  • In this video Leah discusses the recent classification of hypertension as a presumed service-connected disability for Vietnam veterans exposed to Agent Orange, following the PACT Act. She explains the significance of this development for veterans who have long suffered from hypertension possibly linked to Agent Orange. Leah outlines the definition of hypertension, including its stages and diagnostic criteria. She also addresses the concept of a nexus letter, explaining its role in establishing service connection for disabilities, though noting it's often unnecessary for presumptive conditions like those linked to Agent Orange exposure.

I filed under the PACT ACT for hypertension. I had a phone c&p exam and the examiner commented on how high my blood pressure was and how much high blood pressure medicine I was thinking. I said that was because I have very high blood pressure. The VA gave me a lousy 10%.

Hello, I've been on hypertension meds for some time and it's somewhat under control. but I don't want to be on these
for the rest of my life. Was in Vietnam from April 1969 to Marsh 1970, I believe that I was exposed to Agent Orange
as I have a terrible case of back acne, which is one of the many caused by Agent orange. VA so far is giving me the
runaround. Thanks for this information, on my next appointment I'll let my Dr. know about this.

I have been exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam during my tour from Sept 1, 1967 to Sept 1, 1968.
I do not have Hypertension because my Immune System has been fighting it for about 54+ years.
I have been itching for about 3 or 4 years now and my skin is very dry and cracks and bleeds even when I bump it.

Today, I was on the phone with a VA Veteran Advocate trying to find out why I can't find any records from the VA where they recorded my Blood Pressure... I gave him my info and within minutes he had my records that I am not allowed to see I guess (unless I request them). He said Yes, I was diagnosed with Hypertension and that he saw a Nov. 3 2006 VA appointment where my Blood Pressure was 150/106.
I would have tried to Connect that Hypertension back to my Service Connected PTSD with Depression and Alcohol Dependence Vietnam/Thailand (B-52 rider) 1967/68, if I had known that I had been diagnosed with Hypertension in 2006 (I had high Blood Pressure ever since I got out in 1968 !) I am 70% Service Connected and I currently have a TDIU claim in Sep. 28, 2022.
Also, I had a Stroke on Sep. 3 2018 and spent 24 days in a VA hospital...Can I sue them for not putting me on Blood Pressure medicine 12 years earlier when they recorded my BP at 150/106 ?...
Last month I had my yearly VA Medical exam... my Blood Pressure reading was 176/95 WHILE I AM ON BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE ! What the Hell kind of Medical people are we dealing with ?
Can I get all of this Connected to my 70% PTSD with Depression and Alcohol Dependence ?

You would need to consult with an attorney regarding your concerns about legal proceedings. As far as your blood pressure claim is concerned you can always claim anything at any time but if you served in Vietnam or Thailand during the presumptive period related to agent orange exposure, hypertension should be pretty automatic related to that.

      @@prestigeveteranmedical Hi again Leah.
Yes, I was Boots on the ground in Vietnam for a short period on 3 or 4 occasions..
and my 1 year tour at U-Tapao, RTAFB Aug.1967/68 as a Combat Aerial Photographer
(B-52 Bomber and KC-135 Refueler rider) fits the Agent Orange timeline ! I was also on Johnston Island for a 100 TDY over Christmas 1966/67.
(JI was an Atomic Bomb Target in 1962, and they even had a A bomb accident there on a Launch Facility that drenched the Island with RadioActive material just 4 years before I was there TDY for 100 Days !) They tried to hide that one from us for decades! JI was also an Agent Orange storage facility after I was there (so they say!)
So, I currently have a TDIU claim waiting at the VA (Sep. 28, 2022)
In your opinion should I file and try to connect my Hypertension as a presumptive to agent orange exposure as you said in your last reply to me ?
Like I said...yesterday talking to a VA Veteran Advocate (because nothing ever seems to get done about any of my conditions year after year (they are only concerned about my condition when my yearly exam comes up... after that nothing ever gets done until next years exam !) he was able to access some of my old Medical Records.. and within 2 minutes he found an exam in Nov. 3, 2006 where my Blood Pressure was 150/106... I had very high blood pressure readings all of the time since my Military service days !
Should I wait until I get those Medical records for more ammunition to support my Hypertension claim (BP Readings)... or do you think the VAs newer Agent Orange stance would help in this case ?
Are there any services that you could offer in my situation for this claim ?
      Thanks Leah... YOU ROCK !

@@Snailmailtrucker Hi sir. Of course I am not a legal professional and I do not assist with filling. The latest policies are very straightforward regarding hypertension and AO exposure. I do not think any of those other details are helpful or hurtful because the law states that if you have condition x and you were in location y then it should be approved based upon the presumptive language that has been approved. If it were me I would just tell your VSO that you have hypertension and that you understand this is now a presumptive condition and you would like his help to get it filled in relation to AO exposure. He should know what to do. I do not think my services would be super helpful as it is black and white for the most part if that makes sense.
