I paused the video at 7:00 ... I went outside and tried it. The first ball I swung at..... teed it higher, club head went under the ball, ball went almost str8 up, tee went about 20 feet. I readjusted my attitude and it worked.
I like your honesty in not choosing the very best strikes in your demonstration of how to get more distance. I appreciate that honesty because it's a process and takes some time to perfect.
I literally just helped a guy, next to me on the range, do this yesterday - but he gained over 100 yards carry. Newer golfer. Top of the driver was covered with ball marks. Had his loft turned down to 8.5 degrees. Setup was ball middle of the stance, was hooding the club & hitting low worm burners carried about 130 yards 20 feet off the ground and running out to 175. 45 minutes later, on my last ball and leaving, I had him hitting a 230 carry high fade - ball forward, 11.5 loft on driver. 60 yr old guy, been at the range for 2 years
Orange tee definitely work for me and keeping my eyes looking a few inches behind the ball on the downswing has lead to me rarely topping the ball. However, I seem to hit a lot more long hooks and slices in equal measure albeit when I do manage to hit it straight I am hitting it further. Would love to see a video with tips on how to hit more straight or nearly straight drives.
Good video!!! I already have a positive attack angle, but I moved the ball position further forward and concentrated on stamping my left foot down as per the video and this increased my carry distance and most shots were straight. Thank you, I shall carry on and see where it gets me!
Shall give this a try, as I have problems with hitting up with my driver. I have recently started hovering my driver, rather than have it on the ground at address and this has improved my accuracy, and gels more natural. I also use pink tees, and will be trying out the orange tee as suggested. Looking forward to trying the tips given.
For those always hitting fades, try putting your front foot further back so the ball is in line with the outer toe rather than the inside heel, do this without pushing the hands forward like an iron. It means the club will have the chance to release and straighten up. The further back the lead foot is, the more the club releases so too far will hit a draw. I swing in the mid 90’s and carry appx 235 yards normally hitting a mild fade.
ok, so I had a lesson with a pro, use an orange tee, tilt my shoulders, hit off the front of the foot, hitting up (I think). Get a reasonable distance but it goes way too high without coming off the top of the club (so I'm not hitting under the ball). I also use foot spray and can see I am hitting off centre towards the heel but I cannot get a low ,penetrating shot! suggestions please
Ali Great tip that I will try at the range, as not getting great distance from the driver but hitting it straight. So if this tip work hopefully will see an increase in distance
In a previous video you mentioned picking a spot behind the ball to “bottom out” to insure an upward strike and also to come from the INSIDE……didn’t hear you mention either of these here Ali 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️??
Does this change at all with loft angle of the driver? I have the Callaway Costco set with a 10.5° loft driver, and it seems to go really high when I hit up at it.
I hear you. I have the other driver Taylormade doesn't even want to admit they made. The RBZ black driver. At 8.5 degrees it still goes higher than most.
We don’t have a £20k trackman to help give us direct feedback, all we can do is watch ball flight and go by feel. There is no explanation here of what feels we should be searching for.
I definitely hit a bit down or level with driver. My fear with this is the sky ball that you pop straight up in the air, the ball goes nowhere and you’ve damaged your club as well!!!
@@TBenn68 Not really. Honestly I’ve always had a fast swing speed, but I’ve been known to be erratic off the tee. I’d easily give up 10-20 yards for accuracy and more fairways hit. But thanks for the compliment. 👍🏾
@@CW-ou6gu You're welcome. I played much more in my mid-late 20's/early 30's and recall hitting bombs off the tee, mainly due to strength and flexibility. Got married, had a child, hung up the clubs and played maybe once or twice a year for the next 15-18 years. Recently started playing twice a month and noticed my best drives are carrying about 200-205, so definitely missing the distance. My goal is 250+/- (carry+roll) so I need to add another 30-35 yards to my carry and the roll should get me closer to the 250 I'm seeking. Hit 'em straight!
Absolutely. Whenever I use more tilt and focus on the shoulder pointing to the sky, the club head hits the ground at least a foot or more behind the ball :>(
Club speed: 106-109 Ball speed: 150-155 Carry: 245-260. Straight/slight fade. Not sure how I could possibly find 50 yards I dont get nearly as much rollout because I just cant get a draw on the ball. 7:40 266 carry and 292 total is an epic 26 yard roll. I’m lucky to get 8. (Is this due to too much backspin…i.e. not hitting up on the ball)?
I’m not Ali, but it’s difficult to say what the cause could be without seeing you swing the club. It does sound like you could be hitting it with the shaft too steep to me tho. I had a similar issue a few years ago, and found that if I shallow the club at the very start of the downswing and rotate through the shot, I could hit the draw and launch it higher
Assuming you don't play on really soft/wet courses, a short roll-out is likely caused by backspin that is too high. But it could also be that you are hitting very high-launching, low spin bombers that drop out the sky with a very steep decent angle. If your decent angle is over 40 degrees with the driver you won't get much roll. A good spin window for the driver with your speed, assuming an attack angle of around 4 or 5 degrees up and a launch angle of around 13 degrees +/-, would be between 2000 to 2400 give or take a hundred or so.There could be a number of factors, or combination of factors creating excess backspin. A couple of things to look at are your strike location on the head particularly in the vertical axis (above/below center) as the higher strike will generate higher backspin; your angle of attack as the more down the higher the backspin; your dynamic/delivered loft vs the loft of the driver (it only takes a degree too much to make a significant difference in spin); and your alignment vs club path. Your face-to-path is a little open if you are getting slight fades (which is actually a pretty good shot shape as it is more controllable), but are you starting it left and fading it to the middle or starting it straight and fading it down the right side? IF you are aiming square to the target line then the later is more likely to increase dynamic loft at impact and generally loft = spin. I hope that helps a bit.
It's impossible to gain 50 yards. Around 30% further to 35%? NO!! I've been golfing 30+ years. 6 handicap & the most I've ever gained is about 15 yards & all that was due to a shaft change. No one can 50+ yards no matter who they take lessons from or a video they watch. Age creeps up & no stopping it. In 20z I hit the ball on average 290 to 310. Mid 30z 285 to 300. 40z 275 to 290. It's age & flexibility you loose. These guys showing their videos turn up their machines to fraud you. Where I buy my clubs he turned it to where I hit a 7 iron 265 yards just to show me how it xan be altered. Don't buy this crap. Your body inly has a certain amount of power. Impressive lesson. Thank you. I have some problem hitting the ground before impact
I’ve got the best practice swing ever , according to my son ! The ball is the problem !!

