Very true. China border is closeby and they keep continuously travelling. Also BRO was working round the clock to improve the roads under very difficult situations when we are here.
Yeah I initially had planned to stay in Shimla today on way from Rampur to Pune. But it was continuously raining today for the entire distance and Narkanda was completely snowing. So changed the plan and drove directly. Hopefully will be back to Shimla soon. Cloud formations were so beautiful and I did captured multiple complete rainbows
Yesterday plan was to stay in Shimla while we are coming from Kaza. But it was continuously raining and Snowed before Shimla and Narkanda. So continued the journey instead of stopping. Hopefully will be back to explore the places suggested by you.
Hey OP, U r really a gr8 guy, the way u talk in video and the way u reply every critic or comment is awesome ✌️, God Bless U and thanks for share ur adventures n experience with us .. Cheers !!
Thanks for the feedback. For me personally RUclips is just for experience sharing and nothing personal. And I am open to learn things and explore situations I have never been before. And only way I can do this is, when I accept things I don’t know 😀 Please do stay connected 🙏
Completely agree but sometimes it’s a trade off. Especially I cannot afford winter tyres just for one small trip. So can get away with snow chains. As most of my drives are on road or muddy terrains in western ghats I cannot go for snow tyres for few hundred kms. But you are right 👍 We have a vehicle with BF Good rich and performed nice without even snow chains (I thought to replace my gurkha tyres with same initially but I couldn’t get them after much searching)
Hi thank you for checking this. Basically from Hyderabad but settled in Pune but mostly explore all the places and regular traveller Please stay connected
Hi yes diff was not applied here. There is very less place too navigate and usually when diff locks applied we have to be in as much straight light as possible to avoid consequential damage (hope my understanding is correct). As it is not possible here, other alternatives are explored.
I used to do all this in MM550 till I realised that it is a useless and polluting thing which does not go with the quiet and serenity of the mountains. Also this is the main reason that the natives do not like wannabe offroaders in these places anymore.
🙏 agree with you but this was in way to village due to heavy unexpected snowfall. Btw for these localities tourism is the only source of income in off-season
Was diff lock was used in this rescue operation? was it really helpful? or it is just useless toy provided by Force!!! whatever force claims are falls after seeing this video. i was planning to buy one, but after this video my eyes are opened. thanks man. i think their is more hype than practical use. i think Thar is more capable Vehicle than Gurkha.
Hi, generally when the diff locks are applied the expected to be in the straight line, and when the front diff locks are engaged then you can also feel that on steering. This situation and place had very little chance to keep vehicle in a straight line, so diff locks are not engaged. But this actually happened when white gurkha recused the local Gypsy. The snow level was very high and even with snow chains the vehicles didn’t get the traction needed.
@@StudiousWandererso we should do Off roading only on straight lines? in off roading their will be situation that your vehicle is on turn or you have to turn your vehicle. in that situation do we keep locked rear diff lock or we open it? front diff lock is for straight line because its difficult to turn the vehicle. if we are not going to use diff lock because of turn. i guess then there is something wrong with diff lock system. Thar diff lockers have no such problems.
@@scorpio9156 sorry I wasn’t aware Thar have a differential locking. Will double check on that. But yes for offroading purpose 4H/4L always available irrespective of terrain in Gurkha. But yea Thar and Gurkha have their own usecases and uniqueness. And even me first love was Thar but gurkha was ticking more checkboxes ✅ for me. So went with it.
@@StudiousWanderer Thar has sensory base diff locks. you can use rear diff lockers in Gurkha while you are turning, but while doing that your rear wheel should not have so much traction that it will not slip the rear wheels. because of diff locks your rear wheel is going rotate as long there is power is delivered from your engine to wheels. open diff lock concept, while turning inner wheel rotates less and outer wheel rotates more. but when you use diff lock they are going to rotate equally. you have to consider that your inner wheel slips on the surface while turning. your guide in Spiti has some wrong concepts of off roading which he has acquired by experiences and not with technicality. do you know why he deleted his youtube channel?

Agree but most of the travel is on roads and mud trails and only for few days in Spiti. So tried snow chains as workaround, as it’s expensive to have only snow tyres for short trip.
Yeah but mostly use the vehicle on either mud terrain or Normal roads, so snow tyres are amazing for Himalayan roads but other places might not be a good idea. So alternatively used snow chains.
Thanks for checking. Definitely not. These are the well laid roads and covered by fresh snow fall. We are Using existing means of transport without trying anything new.
