Simplest tip I ever got-from my dad-to bring my handicap down quickly is treat every par 3 like a par 4, so 2 shots to hit the green + 2 putts, treat every par 4 like a par 5 etc. If you bogey every hole you’ll break 90. Make a few pars, hit a few double bogeys, same result.

Excellent advice! I agree completely. These are the five keys that helped me too. But, if I may, I would like to add two more: (1) Play from the appropriate tee boxes! You can't score lower scores if you are playing from too far, and (2) know how far you hit your clubs. For some people, playing with fewer clubs also helps.

Great thanks. Your tips make great sense and touch on the exact poor strokes that I tend to make.

Hi Ali, i have become a big fan of the bump and run with hybrid onto the green as opposed to trying to chip onto the green.

Hi Ali, started watching your vids a couple weeks back. I found your tips and advice to be extremely helpful (and some would say obvious). However, after the ball strike video about looking before or after the ball depending on club helped the most. You speak the every man's game which is great . Keep up the great work Laddie-O. Thanks much. ... TH.

Bought a home on a golf course a couple of months ago, so I took up the game. I'm 82 years old and after playing a few rounds with friends I found that I love the sport. My goal is to break 90 but to get there I need to first break 100. Love your videos, you make learning exciting and enjoyable. Thank you.

Great tips interesting on the short game, do we need to be looking at hybrid irons? What about a test between Cobra t rail, Wilson Launchpad and Cleveland HB Launcher.

Majority of my 3 and 4 putts is from 30+ feet from the hole uphill. Interesting about using fairway wood or hybrid from 30+ yards.

Great input but those issues are what most struggle with every round of golf played, that’s why 100+ come back again.
Hit fairway with the driver - absolutely every time!
Don’t duff or thin - surely not.
    Never miss a chip/pitch - certainly not!
Get out of the bunker - no problem (if it’s a shallow fairway bunker).
    Don’t three-putt - never again!
Fulfill those five and I guarantee breaking 90 😉

Practice putting and chipping 80% to 20% everything else. Play the shot you have and try to take the big number out of play if you can. Also have fun and don't worry about your score til it's time to pay up haha! Good luck!

Still have problems getting out of the bunker. I swing extremely hard and my sand wedge goes under the ball pops up and stays in the bunker.

You forgot the key one, even before you tee off, Play the tees that best fits your game! That does not mean from the tips with your friends, play the forward tees, even the aka ladies or senior tees.
Shorten the course will greatly improve your game because you are not trying to kill it off the tees and you play more of your scoring irons. Even better, only play shorter courses until you improve your game.

So basically if you want to break a hundred just play better 😂 JK, it’s all solid advice and I must say the trick of looking at the hole on your practice put strokes is something I started doing this past summer and it helped me a lot, I probably learned it from watching one of your other videos but I don’t recall.

This is really good advice but I'm not so sure about Tip 3. Shouldn't people want to learn to play better golf and be learning to chip onto the green? Even if putting with a driver does get you a better score in the short term , are you really learning much by doing that? Is that shot going to be a part of your armoury in a few years time? When you are (hopefully) trying to break 90 or 80?

Exactly what I was thinking. I understand that a 60 degree is hard for beginners to hit consistently, but learning to hit a pitching wedge is going to be way more effective. Plus I don't think my playing partners would have a clue what I was thinking with a 7 wood from 30 yards out!

These are great tips in theory. If they were easy to put into practice there wouldn't be so many "how to break 100" videos on RUclips.
