I shoot a lot of social media content and just shoot horizontally all the time and crop to 9:16. With the 6 k downsampling I find it sharper and even better for that purpose vs the FX3's 4 K sensor. I have the Tamron 11-20 2.8 and the Tamron 17-28 2.8 and that pretty much covers anything I need from wide to portrait which suits my style of filming.

It’s been two months now and I can’t decide which to get because although I can get the FX3 it will leave me with almost no money for lenses or any kind of rig. As im choosing Im reading Jung’s “Men and their symbols” and the other night I had a dream where I was talking to some woman that knew about cameras and asked her about which camera I should get and she was like “I don’t deal with anything that’s not full-frame” and I woke up and thought “Maybe that’s it?” But then I realized this woman might be my anima that is also the very materialistic side of me that likes to buy expensive stuff just for the sake of it. Im not very technical when it comes to cameras so my only doubt is how much of a compromise will the fx30 be when it comes to shooting in low light. Useful video anyways
It's hard for me to really help make that decision for anyone else. What I can say though is that right now, I would only personally buy an FX3 over an FX30 if I really needed that high iso base at 12800 if I was going to be working in environments where I have little or no control of the lighting. Otherwise, there's honestly no reason I'd consider the fx3 right now, but again, that's just my personal opinion. I genuinely do think the FX30 can keep up super well with the demands of the broad filmmaking world and, for me, it's got everything I need. But to make your decision you should consider the situations you'd be shooting in, not just the style of projects like commercial, documentary, etc. And if you find out there are aspects of the FX3 that fit better, go with that. If not, I'd say save yourself money by getting the FX30 and then use that money for lenses, lighting gear, audio gear and so on.
I had the FX30 and upgraded to FX3 to get the ISO 12,800. I do interviews of tattoo artists and I am often in indoor environments with less light (like tattoo conventions) where I can't control the light. I really love the low light capabilities. So easy to work with.
Second base for fx30 should be cleaner than that of fx3, 2500 iso is 6250 in full frame terms, so 1 stop lower than fx3. Although not personally tested but I’ve heard testimoials that fx3 does more aggressve incamera noise reduction on the higher base iso. Lens play the real difference here, large aparture AF lenses are only available on ff (like f2/f2.8 zooms or f1.2 primes) but 1.2 - 1.4 lenses on apsc (f1.8 - f2.1 equiv) are “good enough” for low light. I’ve shot on f2.8 (f4 ff equiv) indoors and it overexposes sometimes on second base by +1 so I’m confident that 1.4 lenses should serve most purposes other than very dark situations. Curious as to why zv e1 is not a consideration if you want ff? Is this because of FX specific features? Anyway, Hope this helps your decision!

Hi George, thanks for great video. Let me ask you about one moment: u mentioned E-mount, and a lot of lenses options for this camera. And on 15:51 on b-roll u show bts footage with... i'm not sure, but I think it is dzo arles prime, which cost the same as FX30 itself. That's a lot of money, especially if we are talking about few lenses with different focal length. And if you want to switch to a different camera in the future (like Canon, BM, RED or Alexa), you won't be able to use these lenses with it because of E-mount. But this same lens is also available with PL-mount and it can be used with FX30 via an adapter (like metabones or dzo or else). And in the future, when switching to another system, you will only need to buy another relatively inexpensive adapter and use your lenses, without having to buy new ones, and it will be much cheaper. In your opinion, does this approach make sense, or do you prefer to buy lenses with a native camera mount without thinking about the potential camera changing in the future?
@@jeremypitt2355 I personally prefer buying native lenses for the ones I'm gonna own and then renting whatever I need for one off projects and adapting them if I need to. Though for the case of the Arles, I was actually using it with an adapter as well. In general though, I feel like it's the smarter choice to get Pl mount ones and adapt for example, instead of locking your choice to one system.
I picked up two Blazar Remus anamorphics which come in EF/PL mount. Gotta say it's great to have lenses I can use on multiple cameras brands as I move forward. I was shooting on Blackmagic Design cameras, but have recently switched to using an A7s iii and FX30 as I also shoot event work. I have bought some native E mount glass for the use of AF, but the best images I've got out of my a7S iii are with the Blazar Remus lenses adapted with a cheap K&F Concept dummy adapter (you could also look into getting an adapter with build in NDs which is a great addition).
Loooove my FX30s for the price it is unmatched and I will take that statement to my grave. It is a great stepping stone to other great cameras too! Great stuff.

No, that's not it. I do genuinely think it's an amazing camera, but I had a few other things to consider. One of them I mentioned in that I could keep using the E-Mount glass I already had, which was nice. But beyond that, there were little things about it that I just found harder to get used to.
This is probably the way!
Loooove my FX30s for the price it is unmatched and I will take that statement to my grave. It is a great stepping stone to other great cameras too! Great stuff.
@@jondoeslifestuff Agree! I love this little thing. So much fun to use and has so much potential too!

@@MeilikPepper Appreciate it!
@ I appreciate that you review the camera nor share your opinion about it from an influencer POV but from a personal experience, while covering everything that needs highlighting.
Keep it up 👍🏼👍🏼
what about s5ii?
@@tr.hacker6995 Honestly, also an incredible choice and especially if you can get it with a discount. I've tried it only once though and something about it just didn't click for me. But I would definitely be open to giving it another shot as I've seen videos from other creators that do make it look like an awesome choice for a long term camera
It didn’t click because panasonic is not “trending” or isn’t on a lot of people’s radar.
No, that's not it. I do genuinely think it's an amazing camera, but I had a few other things to consider. One of them I mentioned in that I could keep using the E-Mount glass I already had, which was nice. But beyond that, there were little things about it that I just found harder to get used to. Again, great camera, the FX30 just fits me better for now.
