Four years full time boondocking on the move, Unique has been an incredible product but always open to trying new stuff that is not a chemical scent bomb.
First test and second test same results. I would suggest to all the people that want better or different, please feel free to run your own tests and share your results with us. Todd, you guys do a great job.
Thank you for the support!
I use Unique, have done so the last year and have zero issues. Breaks down great, flows out just fine when dumping. The clear elbow on the end of my sewer hose helps see how great this product is. Safe travels!!
See, that wasn't so hard! I'll give props to Matt's product but still have about 1/2 gallon of RV product to go. Might even try alternating between the two. Thanks for a fair and HONEST test.
I love my Two Minute Tech Tuesdays.
I’ve been using unique for four years. I have no complaints just saying.
I have been full-timing for 14+ years and Liquified was the clear winner. I was stubbornly holding on to my belief that Happy Camper was going to be the clear winner, but noticed that Happy Camper was taking 4 scoops in order to even come close to the same performance ... I digress! Liquified dissolved into tiny pieces all of the less-than-perfect brands of TP so that we had no more build-up in our tank. It DID NOT do anything for our gray tank which was experiencing a buildup of grease on our sensors. Liquified needs to come up with a gray tank cleaner as well. -Davey
why couldn't you just add Liquified to the grey tank?
@@dwaineesch1344 I did double the dose in the gray tank twice over a couple of weeks, but it did nothing for the sensors in the gray tank, grease takes different chemicals to remove it.
@@KU9L thank you for the information. I was not aware different chemicals were needed for grease in the grey tank.
@@dwaineesch1344 After 14+ years of full-timing we haven't figured out all of the answers or even close, but grease appears to be another nemesis of the waste tanks that need a better solution. More tests are needed for sure.
My understanding is they are working on it!
Great video. Definitely give credit to Matt's RV Reviews for a great product and leave it to a guy who's famous quote is "Prime pooping position". I wish this product was around back in 2021 for our rental class A coach.
Congratulations, Matt.
thank you thank you i ABSOLUTELY love how i learn and have fun in ALLLLLL your videos
Terrific and fun as always, Todd. Continued success to you.
Way to go Matt!
Great job, Todd
Thanks for this test! I tried unique and ended up with smell and went back to my aqua Ken blue. I will try liquified this year.
To be completely scientific there should have been a third sample with just water to see how much it dissolves with no product at all. This would be the control group.
Thank you for the comment. Did you see our previous video where e did just that? Here's the link!
ruclips.net/video/Kf-YjId-v-c/видео.html
Actually to be completely scientific he would've used two separate teaspoons thereby not contaminating the "Liquified" sample with the "Digest-It", but why not have a deliberate test of both products combined to begin with, in addition to your precious control group? Enzymes are critical for digestion but so are probiotics, so I don't understand the purpose of restricting this experiment to an "either or" scenario.
Not that I care, I just teleport my black tank contents into a black hole via interdimensional portal technology.
A youtube video isn't a scientific paper. Hard to see how the two could be confused.
Thanks for the info!
Hi Todd, 5 months later, I purchased the Unique before watching this vid and decided to go ahead and use it this year,
Each time I dumped the tank it only took one maybe two complete fill & drains of the tank for the clear elbow to be clean running tank water.
After two complete fill & drains of the tank with clean water so to test the difference best I could, half way into the trip I switched over to a drop in packet style of tank treatment,
Not pleased, not near the break down of solids or paper in the same time period between dumps,,, and within two days my sensors started to misread leading to several stops only to end up draining a 1/4 full tank.
To use Unique you have to pre treat the tank to remove the enzyme based treatments before using a bacteria based treatment I was stuck finishing the trip out using the packet treatments.
At one stop, I flushed the tank several times and solids were still present, where as with the Unique when finishing the second flush there were none seen in the clear dump elbow section of my dump hose.
