps I've ever seen in Garry's mod and probably my favorite.
Wow! Just when I was getting into, and exploring Southside, I discover this video! Now, I've got to go get this map! Geez. I'm going to be at it all day! But I wouldn't have it any other way! Love exploring stuff like this. Thanks for posting.

hell yeah, an urban environment at night is always great to watch!
This is one of the most detailed gmod maps I've ever seen, it's insane!
I just love the feeling of these maps, this one in particular is just mind blowing
Holy crap I'm accidentally early!
Hi Librarian! Think I've been subbed since right before you started doing GMod VR. So happy to see how much you've blown up in the past two years!
Man your voice is so calming. Falling asleep while listening your voice is the best!
Love your videos--you have such an enjoyable and soothing voice and your narration is always thought provoking :D I love to put on your videos while I am painting ... Please never stop!
19:18 oh! I know someone who is a professional psychic, the way it works, (at least how it did for her) is that there's a business who hires people to be psychics, the psychics themselves don't own it but instead work there, she's not been doing that for a while but iirc she could technically do it whenever she wants
that’s neat
Babe wake up the librarian just dropped a new Gmod VR exploration
I would really love if you could play this map called "Resort Madness". It is one of the most detailed maps I've ever seen in Garry's mod and probably my favorite.
You didn't find every single building that was explorable. There's a rundown little apartment behind the "Grocery & Deli" store.
1:44:37 Did he really just call Bethesda "Batheesda?"
Wow! Just when I was getting into, and exploring Southside, I discover this video! Now, I've got to go get this map! Geez. I'm going to be at it all day! But I wouldn't have it any other way! Love exploring stuff like this. Thanks for posting.
Chinese restaurant has music from Deus Ex ! 🔥
This helps me fall asleep 👍
As a person who lives in New York this map is a 9/10
Not enough piles of garbage on the sidewalks for it to be NY
i don't usually do it, but this makes me wanna rp in this lil neat world
I know what that man references. I play with subtitles and yes I do see a Narative telling me a door has opened when I never touched any doors myself.
10:03 "well, what are you gonna do about it?" Libby said calmly.
I love putting you on in the background while playing a game such as, Half life 1/2/Alyx, Gmod and anything such as
8.5/10 video :)
20:46 i was like you WHAT until you explained it was because of john wick
