In part three in our Honda Rancher 350 top end rebuild series, we’re preparing the head for installation on the engine. Watch John remove the valves from the head and then prepare new valves for the Honda Rancher 350. He’ll evaluate the valve seats with Prussian Blue and then lap the valves to ensure that they seal properly. Finally, John will complete the valve assembly in the engine.

Just like your video before this video. There both so helpful & in such detailed. This 👆 video is so good its like you was standing here beside me as I installed the piston, cylinder, & the head. Thx for share these kind of videos. Thx & ride safe.
Thanks for the videos! Will the cam followers come out with the jug off? Have no noise at idle but a good knock under a load, valves are at .006 and the whole top end is new except rods and cam followers, I know the knock isn't piston slap or valve chatter, only happens when revving, sounds like a rattling exhaust sheild( checked for rattles and don't have any, this is pretty loud) also, machine runs great tons of power. Been to Colorado up steep mountains elk hunting, worked it hard runs perfect. Again no noise at idle ever, gets a hard knock when revved up.
I had the same problem with one of my bikes, i realized it may came from the crankshaft bearings, when i replace it both, that noise dissapeared
What grit for lapping
Do they make a whole rebuild kit, that is oem? Instead of having to order everything step by step?
I have a 99 honda foreman 400 I'm trying to set the valves but I cant set them both at TDC what could be the problem?
thanks!
Hey I have a Honda rancher 350 2002 and it died in the water I pulled it out asap and gassed on it when I started to blow as much water out as I could now it starts ideals a bit then starts blowing smoke and if I gas on it it starts blowing heavier but when I let off it stops idk what’s rong with it I’m about to buy a engine rebuild kit but I wanted to ask you first
I just got a spring compressor And my valves are so tight it bent the thing that you twist to tighten it how els can I do this and why are they so tight
John I don’t know you but I need help rebuilding my Honda 400ex. I seen your video on the top end rebuild 3part video which I say is very helpful plus I’ve seen your cam chain timing video but I haven’t seen a bottom end rebuild video. I have everything to do the job I just need some direction.
I can try to answer questions as they come up, but we will add it to the suggestion list and try to get a video done!
I need help with a broken value cover bolt. Whats the best way to remove it..Thanks
With an extraction kit.
What is the fluid you use call to set the new valve
Are you talking about Prussian blue or the lapping compound?
@@PartzillaParts name of the lapping compound
A 350 Honda I got today the guy said he was ridding it an it lost power a went off ant run sines he said some one told him it cud be v the valves in the head but it will not fire pull starting it and gear
Why won't my 2001 rancher es shift it will shift up and down until I reach a certain speed then I have to shift manually or restart the machine and it shifts up and down all over again
Sounds like either the shift motor is getting weak or you have a problem inside the trans with a bent shift fork. The reason it will shift at certain speeds is that you are rev matching the transmission so that it is the easiest (no load) to shift.
Partzilla thanks for the reply. Could it be a bad battey?
