What brand toilet paper do you buy for RV or camping?
I don't own an RV, but usually bring regular toilet paper when we go camping.
Been using Scott comfort plus for awhile and never had issues!
I saw a video by that compared TP for RVs and then a Walmart brand TP and the Walmart brand dissolved the best. Who’d a thunk it?
@@drummergirl9481 Proof you're paying more for NOTHING! Thanks for sharing. :)
I have been using Angel Soft for a couple of years after seeing a similar video on I Love RV Life. Based on what came out when I got a Poop Shower because of a leaky black tank valve, I can say it dissolves very well.
A popp shower sounds awful! After this toilet paper test, I agree Angel Soft dissolves better than most!
Thank you for your video. When I was getting my Bachelors degree in Forestry I took a tour of a paper manufacturing company. At the time they also produced toilet paper. I asked the company representative why toilet paper was always white. He graciously bypassed the obvious crude answer of “So you know when you are done” and explained that wood fibers contain lignin which is what gives wood its strength. They use a bleaching agent (sodium hydroxide I believe) to remove lignin to make the tissue soft enough for consumer use. It also makes the paper white. The more lignin is removed the softer the tissue becomes. This also aids in breakdown once immersed in water. He also added that they could make tan colored toilet paper but the majority of the consumers want white toilet paper.
That is very interesting! Thank you so much for sharing. Is there a way to know how much lignin is in the toilet paper?
@@FreewayFlippers I don't know for sure. However, I believe you've done a great job showing what is important to know when comparing toilet paper for use in an RV. Thanks, again.
OK, I have another one to toss in the test. I have used Charmin Ultra Soft 3 ply but mostly Quilted Northern 3 ply along with Walex green for years without issue. We got a different RV in March and are have difficulty draining the black tank as it seems to dam or clog. So I assumed due to a design difference in the new RV that maybe this paper was not suitable. So along with your test and my own research I decided to buy Cottonelle 2 ply. It was the only one that on the label not only "septic safe" but "will not clog". I did a few tests with 1 cup of water and 3 squares of paper. the Cottonelle was TERRIBLE and the Quilted # PLY Northern broke down nicely. This was without vigorous agitation. So I'm going to keep using the Northern but have changing the tank treatment to Happy Camper to see it better digest. If that doesn't work I'm switching to Digest It. Thanks!
That's really interesting. Hopefully the combo of Quilted Northern + Happy Camper works. Thanks for sharing!
I appreciate this!!! I only wish you had also included the Kirkland brand toilet paper as well. Claims to be spetic safe but I have my doubts.
That would be a good brand to test along with Walmart!
Thanks, I am new to RVing and heard there were brands that worked better than RV TP. I will try the Angle soft.
Lots of experienced RVers suggested Angel Soft. We never had any issues with it. Thanks for watching!
Looks like Angel Soft should sponsor your travels!
+Aussie Addicts That would rock! 😂👍
Thanks for sharing. There really is no such thing as "RV toilet paper" per se. That is just a marketing ploy used by the toilet paper companies to trick people into thinking they need to spend extra money on a specialty product when it is not necessary. Any one-ply toilet paper like Scott's 1000 or something similar would work just fine in an RV holding tank, as would Angel Soft. You would just want to avoid the "premium" 2-ply or 3-ply toilet papers like Charmin Ultra or Quilted Northern which are much thicker and take longer to dissolve.
We learned that real quick. The price of the "RV toilet paper" is much higher and not needed. Thanks for watching!
PS - Love your name!
Thank you-very helpful! Just what I was looking for today. Funny, I know, but good dissolvable tp is a priority:)
Oh good! We actually use Angel Soft at our house because we're on septic. 🙂
Took your advice and bought Angel Soft. Much cheaper than regular RV toilet paper!
It is! Sometimes Walgreens has good deals on it.
thank you. my septic backup due to TP (I think). I'll start using Angle Soft
We use it at our house that is on septic and haven't had issues!
Angle soft is a septic system safe, when my drain field was plugged I used charmin, been using it in my camper for 2 yrs camper toilet paper made my butt hurt so changed paper and it worked.so if you got a sore ass every time you go camping change your paper.
Thanks for sharing! Paper can make a difference.
Thank you for this. So tired of my home’s old plumbing. I’m going to give angel soft a try
We have septic where we live and use Angel Soft still. Also bought a Bidet which is magical! Highly recommend both. 🙂 This is the one we use. Really reduces how much toilet paper we use. amzn.to/3TBjspb
@@FreewayFlippers I just bought a cheap one last night to give it a try. The one you linked looks much nicer
I live in my RV full time and have been using scott comfort plus and never had any issues. Today I had no choice but to buy angel soft and did so with hesitation. I'm so glad I watched your video because i was worried I'd need to return it but now I'll give it a try!
I was shocked when I did the toilet paper test - we now live in a house on septic and that is all I buy.
Interesting test. I would also go further and add a little of the liquid dissolver to each one. We've always used Scotts RV, but at home we're the Members Mark from Sams club users, so I'd like to see that one test.
That would be a good test! Thanks for the tips.
@@FreewayFlippers We wanted to see some real world testing like you did. We've always used Scotts, but if we can save money all the better. Thanks.
Saving money is always good!
You should try adding a tissue resolver like you do in your tank to get best results.
Haven't tried that before, thanks for the tip!
You have to use the “charmin sceptic safe 2ply”. Not all Charmin is the same.
Good to know, thanks for sharing!
thanks for the video! was glad I stumbled across it!
Thanks for watching! 🙂
I thank you for this information, I have been purchasing either the Scott or Camco rv tp. Now I know and knowing is half the battle.
You're welcome! We use Angel Soft at our new house that is on septic, too!
Thanks, GI Joe!
My opinion, they weren't equally agitated. I use Scott.
Thanks for sharing!
Holy smokes. It a Dave Grohl female version. Thanks for the upload. #3:12
I hope that's a compliment 🤷♀️🤣
Very interesting. I wonder if it makes a difference with the chemicals we put in the tanks?
That is a good question. Now I wish we would have done that. I need to redo the experiment. 😂
Freeway Flippers did you redo the experiment
🧻Scott thin sheets-- no soft,no strong-- they clump.
Thanks!
@@FreewayFlippers the 💲store version for $2.25 works too, or the green type of thin 2 ply🧻
Thanks for that!
Of course!
I was thinking about switching to Angel Soft but they have changed their formula to a NEW 20% thicker so no longer is a good option.
They did? Does it show on their packaging?
@@FreewayFlippers Most likely will say "now 20% thicker". Looks like Cottonelle is a choice for many.
Good to know, thanks!
Where and I get a pack of angel soft?
Should be at Walmart or any grocery store. We always were able to find it on the road.
How many ply's were each one?
I cannot recall how many ply's in each one.
Awesomeness!
What RV toilet paper do you buy?
@@FreewayFlippers we buy Scott's but not the RV kind, its from Publix , does say 8x the breakdown lol seems to work great, I did a 24 hr test.
You should use paper towels please
Use paper towels?
Do all your brands say septic safe
This video was a long time ago, pretty sure I picked only ones that specified septic safe.
I hate RV toilet paper. Most of it is like sandpaper.
Omg yes! That's why we were excited that Angel Soft dissolved just as fast/faster. So much better than that Camco crap!
HA!!! waste your time - I see what you did there
🤷♀️😂