Home now and using the Unique pretreatment, that I had also already purchased, to clean the tank of the packet formula
Due to the expense of the products I will wait until the Unique is used up before trying the Liquified.
As far as odor is concerned, if you have the air conditioning on or a roof vent fan it's going to draw the odor up out of the tank when flushing, I suggest that you shut off the fans & AC during the use of the toilet so it's not near as bad.
I used Unique this last summer. It did very well at breaking down the waste, but I was not impressed with the Oder elimination(or lack of)! I am definitely going to try Liquified this summer.
Thank you NRVTA for taking the time to make this experiment and sharing it.
Our pleasure!
Been using Liquified, It works well. I’ll stick with it.
It’s like you guys were in my head, THANK YOU for doing this! Can you test the unique drop in tablet pouches also? Thanks! Also good luck measuring out the right amount with unique digest it.
Saw this video right at the time for me to re order my treatment supply. I've been using RV Digest-It for years with absolutely no problems. Think I'll try out Liquified this time around. Avid (addicted) fan of Tech Tip Tuesdays! Keep it up y'all!
Thanks Todd great video. I will try Matt's Liguifier.
Excellent video…!
Thank you sir.
Great video Todd, and agree with your analysis but water is your friend. Good (tested) chemicals, good level of fluids, good rinse is your friend.
Its no real poop, but close. Great video. Thank you.
Great analysis Todd. The problem addressed by a Guy who does tank cleaning for a business with many years of experience claims this slurry created by both products coats the walls of tank creating overtime a large layer which will shut off the tank sensors.
User Unique last year and worked well but still had occasional odors while traveling. Going to try liquify now after your testing. Thank you so much for the great content and straightforward presentation. Have 3 ladies, DW and 2 daughters so the toilet paper is key for me!
Thanks for sharing!
We use aqua max not only in the black tank, we put it in the gray tanks. We have noticed it help with the sensors too have it in the tanks as we travel. Definitely helps with kitchen gray tank from not smelling so bad.
Thanks for the comment!
when dumping black tanks, does sludge exit the tank like solid would? To me, it seems like the sludge would just settle at the bottom of the tank.
I have used Digest for years (weekly dump schedule) and have found it to work well. I'm looking forward to trying Liquified. I appreciate the exposure to a new product, that has been tested rather than just shamefully promoted.
Thanks for sharing!
Todd, we have a newer RV with macerating toilets so TP and "solids" are not an issue. Also the tank sensors are external so buildup has not been an issue. We typically dump every 5 days but only add a product about once a month with water while driving. Just wondering if any of your recommendations or testing would be different in this situation. Thanks!
We use RV Digest It and it works well for us.
We don't have odor problems at all using it.
I'm sure others will like something else so just use what works for you.
Good morning Todd, it was interesting to hear that Unique needs a deodorizer additive, must have something to do with them residing together before use, I will have to get some for my testing this year.
The "comment" section testimonials are also very helpful and I think that's where we're going to find our "Real World" results.
Not until you do a video on this topic do you get that feedback so thanks for taking the time to put together this video.
Maybe compile a file of those to refer to,
Also maybe a co-operational/interview video with real world tank cleaning companies and independent tank service people to get their "Very Real World" feedback.
Some comments have stated that you didn't agitate the test tanks and that would change the results, well for those people, you would have to drive like a nut case to get much agitation in the tanks,
I've seen a test done that way too and it made no difference so when you tell your story to the state cop be sure to tell them that you're testing your holding tank treatment.
For those wondering about the treatments helping clean sensors, maybe in the gray tank if you rinse a LOT of grease off your cookware, but if your sensors are not working then 99% of the time it's an electrical issue, the ones I've fixed just needed the wire connections cleaned & secured.
they're exposed to a lot of road dirt & salt
Again, thank you Todd & company for your efforts.
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great test, it is amazing how many people want to critique and complain about your process. Funny thing, there were two commercials during the video, one was for champagne and had a girl singing "go, go. go," and the second, Taco Bell.
i have been using happy camper with good results... Any comparison on that?
