Thank you so much for this. I am very much a beginner guitar player. I was gifted one for Christmas and had no idea what to do with it. Didn't even have a guitar I could use it with. Must go shopping. lol!!! Salud!!!
I usually use an O-port in the sound hole of my guitar. I just removed it for install. Any thoughts on using or not using it with the ToneWood? Thanks! Great Vid!
Hi, I have a slimline accostic guitar. I don't like the idea of the big magnet - how could it be removed again, at a later date? Would it be possible to attach the amp directly, using strips of 'Blu-Tack', please?
@@MattiaAncillotti Thanks for the reply. I am considering this in the future for a Taylor K 14ce) My only concern at this point is that the koa back consists of 3 piece koa with the braces forming a reverse V from the bottom.
@@glenngain5189 once you experience it, you'll never be able to play without it. And it's best to detach it every 3 days (that's what i do) since the suction will get really strong if you leave it there for too long. In any case, it is the best. 👍👍👍
Thank you for this! I just purchased a demo model from sweet water, but the x brace doesn't have any adhesive on it. Any recommendations as to how I should go about installing it?
In the Anderton demo video you mention you have only one Tomewood amp but many guitars, and imply moving it from one guitar to another is easy. In this video it appears the magnetic brace probably dhouldn't be moved. Can you purchase additional X braces?
@@tater7363 thanks. After emsilng Tonewood I've decided against the amp. Seems removing the x brace can leave some glue behind and/or cause damage to the inside of the guitar.
A single wire touching the xbrace ruins the sound so much...removing the xbrace to get into my aew 32 ibanez is such a pain...wish there had been a disclaimer for this when I installed it... no i'm trying to fish my adult sized hands into this thin body acoustic.... is there a "shallow" x-brace, I can buy instead?
What are your feelings about using velcro on the Tonewood rather than the internal magnet ? I usually play ukuleles. I have different sizes and I know that the magnet will fit in a tenor and larger, but I usually play a concert size and I would like to use the amp on multiple instruments.
hopefully tonewood replies but I don't see any issue with this, but just keep in mind the way you set up the velcro it may or may not be hard to remove it later from both the TWA and your instrument, I think that's why they went with magnets for the product because it can leave both the amp and the instrument virtually untouched if you don't wanna use TWA anymore
I love your style of playing when I’m looking for something to just blow my mind I play my collection of your music. Someone told me you used to be in a all acoustic rock band is this true and where can I get all your lp’s vinyl is what I called so did everyone my age called them how do I I get them in my hands on them?!,, I have reverted back to albums plus digital like on an IPad . Please let me know. Thanks for the tutorial I highly recommend it. \m/ peace
whereever i attach my twa to my guitar, it always makes high pitch noises like feedback too much(?), and turns off automatically, could anyone tell me how to solve it, plz.
So, the device has to come off the guitar to fit in the case..The pads on the bottom have suction cups. Said suction cups surely will break down at some point. What then?
Hi Biggerbyte, the ToneWoodAmp doesn't actually use suction cups for it's primary fixing. It uses 4 small magnets on the x brace that is fixed inside the guitar itself. These magnets are what the ToneWoodAmp then attaches to. This means you can remove the ToneWoodAmp as many times as you like! There are two rubbery pads on the ToneWoodAmp we call liners, these are here to act as additional support to the x-brace but also protect the back of the guitar to ensure the ToneWoodAmp never leaves a mark. These pads can wear out with age. But they can be cleaned or simply replaced for a very low cost We hope this helps to answer your questions. If you have anything else you would like to ask. Feel free to email us on support@tonewoodamp.com. We'd be happy to help.
@@ToneWoodAmpMagic That is interesting. The company told me there are microscopic suction pads that over time will need to be replaced as said function cups break down from use. @@ToneWoodAmpMagic I removed the brace to try it on a different guitar, do you sell replacement sticky pads for the braces? If not what would you recommend to reuse it?

Wow i didnt know that this thing i need to put inaide that x thing in my guutar. I had 2 taylor acoustic i thought i can change place this to my 2 taylor guitars .. ohh men nope
Why does it *have* to attach to the back? I can't just mount it below the bridge on the front? If not, why? I'd like to have one of these, but I have a shallow bowl Ovation Celebrity. I couldn't care less about it being simply a cosmetic thing.
It’s because it sends the vibrations through the back of the guitar to send it through the sound hole. If you put it on the front it either wouldn’t work, or wouldn’t sound how it is supposed to
Excellently explained. Thank you!
Already installed. Love your music! Peace through music ❤from Montana.
Perfect explanation! who could explain it better than you! amazing Mike!

Hi, thanks for informations, do you know if they sell different magnets to make me use in different guitars without remove magnet each time?
Yes they do. I purchased a second "X Brace" online ( eBay, Amazon, etc. ) for my 12 string acoustic about 1 year ago for around $30.00.

Doesn't the x brace mess with the body's resonance?
I love Mike Dawes!!😊
Great video very helpful!
Does the Xbrace affect the acoustic tone of the guitar when the TomeWoodAmp is not attached?
No Glenn, the guitar tone is not affected, all my guitars have x-braces, and have not changed their sound and characteristics!
its totally safe man

Hi Mike, question for you, would this work on my Gretsch Lap Steel Dobro?, or would the metal cone affect it in any way?.
I just seen this amp. Wow very nice.
Yeah I've been out of the loop for a few...🌀
Thanks, brotha!
Is there any reason this would not work with a 12 string ? (mine has a jumbo body)
I have a solid Rosewood guitar with pickups. Will the tonewood amp damage the guitar in any way?
Very cool! Thank you!

Does the X brace have a direction, there is a strange symbol on the back of it?
Late comment, but it does not have an orientation!
do you need to install batteries first?
How can you add synth sounds as piano?
K what kind of guitar amp and whatever else do I need to get the sound of mike daws 3000$ range??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
How well does this work if the plug socket on the guitar isn't centered in the he strap bolt
I have the x-brace installed in 4 of my acoustics. Some are centered and others are offset. It doesn’t make a difference in the tone.
