This is by far the best review/work I’ve seen on the BMPCC4K (lol and I’ve made quite a few myself, shameless self demotion I guess). Everything you said about the camera, I agree with completely. Amazing work, thanks for sharing. I’ve sub’d, rang the bell and looking forward to more content from you.
This is a real and honest review which I'm sure people will appreciate. Completely agree with all your thoughts Garth. I absolutely love this camera and currently use it as my A cam. Now that BRAW is available, it has got even better. Great work btw. It's subjective, but I'm also a fan of the handheld on the shoulder look. Used moderately, and in the right circumstances, it looks fantastic.
This little thing is so good (after the firmware update), that we are debating actually getting rid of one of our secondary RED bodies. For doc stuff where you need to travel, light and easy really is a BIG determinant..
Late to the part on this one, but agree with everything you said. And hilariously, I am watching videos on the Pocket 4K because I currently own one of those big gimbals, that takes ages to setup, and is very confusing... and I am looking to sell that and run my pocket 4K on the Ronin S! Seems like a MUCH smarter way of working. Brilliant job Garth.
This is a stunning review. So unbelievably helpful. Showing real footage the whole time, not getting caught up on silly details, just telling it like it is AND THEN linking all the gear! AHHHH! I LOVE YOU!
FINALLY someone reviewing cameras who actually gets paid in the real world, by real clients, for the work they produce with said camera! Everyone else reviewing cameras on RUclips just has them sent over by sponsors, they make a review video, then the camera sits for the rest of its life. Sad state, but the overall tech review quality has gone down the tubes with all the young, "rich," RUclips kids crowding the content. Thanks again Garth - I will be subscribed so long as you're making videos. Cheers.
Thank you soo much. Yea, essentially that's what these cameras are made for, to do work and to be paid for that work. Im going to be creating lot more content, got another video coming tomorrow ;)
These are really beautiful images. I think smaller cameras are the way to go now, especially in the age of iPhone films. This camera is definitely on my wish list.
Finally a true filmmaker's review from someone who is a true artist and understands his craft. It's exhausting to watch people give reviews a day after they use a camera. Plus, all these automatic robot cameras have really made everyone believe they can be a film maker. It takes way more than that. You should think of premium video content so you can generate revenue from your obvious expertise. Thank you for this great refreshing review. Subscribed.
Thinking seriously about saving for a pair of these for a-cam, b-cam stuff. You look at all the options, and this little camera keep coming out on top for me.
Great update on your thoughts. And they're valued, too. Mad thing is...your The Colour of Light video (5 months back) is what made me decide to pay in full for mine around 3-4 months back. No messing, just give my full amount and waited. Still waiting. Ha! Still, it have given me time to collect all the other things I need.
Probably the most honest and best real world review about this camera I've see on youtube, and I think I've watched all of them. Your footage is absolutely beautiful/amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Would love maybe in a future video of going into detail about how you personally rig out your BPCC4K (i.e. how you've connected it to V-Mount batteries, etc.). Amazing footage what I'm guessing is from your time while making the Disunity Poaching film? Anyway look to your future videos, and the finished doc when it releases.
_窮 oh it is :) but it wasn’t connected to the camera :D I borrowed it for the shoot but didn’t have the correct Dtap cable for the camera as it was before the camera was officially released. So it was more of a counter weight than anything. The rig I really want to get is the Tilta cage with battery grip.
Garth, great video. I also had wanted the Tilta cage but ended up liking a new cage from SmallRig that has a handgrip that fits a battery. I felt it would be comfortable to grip. One of my criteria is that I already like the right hand side grip of the camera so I went for the half cage. The handgrip fits rapidly onto the cage which is great is my camera goes in and out of my bag a lot and I want to be able to rapidly assemble it. That's arriving tomorrow!
Oh man. This is far and away my most favorite channel. Unbelievable, I just love it. I have never ever seen anyone actually test a cam in real world. Never this way. Garth may just be the genuine article. Your style of shooting is so gorgeous. I can now UN-Sub all the others because this is how it really should be. Thank you so much Garth De Bruno Austin.
Thanks for the inspiration. Twenty years ago, I sold every camera I owned -- every one of these a still camera... The biggest was a Burke and James 8x10 view camera. I couldn't stand seeing something I wanted to create, and not being ready -- fiddling while the light faded, digging for a lens, unfurling a tripod. But I am slowly working my way back to cameras in my life... Starting with $50 dashcams. What can I do with that? Run it for 10 hours -- see what it collects ...amazing what we do not notice. Trail cams came along. I added $2 lenses for close focus, and I watch smaller animals living the way the live. I also bought a GoPro, then a steady mount for it -- then a drone with 4K 60fps -- every camera barely big enough to see, including a pocket 1080p camera -- but each enough to tell a story that may not have happened with a bigger camera. The BMPCC 4K is on my radar -- the biggest I am wiling to consider. Too good to ignore. Maybe. We'll see.
Garth this is the 3rd video I've watched of yours and I have to say, I feel like I'm in a classroom. I love the fact that I can simply go back if I missed something and I dig the simple way you go about explaining every detail. I come at this as an audio guy so this is new to me. But I have my BM camera and I'm slowing building up my equipment. Keep doing great things and I'll keep watching.
What a sensation review...very honest POV , with some fantastic cinematography...thank you...I know these things take time to make...so again thank you for such a great insight into this camera.
It's insane how good the internal mics are. At this point I had just come to accept that I'd never be able to use the internal system and would always have to use an external mic, but not having to always have a recorder with me makes a ton of a difference.
Why does this channel not have a lot subs? Channels that take forever to get the point and are not organized have tons. Good job mate. Keep making quality videos. You deserve over 200ks subs asap!
D K thank you soo much! Really appreciate it. I must take the blame for not uploading as regularly as I should. I will be uploading more often though 👌
Best and most realistic and down to earth review I have watched on this camera. Defiantly seems useable out of the box with the addition a DTAP or Battery Pack.
your review style is very comfortable. You are calm and not rushing through the video and you show diverse images of you with the camera or the material you shot with it. It's relaxing, entertaining and informative at the same time. Thank you. You earned yourself a new subscriber.
I love mine, I use it in tandem with the URSA 4.6k, great as the b-roll gimbal cam. I added a v mount cold shoe onto my Moza Air 2 and run off a light v mount power source and it's a worry free all day solution. Great video, and epic camera test locations.
One of the best BMPCC 4K reviews - totally appreciate the effort you put in doing this video. Stripped down to the basics positives and negatives. Thank you!
Thanks for the review Garth! I've been really contemplating about getting the fujifilm xt3 because the BMPCC 4k has been on back order for soooo long, but after watching this video I'm content with waiting til its available. Thank you again!
Great review Garth! Loved the short you shot for Blackmagic. Now that blackmagic have implemented the Braw and updated the battery usage I have no issues at all with my BMPCC4k, the image is stunning, the Braw is incredible and its lightweight and professional all at the same time.
I’ve seen quite some footage of the pocket 4K and they look great...but your footage is off the charts amazing and looks like it’s shot with a 50K camera, just wow!! Not to mention your content about this camera!,
Hey Garth, first of all I have to confrats you for those amazing images! I've watched over the years a lot of review videos of collegues but I have to say you're doing an awesome job with your review. Objective yet with insights how you use it. Ride on. Very pleasing to listen and watch your video, great work!
What an incredible review. This is an amazing camera in the right hands, and you clearly managed to bring out the best in it. I’m still waiting for mine to arrive and I have a feeling it won’t come for a while. Thanks for the video :)
This is the best review I've seen so far, and very honest from what I see. I'm thinking of buying the bmpcc 4k instead of the 6k, since as a film student, I don't think it's necessary to work in a resolution as big as 6k at this point. Thanks Garth!
Hi Garth, loved this video. Great job and so nicely delivered with your calm, relaxed style. Appreciate your work. Just bought the camera a couple days ago but haven’t picked it up yet as it’s in Singapore. Can’t wait to get working with it. Cheers.
Wow!!! My favorite are the scenes with the horses!! The dynamic range looks great and those colors look amazing and natural - I like the color separation and the luminosity curve there. The colors from the night scene with the car are less natural and less complementary, probably because of the style of grading, but hey that's another look. Sharp but smooth. :) Damn I bought Samsung NX1 for double the money 5 years back... (best for price then) I want it now!!
Awesome work. I truly appreciate you sharing your passions with us and also to see the beauty of your imagination come to full creativeness. Please, if you would not mind listing the type of lenses and mm you used on the different shots right below the fps. This surely will be immensely appreciated. I will be waiting for other videos.
Very good review, and the footage is top class. Almost wish you made a short documentary film with it. I love the footage of driving through the bush at dusk. It looks clean.
Thanks for this review. It's more in line with what I've been hearing from people who've used the BMPCC4K for a while. I am dying to get it. At the moment, I am shooting with the Panasonic GH5. I even shot a feature film with the GH5. I subbed. Hope to see more lovely BMPCC4K footage. Cheers.
Great review, thanks Garth. I really like the quality of your cinematography, which is a good advert for the camera. Also cool to see images from South Africa :)
Not interested in the camera as it doesn't suit my workflow but man your review is spot on! Great job and GREAT footage! You earn me as a follower from the first couple of minutes of the video.
Awesome, absolutely awesome. Thanks for the great review and the phantastic footage. I am convinced. Oder is placed, now I just have to wait patiently :D
Footage looks exceptional. It Hold's up well with RUclips compression and it's clear you have made it work with your workflow.