Looks like Liquified works slightly better, but it looks like either one will work just fine.
I have to say that I’ve never had a problem with any product that I have used over several decades including breaking down RV toilet paper into tiny pieces, as long as I use enough water and flush my tank properly👍
Thanks for sharing!
Last summer we did a Month long trip traveling S.E. through the Carolinas and Florida then onward to the gulf states in 100 plus degree weather. We do the Borax, water, dawn treatment every time we flush out the system bout weekly. during that travel time not only do we get the agitation when moving the trailer. but we have noticed when dumping viewing through the clear sewer connection it is all broken down and have never had an odor issue. we use a gal of water to a cup of borax and a few ounces of dawn. what are your thoughts on the Borax, water, dawn combination
… I use Liquified a few times for my grey & gallery tanks. I use Green Gobbler (for RVs) in my black tank. Still had a bit of oder…Kleen Tank RV company said use a good amount of water when flushing. The smell reduced since flushing w/more water.
Still having some odor issues here. Is it safe to add some detergent or dish soap to a black tank treated with Liquified?
Is there any benefit in using these produces for the weekender that gets to go camping only a few times per year?. Would it be a good idea to add about 5gals of water and one of these products to an empty tank between camping weekends?
My black tank break down is great . i concerned to not put a oder handler that kills the good bacteria. Which had better oder control?
GO LIQUIFIED!!!!!
I would have been interested in seeing a 3rd bowl with just water for comparison
Never mind, I just saw the previous video that compared it to plain water.
Any testing as to whether Liquified is good at cleaning sensors? I am currently using the GEO method (Happy Camper, Dawn, and Borax) and that is working well but sensors are still an issue
Todd how about a video comparing laminate floors to 5/8" tongue & groove plywood or one on the benefits (or lack of) the different types of RV (towables) roof trusses. Thanks!
Oh wow a simple task eh? Lol let me do some gathering. Might take a bit.
Todd would you be interested in being bartender at our next party? I like how you pour on the heavy side.
what the best productto improve my septic tank and reduce solid wast and remove smell
What about the odor? Do ether brand handle odor better?
I’m curious to know how the Liquified Brand affects struvite in grey tank seeing that it is enzyme based?
Can someone use liquify in the grey as one can do with unique
Todd,
What about TankTechsRx Probiotic RV Tank Treatment from Just Science?
Definitely going to try the Liquidfied! I've been using Happy Camper and I think it's not helping to unclog my sensors. Bet this will probably do a better job!
Thanks for doing this test Todd! You're awesome! 😎
Thank you
Hoping they do a almost full tank test, instead of just a bowl of water. Like to see real world results.
We can’t show feces on the tubes. I stated that in the video
@@NationalRVTrainingAcademy any possible way to do so on the NRVTA web page? Even if it was a high speed video?
@@NationalRVTrainingAcademy You can’t show HUMAN feces… I have two dog poop factories that I would be happy to donate some product if you want to slip through that loophole.
When you were learning the RV industry did you ever think at some point. "WHOW this will help me test how fast poop breaks down. 😁😁😁😁
It’s definitely not something we thought we’d be doing today….Thanks for the comment.
@@NationalRVTrainingAcademy But you do it well!!
I was told to allow time but also to wait till it was almost full to work to let gravity help... so you're saying 3/4 and then dump... i will try that.
I tried Unique last year after I got my rv back home from a weekend trip. I filled up my black tank about a third and put the treatment in and let it set overnight. There was quite a bit of matter that came out. The next handful of times we went out, we used the Unique product. After getting home each time, I would repeat what I did above, and the liquid was pretty much clear. The only issue was black tank odor. I will give Liquified a try. Thanks for the video! BTW, I have a dump connection to my septic system just in case some might think I'm dumping on the ground lol
I have a 38ft 5th with 6 point LCI landing gear and between wheel stabilizers. I also use strong arm bars. When my grandkids are playing around in side you still get some motion, which may not be much but is still going to swish the liquid in the tanks some. So maybe a gentle swish mimicking that motion would have been a real life senerio. Both products would've done a bit better.
