I can see the N step Steve dev is going the baba is you dev's route and creating mini puzzle games This one had some creative mechanics tho, that dev doesn't miss somehow
I went to play it before watching the video and found the "going up" using key in like, minutes, it's so infuriating when you find something that takes someone else much longer
this reminded me of when i was playing gta on my psp a friend gave me cheat codes , which i realized made the game a litle pointless, and i restarted the entire game, and for the remainder of the game i was terrified of accidently inputting a cheat code. RUINING the game until my brain started working (age ~20)
That is actually a significant concern for speedrunners of those games. It's always struck me as a little strange that speedrunning communities have wholeheartedly embraced cheating in games, but only through unintended glitches, not mechanics that the developers chose to put in the games.
@@jothki Those are exploits not cheats. Even in multplayer they are accepted unless the community makes rules specifically to ban them. And those cheat codes are not exactly a mechanic, it is equivalent of using comsole comands to spawn stuff.

Why does burning half a bush allow you to go on top after size but otherwise not? The spacing between the bush and block was the same in both, but the block went down in one and did not in the other
I managed to delete every tile (exept the gravity blocks) with the bushes, flowers, fire and size spells (except 3/4 of a block that were adjacent to the last star)
I aqcidentaly fireballed the text area on my first run and it messed up all the text. i did manage to finish that run, but I still don't know why it happened or what it means.

Well, it does have the “the movement is on a grid, and the game moves as quickly as you enter inputs, but no faster” aspects of roguelikes? It has the progression of a metroidvania, but the movement style of a roguelike, I guess.
