    Brother, I have really messed something up. After trying to update the firmware my printer is all over the place. When it starts it moves too far to one side and makes a grinding noise and then when it does begin to print. It prints at half height. The z measurements of a 20mm xyz cube was only 10.8mm when finished. What should I do?

    • @B1GJano
      @B1GJano  Год назад

      I would double check you have all the motor wires going into the proper connection spots or make sure none of them are loose. Also, try reverting back to older firmware and see if that helps. Sometimes newer firmware causes more issues than helps.

    • @B1GJano
      @B1GJano  2 года назад

      So for lithophanes, I don’t have particular settings, but I have printed a few and my advice for these is as follows: 100%infill, print speeds (infill; no more than 40mm/s, outer walls; 30 mm/s , inner walls; 35-40m/s )
      0.12-0.15 layer height. They will take longer to print but slower because detail is needed.
      also orient them in the direction of the bed movement (y axis).
      Also a brim on it will help it stay adhered to the bed. Hope this helps.

    For some reason at the beginning of each print, it will go along the main start area, the left corner, but will let out filament before going into the center... Is there a way to fix this? And before I did your settings, the printer actually just stayed in the left corner and started to do the print there.... where was it wrong in the settings to fix this in the future? Im such a newbie.. and I don't want all my prints to start in the corner.... Thanks!

    • @B1GJano
      @B1GJano  2 года назад +1

      So in the start gcode it does pause in the left corner for a few seconds after homing and before starting a print. That should be normal.
      In terms of the oozing, It’s also not uncommon. I would suggest maybe tubing down your hotend temperature 5-10 degrees to see if that helps.

    • @brianmi40
      @brianmi40 2 года назад

      You want this to prime the print head, just pull with tweezers as it's about to move to center and start the print, or, you can often use your finger and pull the "tail" it drops on the print outwards away from the center where it won't matter just as soon as the print head moves far enough away to swipe it gently out with a finger.

Just bought my Mega X and printed the Owls ( came out really good ) and also a 300x300 test bed print ( also good but a little rough on the surface. So questions are ; are these adjustments necessary and do the settings you put in stay as such until adjusted again?.

    • @B1GJano
      @B1GJano  2 года назад +1

      I would say these settings are I normally use on about 90% of my prints. Now, depending on whats being printed, the detail of the print, and material im using, I sometimes make some small tweeks in retraction, temperature and speed. Feel free to tweak the settings to see if you get better results with your material and printer. If you get better results with settings that are different, then use those. Every printer/spool of filament is going to operate differently (even if they are the same) so do what works for you! Hope this helped!

      Cura marketplace has a free add-on that will let you drop in test print models, like a stringing test so that you can quickly test and tune. Also get the short printer prefix name add-on since the Mega X has a crazy small character limitation on the display. that way you can name your files "X...." instead of the long default printer names Cura provides.

      This profile should work for the mega s. You will just need to adjust the build volume dimensions in Cura to match the mega s. Everything else should be ok to use

    I know this video is from two years ago but I used your example to set up my cura slicer for the Anycubic Mega X and the 3d prints I'm getting are insanely bad. Also, I followed your recommendations for adhesion with the Mega and now nothing sticks. I cleaned a 1/8th inch thick layer of glue stick (put there by previous owner) off to get the print plate back down to its original form factor and now nothing sticks. I think these 3d printers are talking to each other because now my Neptune 2s and Ender 3 have gone on strike in solidarity with the Mega and they won't stick either. So are you like a third world revolutionary trying to unite the 3d printers of the world against their owners? If you are then you have a good start on the revolution.
