- How to play djent / metalcore on a 7 string guitar riff. This weeks riff is quite djenty and utilizes some big chord structures to contrast the low end metalcore chugging lines.
Close your eyes and it's nik nocturnal
If you make more videos like this and of this quality man your subscribe list is going to sky rocket! There is not very many videos of this caliber on modern metal/ djenty roofs that actually break it down and try to explain what’s going on within the riff. I would personally recommend people to your channel if you start putting out more videos like this one great content in this video
So dope dude! Really love that you break it down for the ppl just learning. Don’t find that a lot nowadays in djent tutorials. Do you have a backing track for this riff to play along too man?? Really just need the drums and bass!
First time I ever enjoyed a djent player... Well done 👍🏻
Awesome tutorial, will defs give it a go
NellyBoi_ tac me in an insta post when you complete it! @paulsavageguitar
@01:22 Eb major 7 chord. From thin:high E down to G... 11 fret E/15 fret b/12 g string.

@01:22 Eb major 7 chord. From thin E down to G... 11e/15b/12g strings.
Pretty much major 7th chords
Sounds good. Is there musical theory involved when writing this riff? Just curious, Would love to know why you choose the notes you did. Im always trying to learn and this djent style, technique, and note progression throw me for a loop. Thanks in advance.
Richard Cochrun I’m far from theoretically trained but I just work within a scale by ear. You can hear sour notes or notes that are out of key after years of playing
@@PaulSavageGuitar Got ya, thanks again for the response.
There's always theory involved technically.
I fucking love drop tunings
Mostly DROP-G ( no kidding i only got 2 6-string guitar and found a way to tune one to DROP-G)
hey man, good stuff. if you don't mind me asking, what strings/ string gauge do you use for drop g?
I use 8 string size strings. Very tight. for the last 3 strings you can use the "standard" IE skip a string

Scale length?

Hey great tutorial man, is there any way we could get some tabs to practice on? Would be awesome man. Thank you.
hi what string gauge you using.. thanks
Hi dude. Old video but just stumbled across it trying to get Inspo for a new band in drop G. Can I ask what scale this song/riff is written in? I’d like to play around with it, sounds sweet.
Amazing sir
Really want to know how do you set that chop and short tone without losing sustain.
Is it about the" noise gate" / "compressor" ?
I would be grateful if you let me know how.
Thank you very very much. 💗
You can automate the gate's threshhold.
It's natural drops g?
Invent Animate all the way... Why do you choose Majesty of all things ? Isnt 25.5 is bit too short for drop g. Good job anyway.
Noel Tage I would take that up with Jason Richardson lmao
You don't need a longer scale just get heavier gauge strings
what is the name of this type of djent? so i can become more orientated towards this style rather than the mainstream djent sound.
Great video
What strings do you use??
How do you get that tone? Helix? Fractal? Can you possibly share it to us Thank you
