    That '91/92 team was good, everyone thought they could beat the Oilers. That was the season of "The Trade", Dan Quinn & Garth Butcher to St. Louis for Sergio Momesso, Cliff Ronning, Geoff Courtnall and Robert Dirk. Dan Quinn played on the DDT line with Trevor Linden and Dave Capuano when they were traded for Toni Tanti & Barry Pederson, the latter the Canucks got from trading away Cam Neely to the Bruins, but Dave went to the Lightning and Linden was put on the Life Line with Courtnall & Ronning, they were fun to watch in the early 90s. That line was still together when the Canucks went to the Finals vs the Rangers in '94.
    Dave Capuano had one of the shortest and strangest NHL careers, drafted by & played 6 games for the Penguins, traded & played 88 for the Canucks, then played 6 for the Lightning, then played 4 for the Sharks before retiring after 104 NHL games.

    • @ll7868
      @ll7868 15 дней назад

      The biggest difference between the '92 team and '94 team was Pavel Bure, that double OT win in Game 7 over Calgary is classic. I still shake my fist in the air when I think of that season's Rangers squad. They had no business getting past the Devils' trap. Damn you Mark Messier!! Seriously though, I liked Mark, just not that season or any he spent with Vancouver.

      You need to raise your expectations of the Canucks. They are far too good for you to have such low expectations. 23 out of 24 hockey analysts at ESPN predicted an Oilers win in the second round against the Canucks. They are delusional. The Canucks are said to be the underdogs against the Oilers in the second round. Why? They beat the Oilers in their four meetings in the reg season and they won the Pacific division. In what effed-up universe is this considered to be underdogs? It's totally insane how little respect the Canucks get.

    Hard to bet against the Oilers after how they played the Kings. They played their fast, physical game, and their best players were their best players. IMO, x-factor that could give Vancouver a chance is Skinner. He needs to keep his first round performance up: nothing special, but not a liability.

    • @George__Parasol279
      @George__Parasol279 15 дней назад +17

      The crazy thing is that out of the 13 total goals Skinner allowed, 4 of them were wildly unlucky. A pass deflected off a defender’s skate and in, a chip shot deflected off TWO defenders’ skates and in, a surprise 2-1 after the defender’s stick exploded, and a wild deflection off a stanchion to a wide open player at the empty net. His actual performance was stellar aside from Game 2.

    When the Canucks crushed the Oilers early in the season i really think thats what started EDM's downward spiral. It really got in their head, which took them half the season to recover.

The best thing about this series is watching two teams finally getting to play with a lot more pace after each of them got bogged down in a excessive defensive series. The Oilers won't get to hang onto the puck all day anymore because LA are waiting on the other side of the blue line playing the trap. They'll have to deal with Vancouver puck pressure all over the ice. A lot of this series will be decided by how the referees call it; especially with the physicality of the larger members of the Vancouver blueline.
