That count mover one is genuinely ingenious with the parity trick, which i was able to figure out after you showed the step overflow. Very cool puzzles, except for the addition puzzle screw that one
I played the count one myself and it was so clever. Figuring out step overflow, then the parity and which has to go last, then the idea of storing one in the initial area was amazing
The Count Mover one is the only one I couldn't figure out before watching this, but I figured it out as soon as I saw you play and realized that the goal wasn't set at 32 lmao
Final one reminds me of the runner somewhere in one of the legend of zelda games that even if you hack the game and finish in 0 seconds then he finished in / seconds I think
Gotta love trick puzzles, especially how they force you to think outside the box tbh of course it helps if a puzzle TELLS you it's a trick puzzle though lmao
Excellent content. I was admittedly a little disappointed that this wasn’t about puzzles that you would be given by a troll living under a bridge or standing guard in a labyrinthine dungeon.
eyezmaze has another animated maze, though I wouldn't say it has a trick to it in the same way, it's really neat to see a maze as a looping gif you move your cursor through and avoid fire n traps etc
5:27 my solution (spoiler) I would simply place my cursor on the light-purple square in the diagram and move rightward across each square to the yellow square. It never says you have to start on the stick figure or end on the star, just that you have tocstart on light-purple and end on yellow. Edit: oh, you said that too!
I genuinely really liked the Count Mover one, because there was a puzzle within a puzzle. Obviously, you had to work out that the counter reset, but then you have to realise that to get it to actually 00, you have to end on an odd number, and once I worked out I couldn't for the one I usually ended on, you have to checkerboard logic out that only that specific box can end on 00, and the rest is history.
These are all so cool! I dont want to watch too far yet because I have count mover almost figured out (even after you know the gimmick theres a thing with odd and even moves that I cant figure out how to get right)
Cool puzzles, thanks! As a technical note, it sounds like you have either a very aggressive limiter or very aggressive ducking happening to your audio. For most content like this, I would recommend toning it down a lot - both how much it’s doing, and how quickly - or even removing it entirely, and just setting the background audio at a reasonable level. Hope this helps, and lmk if I can clarify anything!
figured out the trick in the first one, but didn't find the solution (whoops) somehow solved the 2nd one (i restarted multiple times until it clicked though) didn't even know how to start the 3rd (what is "light purple"? also i can't keep track of colours i'm dumb) figured out both tricks in the 4th one, sucked at sokoban (but i did solve it!). thanks for sharing!
When I saw the first one I thought it was going to be you had to do 15-1 and if you put anything in the first box you would have to restart the game to do it but the solution was much simpler
Ben's Comments: This is just out of curiosity, but I don't fully understand what you mean when you say that the trick puzzles in Layton's Mystery Journey use the "same trick every time." What is it that separates one "trick" from another?

I honestly really love trick puzzles. They're generally clever and the aha moment also comes with some bonus humor.

I managed to solve one out of all of these I am so proud of myself
Which one?
The last one was my favourite! Behind the trick was another real puzzle!
I actually figured out the snow walk one! And another trick puzzle video would be cool.
I think I would have, but watching this in 144p makes it nearly impossible to see the snowflakes. They're just too small.
I thought the solution was starting at the light purple in the rules section and then just going to the yellow there
i was shocked when you put down the number 10 and didn't immediately say "chess battle advanced"

Love to see the Beekie and Calendar representation!! thank you :)
I thought the addition puzzle would be leaving the middle blank and doing 15+ -1=14
Damn, the box one had me completely stumped at understanding how to end on an even number of steps until I watched the solution.

actually a cool alternate idea though hahaha
Oh the first one's easy.
13 + 6 - (15/3) = 14 *(use the 1 as the line separating the numerator and denominator)*
For the snow walk, you can literally just use the legend
My solution for the 14 puzzle was to flip the 6 to make “13 + 9 - 8 = 14” or “15 + 8 - 9 = 14”.
For the "make 14" puzzle, I was thinking of combining the 1 and 6 to make 16, then put 13+16-15=14
My thought was to use the 1 to turn a - into a + or something
For Snow Walk, I just started at the light purple square in the rules and went to the right.
addition puzzle can also be solved with 15+1-3=14
That’s 13
@@georgerobloxgamer123 shit your right
My answer to the Addition Puzzle is to flip the 6 into 9 and do 9+8-3
Easy right???

it's not literally the same trick every time, but there are a lot of them that are the "lol zero times" variety

So, it means most of the information the puzzles give you is just white noise, and has no real impact on the solution?
Walter we need to cook math

Very cool, I enjoyed the video.
Snow walk only works if you don’t know it’s a trick imo

I only won the second and third. Really cool games

Ohhhhh! "Snow walk." Because you walk on a falling piece of snow...

"You can count on me." The solution... SOMEHOW involves literally counting on the player character?
Not even close...
I don't think the star puzzle one is a trick, you're trying to get to the star of the comet at the top via the castle, no?
i think it counts - the "trick" is that most players won't immediately realise they can use the instructions board.
