Side note: if your backgrounds are of a "plastic-like" material, be sure to place a clean "dish towel" or similar fabric over the top (between the background and iron). This will help prevent any melting of the plastic background. Excessive high heat ironing could damage the background material. If melting happens, just go to your local craft/fabric store and find a "cheap" swatch of material that will work for you...be sure to check the remnant bin if there is one (...many times you'll find something even better than the plastic backgrounds). It's a DIY solution, so you'll have to cut it to size...maybe even fabric glue some velcro to the corners...but still an affordable idea. (Cheap construction paper will work for the background too.)
I have seen these, I cant say they are on my recommended list. :-) I have a work table I push against the wall in my studio and use white poster board taped to the wall and then bended onto the table. Just use two light stands and two shoot through umbrellas that I also use for my video lighting. Works good. Basically just need 2 dollar poster board from walmart and your good to go.. If it gets dirty through it away, comes in various colors, semi matt finish and doesn't need ironing. :-) Its what I have been using in my current videos that have product shots. Cheers, Joe
Is it possible you can upload those test shots (unedited or edited, your choice) to something like instagram or flickr? I'm about to buy this thing, for free even thanks to this $50 coupon US Warehouse is running for new enrollees) and I wanna jump on it, but I like to see examples/reviews about what I'm about to get before I get it... I mean I suppose I'm not losing much of anything, given I'm literally about to get it for free, but it'd still be nice to see some example photos, just so I know I won't have to get another one in short order.
I'm a total photography novice, but my son is going to lend me his fancy camera so I can photograph my ceramics. The biggest vases I make are about 12 inches high. They would fit in this 24 inch tent physically, but is it big enough? All the products I see photographed in these tents are quite small, like CDs and stuff.
I dont think youd want a tent for photographing vases. Something more natural, just like on a coffee table would have more impact. But if so, I would suggest something bigger. You need the light to bounce around in the tent, wouldnt work well if full.
What size lens were you using in this video? I am trying to find a good lens that can take ebay photos. I was told a 105mm micro..just wanted to get your opinion. Thanks..Great review.
I came here hoping to see you how to fold the cube back into the little circle. I’m so dumb, I’m not able to minimize it back to that circle position 🤦🏼♂️
sorry to bother you friend, just wanted to ask, if I found the tent + lighing + different backgrounds for just under 70 bucks, do you consider that a good deal ?
yeah very good deal! I just checked on this product, because this video was over a year old and it looks like they removed it from the site sadly. But if you can find something like this under 100 bucks, not a bad deal!
I ironed my backgrounds, worked fine. Once they are smooth store them rolled up in a tube or you will need to iron them every time.
+k4p84 Great point on rolling them up!

Was wondering how to store them. Thanks 👌

Even cheaper and better imo would be a white plastic table cloth from the dollar store.

I've had the Cowboy Studio one thats very similar, this is actually cheaper. Does the material feel sturdy or that its going to tear at any minute?
what I'm looking for is photos and how you successfully used this product!!
thank you!

I believe it was the 24-70. For product shots I would use a macro/micro lens. Try the Nikon 60mm if you are on nikon
thank you

How do you clean these? Mine didn't seem to come with cleaning instructions or I lost them since buying it several years ago.

Great video thanks for making...your goatee isn't even driving my OCD crazy...lol
help! how do you fold it back??
I can’t get it to stay up
maybe its a bad one? Mine unfolded without issue and stayed up. Maybe try stretching it out a bit more.
Eric Rossi thanks for replying back love. I actually opened it incorrectly that’s why it wouldn’t stand. I got it though thanks.
What is the material of the colored backdrops?
more silky like
