- Why is it that Johannesburg downtown even the CBD is Feared this much?
Today we gonna explore the CBD from the center outwards to downtown Johannesburg passing by under the bridge at END Street. Here we see our struggling street sisters pretending to be selling something else yet it's a trick to get their needs from potential customers. Clever way of doing a smart street work without being noticed. I guess we can't judge them for wanting to put food on their tables.
As I continue walking I was really shocked by this place (JEWEL CITY) downtown for I found it very different in a way. It being downtown yet it's a little (Sandton City) surrounded by what many would think dirty downtown Johannesburg South Africa really amazed me.
I will then walk u into hectic Johannesburg CBD with so much crazy adventures UP TO PARK STATION TAXI RANK finishing our walk in Johannesburg Park Station.
I experienced a lot during the walk...is Johannesburg really safe? is it dangerous? We here again to find out.
U are free to make your honest opinion about this Beautiful City that has so much history, bad and good with so much to treasure.
If I can walk here, u can too.🤝

I'm concerned about environment around the city, why's so dirty, nevermind the security, what's the municipal mayor doing about this dirty environment, so disturbing really.
Alangeorgr22339 You are right I asked myself the same question..Black people can't lead south Africa they must go all out of the power. No law enforcement
it was such a clean country many years ago. A SHAME now!
Don't judge the entire country by one tiny area that has not been tidied up, most of the country is run by decent citizens who take great pride in their surroundings. South Africa is still a great place!
Baie dankie vir jou antwoord; Dit kalmeer my bietjie, en ek ken ook die goeie dinge uit die Wes-Kaap. Alles van die beste!@@juliamilford1979
it was great for whites years ago now it's a free country
I was there 20 years ago in Joburg. Seems to have gotten better than what I remember of it. Jewel City didn't exist at all back then. Seems to be a blueprint for the future of Joburgs CBD.
All that trash didn't put itself there,I blame the city and its citizens for that mess
Jewel City is fantastic and unexpected, JHB is really full of surprises. Nothing dangerous looking, just sad in places. The potential for the city is enormous, give it another few years and people will be flocking to enjoy it again. Thanks
Jewel City amazed me big time. Made me proud . And yes Johannesburg is just sleeping giant. He will wake up stronger than before sooner or later though I get hurt in other areas at current status.
I would fear gentrification.
@@iainlee4274 why?
@@juliamilford1979Because of the inevitable rise in the cost of housing.
@@iainlee4274 only small-minded people will fear that.
The amount of trash littering the streets of Johannesburg these days is quite scary. Who is responsible for removing the trash from the streets ?
I love your videos... I'm really considering visiting Johannesburg... I love the scenery... And the Women are beautiful... Much respect!!!!
Please do!
🙏🏾very useful. Now I have a clearer idea of what I should expect once there✌🏾
Thanks 🤝

hi to my African Brothers and Sisters spend 3 months in Jozi this year with all its problems is still a great country the potential is there in the people every part of South Africa should be like Jewel city they deserve it greetings from Ireland
Indeed. Couldn't say more🤝
Wait, where is your black pride. It looks like you left SA to live in a white run society.
We’re not your brothers and sisters if you are Irish…
Oh my word son it needs a lot of cleaning up God be with u angles beside u please please keep alert at all times love to my family kisses to princess
Thank u so much. I will stay vigilant. Greetings from Family. Gob bless 💕
And I would also like to say a few words about people in Joburg.
I find them very welcoming and the children particularly well educated; welcoming you with a "hello sir" when you pass groups of schoolchildren in uniform.
I particularly remember a rather elderly taxi driver who dropped me at Park Station who took time to tell me that it was better to avoid venturing on foot towards Joubert Park and what to do if I was in trouble (enter a building and go near a security guard if I wanted to use my cellphone, for example).
And this charming lady from the Rea Vaya Park station who wrote me on a piece of paper which buses to take and the connections to reach Soweto. She was surprised that a white tourist would take the bus to Vilakazi Street. 🥰
I am glad U made it safely. You are a good example that any race can still walk and ride in the streets of Johannesburg. Proud of you🙌😊
We are all god's children! That negative racist comment, that this other person made, saying we are not brothers/sisters because the man is Irish! was very wrong! of the other person's negative comment!😢
Thanx bru for this video... love your positivity would love to walk alongside you in the CBD soon....😊
Most welcome Bro 😊
Thanks my brother for sharing your journey
My pleasure🤝
It looks so empty. Where are the people?
Nice video peace and blessing brother stay safe I'm a subscriber from the us via panama 😎🇵🇦🇿🇦 keep up the good work stay bless my brother 🖤🙏🏿👊🏿👍🏾💯
Thanks, I really do appreciate 🙂🤝
I used to remember walking as a child here it was so clean for that city now plenty garbage along the streets what a shame
I just don’t understand why they won’t pay to have the streets cleaned up
Me too ...
