Not quite as fun as running in as a Nord duel wielding axes and wearing nothing but a Talos medallion, but effective. However, you're unlikely to be able to permanently defile the embassy by sitting your unwashed butt on every piece of their furniture if you go this route.
Tips to anyone trying to do this: -you’ll have to wear the Hodded (not unhooded/standard) robes for it to work. -you can walk around freely but don’t linger/backtrack or they’ll attack -you have to pass a speech check with the guard to the solar or else he’ll (and everyone else will attack you). -when you enter the solar, they’ll see through your disguise instantly and attack (unless you get the guard to leave, wait until you’re not detected and then sneak enter)(have yet to try this so not fully sure)?

Really bro? The thalmor are easy. You can start by getting the lord stone to block some magic. High resistance to magic cancels half your problems trust me 😎
Funny thing is, the game only checks if you have on ONE piece of Thalmor armor equipped for this. I walked in there once just wearing elven boots, and they didn't even bat an eye.
I still remember this quest when I forgot to wear the robes. Robes inside are bugged iirc. Good thing there's a dragon attack and it roasted the Thalmor in the courtyard. Another playthrough, it's Durnehviir time.

I dunno but in oldrim with USLEEP it works with this condition: side with the Imperials, ask gen. Tullius to get the pardon letter, then bring it to the Thalmors. Voila

I’ve been playing my dark elf account mostly, and she’s got all mage skills except restoration to 100, so I might try it with her too since 100 in illusion magic can get you through just about anything without a fight. I’ve had the most fun playing as a high elf and a Dunmer, but I think the Dunmer is my favorite, in spite of the nasty comments, lol. I don’t get treated nearly as bad as an elf as I did the one time I played a khajit. 😂 They’re horrible to the khajits, lol.
I hope in future elder scrolls they will add a transmute spell that can change your race without giving you racial bonuses, it would actually be lore accurate and there are a lot of possibilities with such mechanic since there are lots of organisations that employ specific races.
Same, there's a Aldmeri Dominion quest in ESO where you must use an illusion ring to pretend to be someone else for a mission like this, Razum-Dar becoming the queen and getting all 👀 with himself always cracks me up when i do it
Did this quest again 2 weeks ago and just blasted everyone with high destruction magic. It sucks you can't sneak in even if have high sneak or invisibility potions.
You can definitely sneak with invisibility (spell or potions) and for the Justiciar at the door, you can use a Paralysis potion as a non-lethal way to pass him.
Anyone who doesn't do this quest as a Breton or Nord using a no shout cooldown and shouting apart every single high elf at the embassy doesn't know what fun is
I like that High Elf’s Beard! lol, when I was a Nord, they spotted me right away, but with a high elf was better! I tried with a Dark Elf and they commented on my height!

So that's why there was a pair of thalmor robes placed perfectly on top a table in that room across the hallway...I wanna try this but...I like collecting elven/glass armor/weapons, I got better stuff but thalmor stuff always looks shiny to me.
I remember doing this mission at level 25 and these guys hit hard. I said I'll come back later. At level 72 I went back to the Embassy and killed everyone with fire storm and blizzard. Yes I had to use TCL.

What sucks is it wouldn't have been that difficult to implement a system like this for each race. Wear the Faction clothing/armor and be ignored/accepted especially if your race matches up. Imperials, Stormcloaks, Al'Akir(sp?). Khajiit caravans could give you a discount if you're a cat, Dark Brotherhood has an extra few water-dungeon missions if you're an Argonian. Orc strongholds could have missions only available if you're an orc, etc.
In the very first game I forgot to let Malborn hide my equipment that I want to get inside and the whole task I had to sneak and fight with what I could find. I died about twenty times, but it was great fun
In this mission you can do full stealth mission IF you high elf. If you not it wont. I heard some people said you can do that too with using other race but because skyrim bugged game in first place the thalmor instantly aggressive and you can't do stealth.
The fun part is, when you play as a Argonian (i suppose its the same for khajiits) they are like "wait ! Is that a tail ??"

You can also pretend to be thalmor by wearing the justiciar robes if you are not high elf but if you get close enough to them they will attack you.
