@@light3267 You can get 2x16GB of DDR5-6000 CL30 for about $130. The 13900K is about $40 cheaper than the 7900X3D. At best for that price difference you're getting DDR5-6400 CL32. The cheapest 2x16GB DDR-7200 CL34 I've seen is $220. Also, from what I've seen the scaling on memory for the 13900K, while present, isn't especially significant. Hi Michael, thanks for this video. Would love to see an additional video on the new 7800X3D if you do get ahold of one as it does differ in chip architecture.
So the Ryzen is 300Mhz slower here, and consuming much less power, yet beats the Intel chip fairly convincingly. That said, I will be sticking with my Ryzen 5800X3D and RTX 3080 Ti for the foreseeable future.
I think the 5800X3D is AMD's own worst enemy. After looking at the gains for the 7900X3D/7950X3D in MSFS over the 5800X3D isn't not worth the upgrade. I have it myself it was a game changer in MSFS but didn't really do much for me in xplane. I also went from a 6900xt to a 4080 and running frame generation is game changer there as well in MSFS. If you went from a 3080ti to the 4000 series you would see a difference in MSFS. But if you're just using the 3080ti just in Xplane 11/12 then yea not worth upgrading.
@@Cdawg-vb7no I only game at 1440p, so the 3080ti is fine for me to be honest. I do have MSFS, but I prefer x-plane. I run that with triple 1440p screens on two PCs.
Hi, from what did you upgrade to a 5800x3d please ? I’m considering this cpu for fixing some cpu bottleneck on several games including xplane. I currently have a 5800x
One thing to mentionned for the future buyers of the 7900x3D CPU is that this magic cache is not apply to all of his core instead of the 7800x3D wich does. When MSFS 2024 will be out and Laminar's team will (at last I hope ! Ben , pleaaaaase !) use all the core of the CPU for their sim (it's sure now for MSFS2024), the 7800 X3Dwill be a better match for flight simming (even with less freq ).
Hi Mike, Why wouldn't you use higher settings that put more demand on both CPUs, looks like you have the ability to raise the sliders a bit more. Also, what would be the bottleneck if you maxed out XP12? Thanks
I couldn't see much between them. The AMD running a few % faster on frames, and less energy. Other than that pretty close I'd say. I'm wondering how a 7900X would compare with the 3D variant on AMD chip. Thanks for the video
Dear Michael, For a new build I’m debating between the 7800x3d and the 13600k for XPlane. Any recommendations or tips please? I’ll be using a RTX 3080. Thank you
I'm currently with an i7 8700K and a RTX 2080 XCII should I upgrade for a 7900X3D and 4090? I'm thinking about getting into VR in the near future. I mostly play DCS and Flight Simulator.
Yes, its a great side by side. But I really really wish he would do something like this for MSFS. I have $3000 cash ready to go for him, but I really need help to determine the best system/upgrades to buy from his company - alas I dont have xplane.

Hi, i have a laptop, 5900HX and Radeon 6700M, i installed latest drivers and the performance has tanked a lot When i install drivers 22.5.1 to 22.8.2 it works flawlessly From 22.10.1 and later the performance drop is huge Any tips?
Very interesting! Pretty much the same spec machine (with intel) I was looking at building except maybe doing 64gb of that spec ram. I thought the fps was going to be significantly higher with that GPU/processor combo. Is it even possible to run a 4k display at 60fps consistently down low with surrounding objects??
Hey Michael, Thanks for all your insights. Any tips for stuttering in vr xp12. System ryzen 5600x 3070 32 gb 3200 RAM. Runs well with smooth 50fps in 2D but locks at 20 on vr. Looks excellent and smooth on screen but stutters when looking sideways or turning. Some days it smooth and others it's rubbish. Ocukus Rift 2. Works beautifully on DCS. Note DCS is going multi threaded soon. Apparently quite the performance boost from those doing beta testing. FYI. Speak to Austin please. Haha we want it :) Thanks in advance 😀
Your first bottleneck is the graphic card. Remember that in VR the GPU has to calculate two 3d images instead of one. I have a 5700x with a 4070 Ti which is just powerful enough for the Quest 2 (fluid i and playable in game). Next time I change my cpu for a 7800x3D. I'm waiting for AMD's next cpu generation in few months (the price of the 7800X3D will drop). You can still get more FPS in your actual setup but you'll have to lower your graphical settings.
Happy to see the AMD ahead, always good if the underdog catches up, creates a healthy balance on the market. I also see why I don`t ever start my X-Plane installation, when I look at its graphics, that seem to have been stuck in time at least a decade ago. Though I also have to say that graphics isn't everything, regarding an overall simulator performance, but the rest isn't that much realistic either.
Thanks for you always honest and informative vids Michael. Good to see AMD stepping up to the plate. Near identical performance. AMD 7900X3D a few FPS more on avarage. Thanks for sharing, Michael, very informative.

Intel is not overly sensitive to RAM speeds. I would not worry about it. The most you would gain is 5-10%.

I like the AMD systems MUCH better as a more versatile computer. And Intel's history is enough for me to avoid giving them a single penny...
How are the 1% lows between the two CPUs?