I don't see you with a camera. I assume you are using glasses with a camera. What kind are you using?
Why are the streets so dirty
Used to be clean, but taken over by outsiders who treat Joburg like their own dismal countries.
Lol.. that's deep
Get lost. Its lack of cleanliness also has to do with the way the government runs it. Not just for “foreigners”, PA 🤡
I am from the US and I've been to Johannesburg three times and have seen areas like this that's tras everywhere do it ever get cleaned up but I've seen areas where it's super clean can anyone tell me
It's just some hiccups. It does happen some places when workers are on strike or something of that sort.
Clear video❤, are you using your phone?
Interesting watching Jewel City. What's the name of the fruit?
If I am not mistaken,it's a coconut fruit
Yes the women are beautiful, energetic, ......! Generally the people all look wonderful, vibrant, ....!
No doubt 🙂
That much trash laying around tells me they don't care about their neighborhood.
Things are getting a little out of hand but once cleaned, this city area will amaze many.
❤ thank you
You're welcome 😊
is it Hillbrow my family was there in the 70,s and 80,s from Holland.
No. But I did hillbrow,U can watch it here👇

Wow that place was clean years ago now looks at the place wow what the mayor is doing 😂 . Why people selling on the sidewalk very soon the city will be just like vallege.
In the U.S. whenever an area in a city becomes "Black majority" the crime rates skyrocket. This same situation has plagued South Africa since the end of apartheid. Just speaking the truth.
I don't think so, maybe if U say where there is poverty chances of crime might go up. There are so many areas, countries and cities where there are only black people but less crime .
Crime in Namibia for example is minimal yet it has a more of a black community.
It's a misinformation and an insult to say where there are more black people there is more crime .
Nothing like that.
Southafrica always was more than 70 percent black population.yes now it went to 83 percent black population plus coloured 9 percent.
It can not be cleaned
Where is black hanging
The yams in Joburg is crazy! Also why were certain groups of women all wearing the same color?
Not sure but they must had their reason..
@Walk_Africa Cool, thanks for the quick reply. I just subscribed. I was in Kenya. I met 3 south Africans 1 white and 2 black. The white man Made me not want to go to visit SA. He was a real A hole!!
Wow wow. God Bless Africa
Thanks for watching 🙂
Ah ! 😂 isn’t that me and my friend in the thumbnail
Are U for real 😄
@@Walk_Africa yes lol. I’m the one wearing the blue shorts
Love your channel brotha
I appreciate that brother 🤝
Dirty streets
The central government needs to do a restructure of the municipality system of governance from the present structure if they really want improve governance and infrastructures to get to South African citizens.
The present structures were designed and created by the old colonial people to suit their style and purpose of rulership/governance.
Watching this video, I can see a lot of potential, especially for private enterprise, if only the government will allow some restructuring.
There is so much conflicted interest within the municipality, district, and local, whatever they are called, which gives a lot of gaps for embezzlement, corruption, and waste of tax payer's money and the citizens are the one's suffering.
Seems these people in charge do not know what each other is supposed to be doing, each expecting the other to do certain things and the community's surfers when not done, yet the money's allocated are flitted away and the projects left undone.
I want to buy a home in Africa but I am disappointed in my Africans for all the trash on the ground you must be clean not filthy
Are U going to buy a house in those streets U see trash? Come on don't get that mindset.
Check my neighborhoods videos on this channel come tell me what U think after. Besides, south africa is part of Africa. There so much goodies in the continent including south africa as it is.
🦓We used to do window shopping in the evenings go to movies eat at a restaurant and go clubbing in the 80s all in the centre of Johannesburg !😇🙏🎭🌞🌈🕺⚡
Was great safe times I believe. Thanks for letting us know 😊🥂
Lol, I remeber a few years ago when I decided to walk from the Carlton Center to SAB world of Beer on Moiriam Makeba's street. I was sooooo scared but in the end, a lot of worry for nothing. 😉
Now, I'm not saying Johannesburg is safe; just like Cape Town. I love walking around town, mostly alone but being a white person I am often the target of beggars or pickpockets. It's not uncommon to catch a hand in my pocket. In total, I count 8 robbery attempts and one phone gone. Be careful though, especially if someone distracts you or follows you too closely. Be extra careful at ATMs; especially at Park station for instance.
I feel much more at ease when walking with my black girlfriend; even if she's not the one who will defend me if something goes wrong 🙃.
In this regard, she told me the story of one of her friends who was attacked and stripped of her clothes near a taxi rand. People can be so desperate and you can even be killed for a 20 rand note.
