I've been using a 23 R1 since Feb 24, just touched 6000 miles , put heli bar riser on, ride all day no worries, its just Fun, I know it makes no sense on the road, but whi cares, it's hilarious.

Imagine riding an R1 in southeast Asia like the Philippines where the average speed on the highway is 50mph on a good day. I know guys with an R1 (XSR 900 myself) and it just feels wild blowing by thousands of people on scooters.

I know they're probably too much for the roads these days but i'm really sad to watch the demise of 1000cc superbikes(not that i'd ever be able to afford one new). I'm just happy there'll be a steady supply of used examples but I do worry for the used prices if they don't eventually make a return. Pretty much every day I regret selling my RSV4 RF.

Love the R1, it's a monster! That being said, because I'm a two stroke guy I'd choose an R6 for it's high r.p.m power band. Rode all kinds of bikes, never could get used to the low end, mid range torque of the big inline four strokes. It's just what I'm accustomed to, keeping the revs above 6,000.

Bought a MT-07 as first bike after getting my license a few years back. Then a couple of months after that my buddy went to Japan and was selling his R1M so i bought it for a resonable price. That thing scared the sh!t out of me to the point where i sold it off after just 2 months. Made a £2k profit and went back to MT-07. Now have an MT-09 and an Aprilia RS 660. But yeah, 1000cc were too much too soon and i will probably not get one ever again. Bloody hell, i would have died on that thing.

I rode my mates Kwak H2 Supercharged with the limiter off with a Akrapovic Exhaust ,it's completely insane ,I got to 170 mph and my arse went he's had it to 205 mph on a runway of course ,tbh the throttle is in my opinion dangerous zero to full throttle is under 2 inch wind on if you slip just slightly its gone ,you need tons of practice and miles on the clock to even try to get used to it and to feel confident, looks fabulous but not for me ,in the wrong hands all these super sport bikes are lethal and for me not enjoyable, I will stick to my 1973 Z1B 900 wich i have owned since 1978 for me the most beautiful sport tourer ever made and still flies no technology only a steering damper and she draws a crowd everywhere i go but i do like the new retro version of it

It seems the entire issue of "feel" with Yamaha sportsbike brakes relates to the extra plumbing used for ABS. Then except for the "feel" part it seems like they do actually work acceptably well....but I have never heard it explained how other brands/models manage to have both ABS and reportedly stellar brake feel and performance? WHAT is Yamaha missing in the equation?

I am on my second purchase of a 2019 R1m because the previous owner had upgraded to brembo gp4-rx and a corsa corta master with abs delete as well as a whole host of upgrades like ohlins steering damper, gilles rear sets, ima clip ons, carbon air intake , ima air filter and so on etc. The reason why i went back to the R1m is because it is reliable and an awesome and exciting superbike if ridden hard. I had the 2020 bmw s1000rr-m which was bland and boring and i found it hard work to get the most out of it at the higher speed (180+) because it would make me tired of trying to ring the neck out of it. The 2022 rsv4 factory was a step above the R1m and R1 in terms of power and torque and i could feel it in the way the bike would wheelie on slight lumps in the road surface when i wound the throttle back 90 ish % but my 2022 rsv4 factory had a coolant leak (at 1000 miles give or take a few) which was fixed after about 6 weeks and eventually led to a complete engine failure about 1000 miles after- which was replaced under warranty, after i got the bike back after a complete engine change, it then had an oil leak after less than 50 miles after i picked the bike up so i handed it back to the dealership. The yamaha R1 and R1m is the bike to have if your looking to have the kind of fun without a pilots licence and access to a jet plane but want the reliability of 100,000 miles of reliability with the regular service intervals and minor part replacements. It is insane how this bike performs if you can ride it to its full potential and the little bit of power that i wish it had at the top end is something that i will live with compared to its euro rivals lack of reliability.

If I had the money I’d probably upgrade from my ‘98 Think I paid $9800 new. 😅And had to call 21 dealers just to find one. Great review mate👌🏻

Not a bike for me, but I would - almost happily - soil myself on a test ride on one of those.... It looks mean, it sounds mean, and it knows how to react when you twist the throttle. I envy your test ride on it. 👍⭐👍

Incredible bikes but bye bye licence, unfortunately if you have the power you cant help but twist the throttle!! . Up North you may be ok but you will get nicked in many parts down south. Stick to track days if you feel the need for speed.

Back in the day I had the opportunity to ride a 1980 Suzuki GS1000, and I absolutely loved everything about it. The problem was that open throttle would launch me immediately into super-legal speed, and with the number of points I had my license, one more ticket and I was going to be walking. Many years later I had the opportunity to ride a mid '90's Suzuki RF900R, and it was dramatically faster. I can't imagine what a current liter class superbike would feel like.

I didnt change a lot of bikes. Back in the day i went from owning thedual purpose Yamaha DT175 2 stroke to 7mths later , having had a chance to experience one ride on the Rd350lc on ride on the honda 750 Interceptor and before those Suzuki 550 and a handful of rides on the 69hp Suzuki gs750es....i graduated to the original 102hp Yamaha FJ 1100! Bike of the Year. My goal was actually a brand new Yamaha FZ750 but i decided the cost was a burden to my finances. Years later the 86Suzuki GSX1000R was my final blaze of techovelocity. Bike of the Year. Dunno if im ever getting back to those pinicales

I’ve owned and driven some incredible cars, but nothing compares to a 1000cc superbike, I had big ZZRs and BMW 1000cc they fry and scramble your brain. The mid range is just bewildering.

Former motorcycle salesman here, and it’s not an exaggeration to say that I’ve ridden almost everything. And I’m going to tell you a secret: If you’re riding on the street, the 600’s are the most fun.

I’ve only ever had 600s since passing obtaining my full license, and I can safely say my 07 ZX6R is certainly fast enough! God knows how 200bhp feels like
