I'm a 62 year old Canadian who had Matchbox,Hot Wheels,Corgi,Dinky and probably some other diecast models. I always thought the diecasts from the UK were better built and more realistic. The Hot Wheels models were flashier but with wobbly wheels. I loved them all, but Matchbox and the other Brit diecasts still get my vote.
I think that's true . You love the cars you grew up with. I remember matchbox as a child and I prefer them. I liked the old fantasy matchbox cars more than the newer hot wheels fantasy cars.
That nostalgia buzz I get with Matchbox I don't find with other brands so often, occasionally with Corgi. I also find that buzz with books I read as a young child like Dr Seuss and the Ladybird Books.
Growing up in England I had Matchbox, there were Corgi and Dinky too but they were beyond my price range. After my father passed away in 2011, I started collecting Matchbox cars again, I think the two are connected. This video has had more views than any of my BookTube videos...
Well I thought the algorithm was trying to fool me Jim. I have watched a few of your bookish videos but was searching Hotwheels over Christmas for storage solutions for my 2 year old grandsons ( very much not being "collected") dinky car hoarde. Good to know its just some crossover. Happy 2023!
'The stuff" in my channel title, allows me to stray away from the books occasionally... I have far too many little cars. Thanks for commenting. Wishing you, too a happy 2023, good luck with storing his hoard
Hello, Jim! Nice video and explanation of the main difference between the two brands. I don´t have a single Hot Wheels in my collection, but I really like a lot of the more modded or "wild" models they have been making over the years, many of them look very cool. But Matchbox is my favorite brand with Majorette and Corgi on second and third place. Keep up the good work, looking forward to your next video. :-)
Thanks for taking the time to comment. We have similar preferences for brands, mine would be : 1. Matchbox 2. Corgi 3. Majorette 4. Hot Wheels 5. Tomica The next video is more likely to be related to books and reading, but I will make occasional videos about diecasts, you can see an earlier video of my Matchbox shelf on this channel.
My channel is mainly dedicated to content about books and reading, I made this video because a post on my blog about the same subject was getting a lot of views. If I do other videos about diecast cars, I'll let you know.

Matchbox are my favorite, too...partly because of the nostalgia...
I like virtue over vanity, so I choose MATCHBOX!
Matchbox is my favorite.

I grew up with Hot Wheels. I used to have a dozen or so as a kid. No clue what ever became of them.

I agree with you ,matchbox definitely
I do have a lot of Hot Wheels, they're much easier to find, but Matchbox are the cars I grew up with and the cars tend to be more realistic.
Again agree
Nice video ... Will you add more videos about other diecast brands? ....
