You make it look so easy! I have a female cockatiel who was clipped and has grown out her wings, She flies into walls, windows, ceiling fans (off), outside! (happened twice already!) etc. I am also worried that she might fly up to the high ledge in my room that is very high up and very dusty. She would probably die from how much dust there is. It is hard to clean way way up there. Also, your bird Duckie has very bright cheek patches for a female. Mine are pale peach color.

@@matthewkilpatrick5533 Every word Matthew, every word. So grateful to have been able to find him! It's so very important that our birds know how to fly to down to us. After that, I started taking him to the basketball court at my church. He loved it! He flew 20 laps most days. At first, he would just land on my arm, or my husband's outstretched arm across the court. Back and fourth, back and fourth. Then he started circling several times before landing on us. Ducky's so compliant and smart!! I'm trying to train my conure right now, and she's just not having it. She won't even step up on command, which she usually does without a problem. She's probably just hormonal, but it can be frustrating when she gets in a mood like this, lol!
My lovebird came with his wings clipped, and I started recall training as soon as he was comfortable with me. I treated it as an additional bonding exercise, and also would encourage him to hop on and off my hand or arm onto my bed (soft landing in case of accidents) now he has most of his flight feathers and not only does a recall, but is also a confident and strong flyer!
My bird does not hop onto my hand. Just sticks her neck out to grab my hand and then takes a long step... and if i extend me hand further she just walks in circles not knowing what to do... any help?
Hey! Need some help - doing this with my ringneck. She's going so well so far - except she won't hop she only tries to grab my hand with her beak and pull herself over. She's too nervous to fly. She had her wings clipped over 6 weeks ago. How do I get her to hop over?
Be patient and she’ll get there, when her wings grow back she will gain confidence. Work on walking recall for now and make the gap bigger very slowly. Good luck 💜
You didn’t really explain how to start saying, “ducky come” instead of, “step up” so how do you gradually start saying for them to come instead of step up?
I’m assuming it’s just over time, it is different than saying step up when your in front of them and Ducky come when they’re a tad farther than that. I don’t have a bird so don’t entirely trust me, but I have been doing research to get a pigeon as a pet.

4:46 thats amazing
My lovebird came with his wings clipped, and I started recall training as soon as he was comfortable with me. I treated it as an additional bonding exercise, and also would encourage him to hop on and off my hand or arm onto my bed (soft landing in case of accidents) now he has most of his flight feathers and not only does a recall, but is also a confident and strong flyer!
Yay! I’m so happy he loves flying now! ❤️
My bird does not hop onto my hand. Just sticks her neck out to grab my hand and then takes a long step... and if i extend me hand further she just walks in circles not knowing what to do... any help?
Omg I just started watching your videos and I’m addicted ily
my bird hates me :/
but i know she loves me.
so i tried this and she just reached for it.
now shes just staring-
Poor u
Aww, I love Ducky! What a good girl!
Good luck 💜
@@ElleAndTheBirds thank you! she's much better now
I used this and I training my bird to play tag thank you so much!
Yknow you could just keep saying step up...
I want to like more than once!
I’m so grateful for your channel.
Person: giving flight training to birb

Thank you so much I just got a bird from about 2 months old. I tamed him but he doesn’t fly back so this was really helpful!
Can you teach us how to get your bird to notice that there is a seed on your hand-
My budgies don’t see it
Edit: One of my budgies is named Micah, and she knows how to fly down to me. I never taught her, it’s just when she goes some where high, I make a fist at her a say, ‘MICAH GET DOWN HERE!’
Feed it to them first
You can use fruits as a training treat!

Nice job! Flight around the house is so cool.
I’m getting 2 budgies some time in may and if it wasn’t for you I would not have been interested in birds! You have helped me so much with learning about birds and I have also watched some other RUclips channels as well. But sadly we are getting the birds from a pet store and I’m very nervous that there wings will be cliped I’m hoping that there not but I will definitely try this method when i get them :)
I taught my bird to do this it totally works thank u so much for this video
Hi Sweety, what kind a wire or cord is Good to use when flying outside? Thank You🦜
I just saw Ducky on the rail side of the stairs she jumped then open her wings and go up landed on Elle's hand.
Thank you for sharing your bird info. I adopted or rescued 3 budgies and bought them a larger cage and of lots of toys for set up. I’ve been watching them and noticed one is the odd bird out from the other 2 and they seem to bully him when he wants to go to the same branch and peck at him. Should I separate him from the other 2 and focus training as he is responsive. The others r very bonded to each other. Just want to do what’s best for him. I renamed him blue boy. Your thoughts. Thanks.
