One of the saddest moments in the first episode of the second season of House of the Dragon, called "A Son for a Son", was when Blood and Cheese asked Helaena which of her two children was the boy. Helaena, after telling which one it was, ran to Alicent's room to tell her the sad news. But why did Helaina act this way? Helena is not a warg or greenseer, she's a dreamer. Now maybe im wrong but i thought that they have said that all three are separte abilities, but Bran possesses all three that is why I think, he is the three eyed raven. Probably wrong but im enjoying the banter, lol.

I feel bad for Haelena and her babies. They became colateral of Otto Alicent and Creston Cole greed hatred and jealousy. They think by stealing the Crown from Raeynera that everything will be fine. Which is why I always said, Team Green doesn't deserved the Crown. They failed to understand the dept of the TARGARYEN DYNASTY. They're not just Royalties and dragon riders. They are DREAMERS as well. Their ability to predict the future is the main key of their survival. I always say, they could've use Haelena to their advantage. But they just always dismissed her. They only care about power and the wealth of the TARGARYEN'S. They failed to understand that if it wasn't the TARGARYEN DREAMERS they wouldn't be where they are right night now.
I bet if Raeynera was Haelena's mother she and her babies would've been still alive. Raeynera has deeper knowledge and better understanding about her ancestors. It's one of the reason Viserys chooses her as his heir.

the few people complaining about her acting during blood and cheese don't really get how the show built this character. i actually like that she is consistent with the under-acting of emotions regardless if she's very scared, and that she is seemingly coded as possible neuro-divergent or maybe on the spectrum as a manifestation of experiencing an excessive amount of dragon dreams most of which are shown to be very disturbing in nature.
at first it felt like the delivery of the line "the boy is dead" was just flat. but then i had this joke explanation for myself that maybe bloodraven accidentally spoke out loud through her, which is why it's a flat monotonous speech. but then now i think she's actually mastered as a person the art of NOT going into hysterics because she has seen dreadful things inside her mind since childhood. we see in the show that as a baby she supposedly cried a lot, and this is probably the phase of her still having normal human reactions to the dragon dreams. but as time passed, she became more withdrawn and seemingly spoke to herself. i think maybe at the time blood and cheese happens, she's already accustomed to keeping her emotions at bay. even when she expressed her fear of rats, she was quite calm about it. so when she said "the boy is dead", now i imagine that all the horror is inside her mind while her emotional guard was completely protecting her from sinking into physical outbursts.
but i do think that her ultimate fate in the book is still her fate in the show, because she seems to also be heavily coded as cassandra.

The Blacks. Rhaenyra was the true successor. She had been trained by her father. Viserys knew that his cousin Rhaenys had a stronger claim to the crown and by rights she should have sat the throne, not him. In his mind he was trying to not just right a wrong, but instill in the kingdoms that a ruler can just as easy be a queen. He could have chosen Daemon, but that would have been a catastrophe. If Viserys had died while Rhaenyra was still married to Laenor, I think she would have had a stronger claim. Daemon has weakened her claim due to his recklessness.
I would be on the side of Rhaenyra. She was chosen by her father to sit on the iron throne. Those were his wishes, and he never wavered.
I don’t think she was acting strange, I think she was afraid that one of her kids were about to be murdered.

@@souradipmanna She's always seemed sort of autistic so I don't think Helena was out of character either. She was shocked into silence with fear that seems realistic enough to me. She also is a dragon dreamer so maybe she already knew pieces of it and already had some acceptance about it. The terror on her face was convincing enough.
She's nothing special in the source material either. She gets arrested by queen rhaenyra when she takes the throne back and eventually kills herself by throwing herself out the keep window. That's literally it😂

It's because she did not want him to be king. I think that must have made obvious in the episode. If you remember in the beginning of the episode she's like what if he doesn't want to be king and maybe something about the three-eyed Raven told her somehow someway or maybe she was so desperate not have him sit on the throne that when a choice came she got rid of them. I believe the whole war happened coz of greedy Alicent and her cunning father Otto. When King Visery clearly told Alicent during his last breath- Rhynera will be the next Queen. She literally changed that and informed everyone, her son's will be the next King.

For Helaena, she had no mentor nor guide in the use of dragondream skills while Brandon has the 3-eyed raven but not for long to keep him engaged with the present.
Helena is a dreamer and seems to know about things before they happen. However, she reveals her dreams in riddles, so most don't understand what she is saying at all or not until it's too late.
The book reads like a history book, so one doesn't know all the nuances of these characters.

I think she dreamed of that instance with many outcomes...and I bet some of them were nightmare fuel. She knew what would happen if she lied....because she dreamed/saw that outcome. (I hear in the books it's really bad...). So you would be terrified too to realize a dream you've had is acting out in real time....and what would happen if you did not choose right.
she acted "strangely" because she recognized the men. Saw the different outcomes...knew what could be the worse outcome for all three of them. (her and her children.) I'd be terrified.
I thought the scene was underplayed that's why noone understands Helena's response, including myself. But, if it is how you explained, then Helena created the blood and cheese attack. As you say she was having visions or dreams that she doesn't understand, therefore unknowingly she creates the attack. She told Aegon that she was afraid of the rats, he then had cheese catch all the rats in the red keep. That's how cheese gains the access to be able to carry out Daemond's request. That being said, in the moment of the act maybe she kinda comes to that realization.

I have not watched any of this new season season or series because I can’t afford to pay to watch any shows right now, but I am following along online because I don’t really care about spoilers for myself, but it has been mentioned several times by different people that they (the twins) were really hard to tell apart . Is it possible that She lied and pointed to daughter and told everyone that they killed the boy when she actually swapped them? Wouldn’t that be an insane change from the books?

I would follow Rhaenera. Her decisions are based on Team Green's lust for power and Alicent's misunderstanding of King Vicerys's words to her about the prophesy, then her refusal to admit to her wrongdoing.

I would support Queen Rhaenyra because King Viserys chose her, and was the only one he told about the Song of Ice and Fire to(in the show at least), she took her role seriously and was well prepared for it, and because any one of her children would have done the same after her, as they were raised with a sense of duty, whereas the Hightower Targaryens were raised with the notion of pure entitlement. Also they were more easily used as pawns, and so would pliable in the benefit of a few houses in alliance with each other, rather than the benefit of the realm as a whole.
I would be House Stark because I can respect their history and sense of duty. They raised their children to respect the power and privilege they were born into, and understand that it was given to protect their people, it is to be earned, and wielded for the benefit of the people who keep them in that position. They understand and respect the value of their smallfolk, and are unwilling to order an action they are unwilling to carry out themselves. They understand they set the example, the value of their word is detrimental to their success as rulers.

I am on Rhaenaera Targaryen's side. I find the Targaryens unusually captivating- bit just their looks but... something else. I guess it started with Danaerys, her marriage, her Dragons, then going back in time to House of the Dragon - Daemon and Rhaenera- I just feel a loyalty to them I can't put my finger on.

In the book the king was only about 10 years or so older than Alicent but in the show they make him seem so much older. So it wouldn't be as bad being married to him in the book version