What about feet position? How much of a wider stance are you taking? The driver is the biggest club in the bag, so you need a wider stance.
Where can we order the tees? Thanks!
Enjoyed the video. Do you take the club back at the same inside angle as you deliver inside to out angle on the downswing?
Looking forward to try this. I DEFINETLY hit down with the driver and I am afraid of teeing the ball up. Thanks for the tips.
Hope it helps
What driver is being used?
Titleist TSi 3
can you discuss loft for swing speeds 80 to90 and 90 to 100 and over 100mph
We don’t have a £20k trackman to help give us direct feedback, all we can do is watch ball flight and go by feel. There is no explanation here of what feels we should be searching for.

Ali , you are awesome! Thank you so much for your help! TKM
Just to say thank you re my op Jim
What is your loft on your driver 🤔
I only have a short back swing can I still get better distance
Keep it up
So I’m 52 and hit my drive 285 on average, and you think I can add another 50 yds? 🤔
I believe you’re in the top 2% that needs to be teaching us 52 yo’s in the bottom 98% how to properly drive a golf ball. 😊

great vlog, but do it in slow motion replay please
You might be able to transfer your weight onto your lead side just slightly more generating a little more power. Just give it a shot!
When you say to "step" into the drive with your left leg do you find that you lose your levels? Meaning .... dipping down and hitting the ground.
Absolutely. Whenever I use more tilt and focus on the shoulder pointing to the sky, the club head hits the ground at least a foot or more behind the ball :>(

Totally same problem
Swing speed of 109 and only carrying 233. Something is wrong. Ball speed seems low also
First ball in range trying this back went and couldn’t play my round . Need a warm up first