Amazing work, thanks for sharing. I’ve sub’d, rang the bell and looking forward to more content from you.
Agreed! This footage is ridiculous. Inspires to shoot!
I am a filmmaker from Europe and this is the best camera related video I have watched on RUclips
01:35 This shot - the colours just beautiful, inspiring work bro

It's called the Pocket 4k because when you use it you have to pocket 4000 batteries.
Lol but this video does solve the issue:

Yep zi know I trid it already but it only powers it for two hours. It is not too bad but neither too good..

_窮 I actually don’t have any v-lock battery mounts for this camera yet, I’ve basically bought 8 LP-E6 batteries and just used those.
@@GarthDeBrunoAustin so what rig are you using in your "The Colour of Light" video? The large attachment on the shoulder rig looks like a battery.
_窮 oh it is :) but it wasn’t connected to the camera :D I borrowed it for the shoot but didn’t have the correct Dtap cable for the camera as it was before the camera was officially released. Thanks a really great review covering filming situations that interest me, real life in many forms.
Great Work Mate, also the g1 vs g2 comparison. The footage you capture looks very stunning. Keep it up and regards from Germany 🖐🏻🙂

Loved your ursa mini pro review, love this one as well...
Footage looks crisp and clear great shots
Looked for hours at footage from many camera’s. Your footage will be more than likely be the deciding factor. Tnx.
What a great review. I really like your style. Taking your time to describe everything!
Suuuuuch a good review Garth, thanks so much. Definitely helped me decide I want to pick up one of these beasts!

Awesome review and very helpful. Beautiful video footage! Thank you.

Oh, man. This was a great review, with some great footage.
This looks so well shot. So well lit.
