@@ninthkaikan1544 this is in terms of home training. We all know that an instructor is essential for our knowledge in martial arts. But sometimes not everyone has the privilege to learn from a instructor in person, so that would be a reason why some individuals are watching this video.
I used to and I stopped because I thought It was useless... but now that I see that I was not the only, then I guess I'll try the mental image one more time.
I didn't think it would be possible! Once again, Sifu, you open my eyes. I am in recovery from very recent ACL surgery and was hoping to incorporate martial arts in my strengthening program. We are so blessed by your many gifts.
I don't have a mirror that covers my entire body. So i just set my phone up in a position where it can catch my whole body and start recording hours of footage of me training. To then later carefully watch the footage to try and correct myself from it. This is what i suggest doing if u don't have a long mirror.
A tall window can also work, provided the lighting works in your favour, your shadow can also be somewhat effective if you haven't a mirror or windows.
Great advice. I also think that people should use their phones to film themselves from different angles. That way if they are using videos or books they can compare how they are moving to the teaching materials they are using. The one thing people should always remember is in real life when you need to use your Marshal Art techniques, there is no time to think what am i going to do or ill do this and then that. You are then just reacting, you are using something known as No Mind or Wuxin. Mushin (mental state) 'Mushin' in Japanese and 'Wuxin' in Chinese (無心 "no mind") is a mental state. Zen and Daoist meditators are said to reach this state, as well as artists and trained martial artists. They also practice this mental state during everyday activities. The times where on the street i had to use what i know i just reacted and it flowed out of me just right. The real test is always how you will react when you have to actually use it. I believe when you are a beginner a bit of doubt is natural. But then you realize when it happens it just flows out of you. That mental muscle we teach our bodies is very important as we are practicing. Sometimes when i talk to people about this i mention driving. Remember when you first learned you were checking this and that but now after so many years you are just doing it without any direct thought of what you do next. Thats how Martial Arts is done. The movement has a flow to it. Its almost like a dance when done right but very effective in the end. Another thing i think people should do i learn how to meditate and release stress and tension from anywhere you might have from the mind, body and soul. This should be done as often as possible and can be done in many places. You could be getting ready to go into an important meeting. Just step aside for a few minutes somewhere quiet and meditate. Have yourself release any stress or tension you might be feeling and relax. In a meeting things can get very tense sometimes and even stressful. But if you can control you emotions and stress levels you can come out of the meeting more successful then allowing events to have you create an emotional reaction which takes you into the wrong direction. I'm reminded of someone who once asked a question, "What is meditation like?" and the answer "Its like coming home". Theres no place like home. The place we go to retreat to after a busy day where we can relax and leave the day behind us if we need to. A place we call our own as well as the environment we create for us to enjoy.
I remember when I was a kid and I had a martial art teacher. One thing that he told us over and over was that Karate is a discipline first, and a way to fight secondly.
I train in martial arts at home. If your wondering what to expect, look at some videos I made, I'm not the best, but I also don't think I'm the worst. I don't train in wing chun though, I'm more into the karate side of things.

As a Martial Arts Instructor, I looked forward to learn from other martial artist point of view and probably learn some techniques I could apply during this quarantine. But, training martial arts in front of the mirror and all that is not gonna help others learn martial arts nor improve their technique and style. Learning and training martial arts is more complex than that.

@BTB designZ although I agree, some belts obtained are purely business and not by skills. (Some.. but not all though). In my club, we still take pride at least when it comes to belt promotion. Though I get what you saying.

There are a lot of online courses you can follow and learn from. Online courses are good, martial arts often have very small, precise, and very significant elements.

Start with Bruce Lee's paper drill. Hang paper from a string eye level, stand in jkd stance and strike the paper with your elbows moving your hips, not shoulders. It gives you the foundation of using the ground and hips when you punch. It makes your punches deadly. Start slow and focus on the movement.
I will make myself commit to meet you face to face in 1 year. Mark my words. I'm in a new start up business for more than a year and meeting you will be in my list of "must achieve"
Martial arts means stamina flexiblity ,footwork ,stricking , blocking -redirecting -trapping,takedowns ,grappling that all about it does't matter what style they all have these instrument in. That so working on that and combine them all 😎
In my experience, for an absolute beginner, it's impossible to learn anything at home by himself. He has to be assisted by an instructor. On the other hand, an experienced person in martial arts with a solid base in at least one style of martial arts can learn something. Still, he needs the help of an instructor and a partner if he is trying to learn refined traditional styles like Wing Chun, Aikido, JKD, Pakua Chan Ju Jitsu, and similar techniques.
they say that it is a stereo type that all asians know the martial arts but being how the MA was my whole life i would be proud of such a stereo type it is the pride of the asians to be able to tackle what comes there way in such military tactics
Its very difficult to train alone because you have to be both student and teacher, you have to know the right technique and then correct yourself when you mess up. A BIG point that i can stress is keep it realistic i've seen a lot of people get lost in their head and think they'll be a kung fu master landing like 7 or 8 strikes, no. Keep in mind how people would react and practice simple, realistic combos visualising the enemy and their advances, attacks, defenses, etc. It always helps to spar when you can to keep your base truly centered in reality and its a good testing ground for techniques you might be practicing.
There are plenty of online courses that offer coaching do that and attend a seminar if training isn’t close enough. Injuries are a part of training by yourself and inexperienced. it’s an instant correction. Heavy bag is vital if you don’t have a partner.
I wonder if Dan Lok knows where I can get martial arts equipment I'm sure he sells it he's really tuff and he's a really neat guy he wouldn't rip no one off

Absolutely. Practicing scenarios in your mind is great conditioning. Besides, it’s a huge boost in confidence.
