- I sold off my last modern Springfield Armory, a 1911 Loaded, and replaced it with a Colt 1911 Gold Cup Nation Match Mk IV, series 70, in .45 ACP. This is a table top look at the first look out of the box.
Trigger was later measured at an amazing 3 pounds 9 ounces with no shots for break in through the pistol as of yet.

I bought one new around 1981. They were a little hard to get because the demand was higher than the production back then. I still recall the price $426.00. A lot for a young mechanic that had a kid on the way and a recently purchased house to save up for. I still have it today and it looks pretty much like the one shown here except the box it came in was only a wood grain cardboard sleeve around a Styrofoam clam shell type of arrangement. It didn't include the additional recoil spring or the collet wrench but it did have the extra magazine. The grips on mine are a little different as they are fully checkered and don't have the un-checkered diamonds like this example. I believe then as I do now that this is truly a classic firearm.
thank you for posting this. 25 years ago I grudingly picked up brite stainless gold cup. i've never regretted it. highpoint of collection. it's gorgeous.
I have owned and collected Colt 1911 .45s since 1979..I have never owned a bad one! They have ALL shot very well..the gold cups are my best if course. I carry a Officers model for my EDC gun. You won't be sorry you bought it, they are great!
Nice video! 😀
Very nice Colt, thanks for the video. I have 3 of Colt's 1911 and hope to get this one next. Maybe for my 60th birthday. I hope that Colt can hang in there.
I believe I bought mine in 1979. Used it for competition bullseye for a couple of years. Colt upgraded the rear sight pin. That's it. Still looks like new!
Still one of the nicest looking factory pistols made along with the Python, blued of course.
That’s a beautiful Colt. I need one... Thanks!
Very nice Gun! Cool Video!
Not to worried about hammer bite! 6:17 tells me you will be if you're thumbs forward with a high and tight grip. Beautiful piece.
Very nice Colt. Camp Perry's Colt.😊
Outstanding pistol ! I plan on one myself.

A very handsome firearm plus I understand it’s very accurate!!!!
Very, I call it my "can't miss" gun.
Very nice colt almost bought one just like it till I found a ww2 colt I couldn't pass on
Beautiful Pistol and a new piece of History, but The Colt Gold Cup National Match is here in Germany so expensive. The US MSRP is 1299$ (1105€). In Germany the selling Price is 2150€ (2526$). BOOM- Double Price....Thats really so sad....
Damn we should start importing
Its 5000$ in Turkey lol
Excellent weapon.
Beautiful
This is the 1911 I want. Beautiful pistol. Are you still happy with it 5 years later?
The only problem I have with the Colt 1911's is the loosely fit beaver tail safety. It doesn't affect accuracy and it's a very small complaint but it bugs me.I do own a Colt 1911 and would like to have another
I bought a new one in 82 they didn't come in a plastic case back then. They came in a colt box which had the gun protected in a two piece stiro
Never knew different springs came with some of these.
Wonderful gun!!! I just bought one! Well worth the money!!! I’m not sure who I will leave it to
Still have my address?
LoL it took me a few seconds! I’m getting slow in my old age.
I love my gold cup shoots like a dream
Best shooting pistol I have every fired....1 inch groups, consistently.
series 70 or 80 yours?
@@gutadin5 70
Nice review of the 1911 and a great looking Colt. It's been awhile since this video came out, just wandering if you tested the trigger LB pull and what was the number. I have a new unfired, same gun and the pull is a 7 to 8 lb pull on my wheeler scale. I read that it should be 3.5 to 5.5. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.
I like the looks of a blued 1911 don't care for parkerized. Is series 80 worth it to get due to the safty? Why go 70s series over that?
Beautiful! To bad I can’t get this in California
Good vid..... BTW, did your pistol come w/ the collet bushing?
nice 1911...
I hope to be able to get one soon... Edit: finally found one as of yesterday (18 Nov 21)
This is the gun James Caan used in Thief.
Nope that was a hoag longslide
Beautiful pistol! But then, the Springfield Loaded you got rid of was very good too. What happened with Springfield such that you decided to not own their products?
Search it and you will find a ton of information. In a nutshell they withdrew opposition to gun control legislation to protect their own interests, then said Oops, the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing.
Springfield are fucking trash, colt make the best 1911s shy of bear and wilson
👍🏼💯
How much colt 1911 gold cup in pesos
Rosewood grips.
It’s a beut Clark.
Nice gun i have a couple colts a couple kimbers and a couple Springfields . Hands down with mine the Springfields shoot best..
Springfield is a damn good gun, but I would never buy another one. I got rid of the one I had and got a baby dessert eagle 3 in 45. Gold cup is my next gun to get
I WANT COLT COMMANDER
STAINLESS 38 SUPER
@THAILAND
Its a reproduction? I never see a gold cup with these sights. Serie 70 have elliason sights
that's right, mine is made in 1983 ( end of production ) and has elliason sights as well
Why you keep riding the hammer down it’s fine dry fire the thing, I’m a 1911 collector have 23 in my collection les baer Wilson heirloom precision etc.. if I’m not scared to do it to a $7,500.00 gun you will be fine
If I dry fire it the safety nazis hit me up. If I don't the gun gurus do. Welcome to the internet - can't make everyone happy. Don't worry though - the Colt has about 500 rounds through it and is running just fine.
Who cares how he drops the hammer.
@@snowlothar45 😂it's a damn fine gun, nice video. I must say i perfer my rounded top to your flat top.
Friendly word of advice. Nobody really gives a damn what all comes in the box. No need to spend too much time on it. Nice gun. Looking to get one myself.
If you don't care what's in the box then you're an idiot. Unless your parents buy your stuff, you should make sure you got what you paid for and unboxing videos show what you should get.

No one watches these videos for the paper work fuck head. It should be mentioned in passing at most, not drawn out in detail. Besides every gun comes with the same fucking papers. Manual, NRA stuff, lock, and warranty card. Ever buy a gun before shit for brains?
@luvfreedom, you just proved my point, idiot. If you watched the video, the gun came with a lot more than you just mentioned.
I like it 🤷🏿♂️
If you don't care about what's in the box then you're super-gay.
Which gun is 4299$
@Fred J3 thanks
สวยๆๆราคาเท่าไร
The only way I would buy another Springfield gun is if they would drop their prices for a couple of years I'm talking tisas and rock island armory prices then the gun community could see that they accept responsibility for their mistake
My box is original it's cardboard.
Is that the cardboard sleeve with a wood grain pattern that slid over two half Styrofoam molded sections? I believe it said Colt, union made on it as well. Or is it the nicer blue cardboard box?
Reproduction?
Not a original. . .
What? You think it's fake?
@@eldesgraciado6690 I think he mean't reproduction
@@donatematchacookie i think it's reproduction s70 gold cup NM.
Mine sucked
