Army Truck drivers in High Altitude inject a little petrol with a syringe into the intake at times. Also, they doing let the engine get cold. They start the engine for 10-15 min every hour. The drivers have a rotating duty, at least the bare minimum no of trucks.
You didn’t use anti freeze in diesel and coolant either.
These Butane cans (long ones) are good only for camping and stage 1 High Altitude (10,000ft) and upto 0°C. Beyond that you need to carry those thick body round cylinders that mountaineers carry.
Also, for flame a flint lighter like Zippo is best for such situations.

Good Gutsy Adventure, but venturing out alone is dangerous. Consider these items if you don't already have them. 1. Magnetic electric sump heater 2. A 1KW petrol generator 3. Cheap rubber mats (works very well to heat up the oil sump or pan may need to pour some petrol or diesel on them to start a fire) Also works if you are stuck in sand or mud for traction 4. Energy bars 5. Vodka (Not to exceed 60ml) 6. Clothing has to be in layers, thick jacket alone doesn't work and head being the most important area to keep warm. Good Luck.
The best part about you and your video is the level of calmness you have in yourself. The part where you were not able to cook food and neither the heater was working, If I would have been in same situation trust me I would have gone insane. Great learning for me. ❤️❤️

Points that I learnt:
- Park with Bonnet in East direction (for sunlight just in case)
- carrying alternative fuels (match sticks and old gas stoves) apart from gas stoves and butane
- be "very cautious" with Diesel engine in Snow
- if targeting for -20, then prepare like -40...
- and many more small but helpful things...
P.S. companies only want business. One who is serious about the Product, invest a lot in it. Looks like Force doesn't care about it and they just hope that something magical will happen & their product will rise itself 😑

I am curious to know one thing, I had asked long back in one of your Gurkha videos(don't recall you answering), Why not remove Front left seat and leave two seats on the right. That way you get a full length to sleep, you can make a flat sleeping surface by adding something in place of front left seat, something that can house drawers or something. That way space is utilized. I know you must have done your research, just asking out of curiosity.

With windchill temperatures must be closer to -40°C if the ambient air temperature is at -25°C. The Oxygen at that height of 16700 feet on Shinkula Top must be really very low. It is quite a high pass. That has to be the reason that the diesel heater, stove gas etc all failed. Maybe the Gurkha also needed to be parked in a way that would reduce wind chill effect. Some insulation blankets for the engine bay. I think itna Extreme testing toh Force ne bhi nahi kiya hoga.
Bilkul sahi hai Sir. Itni extreme testing Force ne bilkul bhi nehin kia hoga. But ye har kisi auto manufacturer ko karna chahiye.

Aur Tata ki baat na karna hi behtar hai. Engine fiat ki, gearbox hyundai ki, platform Landrover ki, electronics china ki. Itne dino se 4x4 nehin de pa rahe hain Harrier/Safari mein. Kya hi kaha jaye.

I have been there for 2 years while in service at the height of 24k feet and I can feel what you are going through. We were not fortunate to stay in doors!! Hats off to you, what you did was gutsy.
Not the fault of the Vehicle. Taking and parking a diesel vehicle at 16,500 feet with -40 degrees Windchill overnight, is definitely not a good idea. No diesel SUV would start at these temperatures, unless they are specifically modified (extra engine heater) to tackle such extreme cold.
Was Antifreeze added to the fuel?
If this was done in order to test, then extra battery, extra person, some coal to heat the engine from beneath, petrol gas stove for heating water and food should also have been taken.
The army actually burn a small fire beneath their metal fuel tanks in the morning to start their vehicles.
Some water should always be carried in metal bottles so that the frozen bottle can be heated directly on a small makeshift fire. At least there would be something to drink. Plus it is a great source of warmth, if kept inside the blanket.
Anyways, hope the best outcome for DCV, but nonetheless, quite reckless.
I hope this is a lesson to all of us to how to properly prepare for such altitudes.

seeing your videos, I have made up my mind to go with the petrol thar. because if I would go with the diesel gurkha or thar, I will always stress turning off the vehicle in this weather

sir st of all hats off to ur courage to be on that harsh weather its Nxt level of feeling nd yes definitely u learn a loot and I watching your Vdo'S m also learning a loot, bt don't take life for granted in these situations ,2nd amazing entho towards vehicles , being a mech Engg just a suggestion by my personal experience never rely on diesel fuel vehicles on extreme cold temp situation any brand period , once u switch off the engine nd the head of the engine gets cold its tough to restart it , or else u need to keep the engine running which is a no possible situation with BS6 so better prefer petrol vehicles , maintenance less , service cost less , long life , its only the fuel is a bit costly but comparing the fuel prices diesel &b petrol doesn't hv a gr8 margin though and 2nd comparing petrol vehicle over all with a diesel vehicle still petrol supersedes diesel ones in all matter considering personal vehicles. believe me I have a petrol that and I am 200% super satisfied in any situation, thank you fr all your efforts always.

Propane camping stove will work in cold not butane. Maybe a portable battery jump starter might help. And if you use a different engine oil for these cold trips it might help in cold starts.

1.Cold start wali problem ko dekhte hue mere dimag mai aapke kahne se pehle he ye khayal aaya ki q na ek spare battery ko ander fit kra de jisse ki low temperature mai wo kaam kr ske .
2. Before goin in extreme cold areas car in thermal insulation kra lena chahiye tha., Pta nhi aisa kuch hota bhi hai ki nhi. But we can try with whole body. Afterall jb damping ki ja skte h sound proof krne ke liye to jrur he temperature control ke liye bhi koi na koi solution jrur hoga.🙏.
3. Extreme cold se bachne ke liye husk and cow dung cake ka use kr skte hai kya, jo wahan easily locals ke nearby available hota hai, sure it will help you to reduce the car internal temperature jisse ki situation itni deadly nhi hongi.
Coz jb car pr heat resist krne ke liye cow dung use ho skta hai then y not in cold.

This is a commendable video for extreme situations. However I think expecting ideal performances from a vehicle in an extreme situation is also not right. As also other stuffs didn’t work I think it’s pretty normal that the engine didn’t start as well. May be next time you could think of insulating the fuel pipe and the engine block to avoid fuel freezing which seems to be the main reason.
When ur not sure of cold start, park car on a long incline so that u can try starting by putting in second gear and using car momentum
