ProRes RAW Part 1: What is ProRes RAW and Why Should You Care?

ProRes RAW is an incredible new way to capture your footage and you should at least know about it! In this multipart series I'll break down what ProRes RAW is, how to record ProRes RAW and how to work with the footage in post production.

Before this video I was thinking about using it but now I see that it’s mainly for editing purposes and it does not increase any quality really if everything is exposed perfectly. Very happy with this because it makes me feel less like I’m missing out on the quality!

I've been shooting DIY and social type videos for 20 years and I have heard of ProRes and "I shoot RAW" and I never knew it captured a range of ISO an other stuff - now with your video I finally understand the benefits and how it is possible in post to recover blown out images but also the file sizes are beyond my wildest imagination! You did a better job than h.264 at compressing the complexity of this codec while still retaining a usable final product.
