      It would be great if it lasted at least as long as it takes them to implement all the advertised features. Guess we will never actually get the resume function.

      Ideally it should be 4-5 years after launch or at least continue for 2 years after production to sell compleat units ends so they have stock of spairs for the end of life they could easily liquidate to other resellers in the last year of support.
      But on the other hand I understand that this tech is moving very fast now with ever more fancy stuff being released and the drive to keep up with these mid teir offerings is a fast and hard game . So in that I'd hope a min 2-3 hear cycle launch big sell well then they let it sit on the site to sell as they hype up the new product for year 3 launch that on year 4 and in near end of y3 and eirly mid year4 end old model completely
      (Sorry for spelling quite sleepy here browsing randomly for anycubic things XD) 😺

      I have been having trouble figuring mine out. I don't know much about printing so this could be lack of knowledge and probably is, but I have constant trouble with my prints stringing. Even with my messing around with retraction settings. and I'm not sure this is normal but after each layer the print head moves to the left of my print and goes back and forth a few times.

    FML! I bought this thing over a year ago with the intention of learning how to 3D print. I set it up and let life get in the way (my bad). I just realized I have a couple of days, it's time to learn how to do this! I check RUclips for some advice....and find this! I don't know if I should sell this as a brand new 3D printer to someone who's more experienced with this unit, and go by another with more ez to use features, or just learn with this unit until I can no longer get parts and carry what I have learned to a newer unit at that time....any advice?

      If you’re looking for a printer that will just work out of the box, maybe look at other options. If you want to learn to 3d print and really understand how these machines work and the ins and outs. Maybe try out this machine and see how you fare.

      @B1GJano I appreciate the feedback. I've actually started to use my mega x and I have to say I love it. I wish I would not have procrastinated a year ago when I first bought it. I've learned a ton in the last month, and I've been making some really nice, clean prints. I'm going to keep running it until it falls apart and can no longer get parts, then move on to one of these newer 3D printers or multifilament units.

    I bought a mega x from a liquidator a week ago. I had watched a bunch of reviews and decided this would be perfect for me, but of course couldn’t buy one from anycubic, hence the 3d party purchase. All packaging was 100% intact and there’s no evidence of it ever being unpacked. There was immediately an error shown “t0 sensor abnormal” the tech support at anycubic has been pretty helpful in determining the board is defective and needs to be replaced, but unfortunately they don’t have any. It’s pretty disappointing that they aren’t capable of supporting machines they sold up until only 6 months ago. It looks like my only option is to put in a 3rd party controller. I’m leaning towards the BTT SKR 1.4 turbo. Would definitely like to see an upgrade video!

    I went looking to get a second Mega X, my first had been running strong for 2 years. But had no idea it they discontinued it. I looked at the Kobra Plus which is its replacement but the price is a lot higher then the Mega X ever was. The only major difference I saw was the auto bed leveling. I decided instead to get a cr10 smart which is basically the same build volume it is cheaper then the Kobra plus by about $50. One of the other major reasons I decided to go with Creality is while they do discontinue printers they tend to replace them with models that use the same parts as previous printers then upgrade a few aspects about them. They have been doing that for years. So finding parts for them will be easier in the future then the issues I ran into with my i3 megas S ( and original). It has become extremely hard to find replacement parts for them. So much so I sold all of the printers I had and am slowly replacing them with Creality machines. I will keep my Mega X for a while longer but eventually it will go as well. I have a Ender 3 v2 on the way to replace one of my smaller I3 megas. If my experince goes well with it like the Cr10 smart then I will order more as the replacment for the rest of my small i3 megas.

      The mega x was my first printer. The only thing that ever went wrong was the extruder/extruder motor and the I/O board. Beyond that it always printed great. The Ender 3V2's have been a pain. I can never get them to print anything taller than a few inches before they just fail. I've had to replace the hot end on those things so many times.

  • @auAjax

    Got my Mega X last Christmas. I've spent a bit of time experimenting with settings, different filaments, and in the end just learning a lot through trial and error. I just did my first hotend swap which I'm not even sure was necessary; maybe it was just a clogged nozzle? Again, still learning. I just recently ran across your channel and need to sit down to catch up on what I've missed. At this point, I plan to buy some more nozzles and another hot end or two. What is the likelihood of a motherboard failure or needing to replace the glass plate platform?

    • @B1GJano
      @B1GJano  Год назад +2

      I still have the original bed and motherboard after 2.5 years, but every printer is different. I would say less likely but not ruled out completely. More likely on hotend parts, nozzles, etc. Those components are definitely worth having spares

    • @auAjax
      @auAjax Год назад

      @@B1GJano Recently my Mega X started to freeze mid-way through a longer print. I also started seeing messages like "hotend over" and "bed heat over" on the LCD. I replaced my hotend and over the course of things inspected the motherboard, the PCB on the hot end, checked all the cables. As of today, I started another print, for awhile not seeing any errors, and the back with the "bed heat over". The print froze several minutes later. I have a device that measures surface temperature and if anything, my bed seems a few degrees cooler than it should be; that said I can't vouch for the accuracy of my temp measuring device. Any other ideas? I really think its a motherboard issue as this point and I'm noticing they are getting much harder to come by. Just wondering if you had any similar experiences. Thanks!

      i guess it depends on if you're looking for a machine that you will do some tinkering/modding on or if youre are looking for an out of the box machine that does everything you want as is. That being said, it does print well when everything is tuned and the large build volume for lower price than most machines is a plus. On the other hand it is an older machine in terms of hardware and software and some newer machies have upgrades pre built that this doesnt have.

      I don’t print ABS on my machine for a few reasons. 1.) I don’t have a good enclosure for the machine to keep a stable temperature and to avoid the toxic abs fumes. 2.) the bed temp can only realistically go to 90c which isn’t hot enough for most ABS materials in my opinion. I also don’t have a ton of experience with ABS as a whole as most of what I print can be done with PLA or PETG
