Congrats Brandon! As a 16" M1 Max MBP owner I can guarantee you are going to love your new machine. I think realistically you will get 5-6 years of use out of it, if not more. I plan to wait a couple more cycles before I upgrade. Mine never misses a beat. Cheers.

Ive got an M1 macbook pro 14" & its awesome ..I guess if your doing 8k vid its worth an upgrade if you have the budget ..have fun & enjoy it

Brandon..just wondering..even though now its the older M2 chip..around the price range and a little bit more..have you ever considered getting a Mac Studio?..even though obviously you have to have a monitor etc..
I did consider the Mac Studio but since I travel and do Sony events at times and so much , Mac Studio wouldn’t be for me
Im going to 4tb of storage this time around. The freedom to edit photo & video on device without and external media while on the go is clutch. I have a 2019 intel mbp 16 with 2tb & i wanna take it to the next level

There’s 2 versions of the M3 Max with a 14” screen. I ordered the 16 core cpu and 40 core gpu version.

@@BrandonColePhotography Yeah, they have it hidden behind another menu. It's one the page where you customize your order... I'm not sure why they did that.
Love your reasoning. I bumped up to 64GB, I do agree 4GB ($250) external SSD would be an acceptable storage upgrade.

I was going to order the Macbook Pro 16” with 128gb ram and 2tb memory, but I am going to buy it with 64gb ram and 1tb instead.
the whole M line up is a beast but you definitely paying that Apple tax, but it is worth it for a tightly integrated system.
I love the improvements and if I had 7 grand to throw around right now I’d buy the maxed out model, but the pricing of the upgrades with the new MacBooks and making it where you can no longer upgrade your own RAM like the Pro models before is honestly where Apple went wrong with these. I gave my wife my M1 when I was able to buy an XPS with a 3070 on clearance for $999 and spent another $230 to put a second SSD in it and 64gb of RAM.

Forget about buying a laptop every 4-5 years. Apple is now doing yearly updates on the MacBook Pro like the iPhones. You are going to have a hard time resisting a purchase after 2-3 years. Just get a decent middle of the road laptop.

ya'll need to pay keen attention to the presentation AGAIN. lol I do both photography, videography and graphics. I can tell you for a fact, this is all a marketing strategy. There is a reason why Apple kept making reference to the M1 throughout the entire presentation. Simply because the M2 chip is just as powerful and in most cases MORE powerful than the M3. Especially the 14 inch M2... go n check the specs for yourself . I have a M1 Mac and I am yet to see that machine sweat . it's not even about the money at this point it's about the math/practicality. $1500 with anything 8core is a crime in 2023
I appreciate your comments on the subject. So I will say first of all, there is not debating that the M3 is almost 40% faster in speed and performance then the M1. Now just because the M1 is still operating good is a great thing. Again I personally have the M1 Pro, and I can tell you from using it for about 3 years now, editing large productions, Slog, h.265 even 8k sometimes on my A1 or A7RV, and seeing the render time diminish, I can tell you it runs sluggish at time. Not to mention at the time I bought it, I think it was 14 or 16gb memory with a significant lower cpu and gpu. I also didn't buy with the intentions of having something that was future proof. So after some researching, it's better for me to invest and get it over with. 1500 with 8gb of memory and 8core cpu and 10core gpu in the base model is not the way for me in 2023 going into to 2024.
i agree, i got an m1 macbook pro and its so smooth and fast no hiccups, my adobe apps has not froze or died once! i read somewhere that the m3 was more aimed at old intel mac users looking for an upgrade.