7 years full-time. Have only used water and occasionally water and a cup of Dawn. Zero problems. We dump about once a week in our Airstream.
I did this test with camco rhino black tank treatment & unique rv tank treatment put each 1 cap full in 2 separate 2 litter coke bottles plus 1/4 cup of dog food&3 sheets of toliet paper in each bottle and covered with plastic wrap now waiting on results
I use the Thetford enzyme drop ins since my inception days of RVing (4 years). Grant it, my sensors get messed up from time to time. Can you answer me this Todd? Do the sensors protrude into the tank or are they attached to the outside? I can't see up in there. Prowler Lynx 18LX 35 gallon B and G. TIA : - )
There’s a couple different types of sensors. Many do sick into the tank, some are surface level. It depends what kind you have.
Cleaning sensors is a hot topic. We will probably do a video about that. Thanks for the comment.
It would have been nice to have a third control tank where no product at all was used.
That paste looks like a nightmare for tank sensors.
You’re going to want to use the tank flush for sure.
In a class b we dump every day. 9 gallon black tank. Is there one that would work better for our situation or since we dump every day it’s not worth spending the money on any?
Have a question, we have been using the Unique its working good but I also added the pine-sol calgon treatment along with the Unique. Are the two working together or am I messing thing up? Thanks
Unique company told me not to mix the 2 as it can kill the needed enzymes
Got a question why can’t set a water pump for the toilet and from the grey water tank. It could be filtered and or screened at kitchen sink?
Sure thing. An under the sink filter will be perfect.
I really liked the plastic containers you used. Where did you get them?
Walmart carries those containers
Walmart special
Thank you!
I have tried a couple of different treatments and currently finishing up Unique. Not impressed overwhelmingly yet. It works fair but does not seem to dissolve TP and not all solids. We full time and I dump every four days. May try liquified next.
We also found that Unique didn't break down toilet paper. If fact, we had blockages all the time so we are trying Just Science TankTechsRX. It seems to work a little better but I'm going to try the Liquified and see which one works better.
Wish I knew how it works for you
Just remember, a black tank is a HOLDING TANK, not a septic system. Use the RV toilet paper and plenty of water. After I dump, I pour a couple of buckets of water down the toilet (with the valve open) to help clean the black tank out. No issues in 7 years. I suspect people are using way too much paper and not enough water!
I've learned that as well, but I still want to use this stuff just to curb the smell.
Exactly! "Holding" not septic. For odor check out the Calgon/pine sol mix.
A third test with just water, no additives, would have been helpful for comparison.
So what is the difference of adding a ounce of unique Order control to the unique versus addin 2 oz of liquefied so the test would be if you add 2 ounce of liquefied you will be buying another bottle soon so it's the same as paying for two and alot of people may not care for the smell of orange.products
When you add water to your black holding tank how much water is in the tank? Some say 3 gallons is about average. But how much of that water goes down the pipe to the shut off? A 3" pipe holds 0.4 gallons of water per foot. So on my RV the pipe is 6 feet long from tank to valve, which is 2.4 gallons. I put 5 gallons of water in my tank which leaves about 2.6 gallons in my tank. Now I know there is water in my tank Thank you for all you do Todd
I agree 5 gal minimum. You would be surprised of how little water is added each time you go. So starting off with SUFFICIENT water covering the entire bottom of the tank.
Most tank valves are at the tank. Lots of us use a second valve as well.