In some places like Berea or Hillbrow, violent attacks sometimes take place: a stabbing or a bullet in the leg and then once on the ground, you are robbed; it's really sad.
Also be careful if you walk near Zoolake where we witnessed an attack in the park.
What I blame the city of Johannesburg for is this waste on the ground everywhere in the street; the smell can sometimes be very strong. If the municipality took the trouble to do a major cleanup, this city would regain all its charm.
Some bad stuff there and yes that does happen and can't paint the whole south africa though 😊
U had some good experience and yes pickpocketing is rife in some parts, need to be vigilant and some parts very vigilant. Don't carry your backpack behind but Infront 😃 crazy though but only in those hectic streets in the CBD, small Street, Bree Street to mention a few.
Why so many people are standing in the street aimlessly? Is it unemployment?
Both areas look alright to me. I would feel safe.
Very True .If only few things can be sorted the city will shine again.
Bro the thickness in south african women is out of this world
😀🙆🙌
@@Walk_Africa That is my dream destination then colombia
I am amazed. U will not be disappointed by coming here😊🤞
The place is an absolute dump. No wonder nobody wants to invest in the area.
The locals won’t even pick up their own trash and stay out of the street on the sidewalk where pedestrians belong
Try Walking at night, maybe around 8PM
Why would I do that brother?
@@Walk_Africa well, I want to see something.
@@kissmlungu7883 I wouldn't do that, when one look for trouble u will definitely find it. Night time isn't recommended which ever part of the world u go especially places like these.
Not a good idea.
@@Walk_Africa
Did you place a camera on your body ? Or you actually holding your phone🤔
I am holding it😄
it looks like lagos nigeria slums
the dirty streets as expected jozi eish.
Eish Bru...
why the road full of LITTER so
Thought downtown would be cleaner than it looks 🤔
Lol yeah neh
Dont underestimate I was held up at gunpoint by 6 people with guns at my car in daylight...people get shot for a phone....darkness is a no go
Jewel City looks just fine.
It really does 🙂
One could say that cleaning the streets should not be a priority. How can I disagree?
What is jewel city?
It's an area close to maboneng in the Johannesburg CBD. One can come for shopping or to have fun with family and friends. Nice park as well.
OMG, you people make the American ghettos look fabulous. JoBurg is too dirty.😮
It needs a lot of cleaning please 🥺
Fact..
M from kzn n was robbed in jozi ..don't fool people
Sorry about that incident, it does happen.
Why don't we see videos of this place b4 94
I wish I was old enough to record by then.😊
You have to confront your prejudices and fears if you are White and affluent and say shame on me. We were there two years ago on our own. We stayed in Kruger Gate and Cape Town. Even the poorest black people had manners and were friendly and had a smile on their face when they talked to you. This is more than what I would expect just walking around downtown in NYC or Chicago. The people dont look at each other and walk by each other without acknowledgement and certainly a smile. I come from Chicago and went to law School out west In Spokane Wa. Even walking the streets downtown you would look at someone, smile and say hello. It took me a full six months to put on my blinders when I got back home to Chicago. And we experienced the same thing when we went to India on our own. The people even the poorest, were nice, and many wanted to take our picture. This would be unheard of in the States. So like I say. Confront your own prejudices and fears.
😂😂..so litter is never collected in joberg
They do collect and clean but in a very limited manner I believe.
Still can see Dudula elements
Jo burg? Not the jo burg i remember from the 80s...looks like a trashed out war zone,go to Sandton..
Joanesburgo e cidade muito bonita e linda mulheres também 🇿🇦👏👏👏👏👏👍😎🇧🇷
You can see the reason for apartheid.
This is called Tropicalism.
Dude why do you lie on your video’s, you and I both know that it is not complete safe to walk in JHB. I am speaking from experience of not one or two attacks but many that i have witnessed and being a victim as well. Show people the reality and don’t make up words that anyone can walk there. I really do enjoy you videos it reminds me of my younger days around those areas you walking. Keep up the good work but be real ✌🏽
But I am not here for the negative side. It's all that we hear on media. How about the good side? Who will show the good side if people the likes of me don't.
We both know crime is everywhere around the world. Why should we dwell on that?
I made it my mission to show the good side that has been overshadowed by negativity.
I don't say there is no crime, but should we judge every place and people for few bad people?
I guess no on my side. But I feel u.
Thanks man for your input 🤝
Don't really hear much on media, why is this?
Interesting that 3 out of 3 school girls wore trousers as uniform. Has this whole gender thing really spread to South Africa where girls can now dress in a boys school uniform?
Lol..I really am not sure about that.
@@Walk_Africa Well I'll be writing to the principal of the school first thing Monday morning lol

So much trash everywhere. It is an eyesore to watch this. Why does the city not clean this up. Ugh.
