Thanks for the tutorial. My question is if there are no tools to help you determine if the skin is somewhat correct like a vectorscope in video editing software? Is the histagram not suitable? It seems everyone is adjusting skintones really based on taste and feelling rather than with the help of any tools.

    Thank you for this tutorial!
Could you also do one on correcting skin tones when shooting outdoors around nature?
I struggle so much with the green cast

Neat tips. Any suggestions on what colors comprise darker skin, e.g., Latin America, South Asian, or African? I have a workshop coming up with two darker skin models.

Thanks Jim! I do tend to find that blue in particular can really compromise deeper skin tones by turning them an ashy tone.
For lighter skin tones, I find green tends to be worst!

Thank you for this video, I just had problems with this when all my studio shots (with strobe) came out a little warm in the skin tone (I tried to change it a bit with the white balance but it could easily come out a little too cold looking in the whole picture). I just wonder how do you transfer photos from LR to PS? Do you export them into a file and then take them into PS or do you export them directly from LR to PS? If you export them to a file first what setting are you using to keep the RAW format? LR only gives you the DNG, TIFF, JPEG, JEPG Large and Original formats and wonder which is the best that can keep your edit but also keep the RAW format as well for editing in PS?

I shoot in a studio enviroment for work, I had that issue, with my white balance being off and the skin tones were either too warm or too cold. I bought a calibrated gray card and problem solved. You can either set it internally or take a photo of it for reference and use the eyedropper tool to correct the WB in LR. Hope that helps you.

No worries at all! @vtotheiet has some great recommendations for getting better white balance!
In terms of importing images to Photoshop from LR, I do it directly. In Lightroom I generally right click the image that I want to edit in PS and choose 'Edit in Photoshop.'
It will usually prompt you with what file extension you'd like to use, (or you can change this to be automated under LR settings.) I usually always choose .psd or .tiff as they are lossless file types, meaning they don't lose quality. You technically can't utilise a RAW file directly in Photoshop, as even when trying to open RAW images directly through PS, it will need to be first processed through Camera Raw. Then you will be able to edit the file in Photoshop as a psd, tiff, jpeg, etc.
      I hope this helps! 😊