@@luminousveiws I have about 18" from toilet to tank(on a 45 degree angle) then 4 feet to valve, I also double valve. I never have issues with my sensors, this camper is a 1998
Should have had a control with just water Mr science
Your test on dog food is good, but the effect on the toilet paper was difficult to assess. Can you please do another test on how they attack toilet paper? If you do it, use a good amount of folded tp. Thanks.
So I stated that it doesn’t break down the toilet paper like it does organic material. The paper is broken up but it still has its mass.
ive always been told you dont want it to break down because it causes a peanut butter consistency sludge that is worse than solidsand use a calgon pine sol mixture instead
Perhaps you have addressed this - is there any difference in performance between liquid Unique and pods of Unique?
Not that we’ve seen
How do I replace both of my black tank cables ( and both tanks are full )
We have a stupid 2022 keystone avalanche 378bh
Just reach down and squish it up by hand. No chemicals needed :)
Great way to save some money 💰
You first
Would suggest a control. Just water to see if they really do anything.
Two previous videos against a control. Each brand vs water alone.
How do these compare to Happy Camper?
So my first video test was unique vs happy camper.
I love another Todds 2 minute tech tip Tuesday, Tuesday. Brought to you by The National RV Training Academy.
I think your test were balance however both products should have a better break down after you have a few travel days on it too. 😊
Totally agree. I just wanted to show the breakdown with little agitation. Assuming there will be agitation in real life.
Been a weekend camper with grand kids i wish liquefied did not take to long to turn it to liquid
You should have done a control with just water. But I appreciate the video nonetheless.
We did last week...here you go ruclips.net/video/Kf-YjId-v-c/видео.html
Congratulations Matt liquefied clearly won that competition....
Todd, using dog food is not a good test. Dog food is undigested food. Poop is already digested, compacted and the main nutrients are removed. Also, you need to do a control test with no product, just water. Dog food will dissolve by itself.
Thank for your comment. If you watch the video from last Tuesday you'd see Liquified vs water. The water did not dissolve the solids as suspected. ruclips.net/video/Kf-YjId-v-c/видео.html
Todd! You've been putting out some "crappy" video's lately! Just saying:) I'm going to give the Liquified a try.
When they say ad water - common sense tells me that water covering odor on the sides of the tank that doesn’t mean that it’s any better than any other product. You can fill it up to the top and cover poo walls with any product
It’s when it’s empty and then rinsed out. Does the smell still stay? That’s my question so I am using Unique now and still smell odor so we will see and we use lots and lots of water.
Would have been great to have a control batch also with no solution just water and dog food
2 control batches on previous video. Each brand vs control then finally head to head.
Did you use the new unique products?
Why the sound effects tho 😂 lol
In 17 years of RV’ing, I have never used any product such as these. Hmmm, what am I missing 😂
Jalapeños?
With all these videos comparing the different brands... the only thing that isn't being replicated is that our RV black/grey tanks are not air tight, they have roof vents. Curious on how that air flow would aid in things being broken down. Obviously, liquified still accomplished that, but still curious.
I doubt air flow matters, but driving/agitation surely does. As does time. Unique might have caught up in another 24hrs.
Brown Gold 😂😂😂
😅
Need some agitation as many dump their tanks, put in water and treatment chemicals, and tow home or storage. They then tow to next camping 🏕 site, and tanks could have significant agitation before dumping again.
We did notice additional break down when we move from the light box to the table. Agitation does assist in the breakdown for sure.
Okay just so you know I'm not complaining I like the testing and besides I'm a Todd so I can't complain. but a control of water and dog food should have been done at the same time. 🍦
So I did that on 2 previous videos ;)
@@NationalRVTrainingAcademy Sorry I must have missed that I don't get a chance to watch all your videos I'm retired now and everybody has something for me to do.
These professional tank cleaning companies say adding anything to your black tank is BAD. This stuff turns it into peanut butter substance and makes things worse. It turns your tank into a septic tank not a holding tank.. you want solids and liquids together to clear it out. This is with years of these guys cleaning tanks for a living
Thanks for sharing!
