Probably the most beautiful song ever recorded. Ronnie's bass and Kenney's bass drum are locked in tight. Kenney's drum and cymbal sound is remarkable as are his fills. The guitars are perfect, The flute solo is dream like and full of hope. The ending with the harmonica is so original . And then we come to Steve's vocal performance,; vulnerable, innocent , a man truly in love with his wife. Steve Marriott sings from his soul. The greatest singer in the English speaking world, bar none.

I was in the UK when Steve was playing acoustic shows at the Mean Fiddler, given this song and Red Balloon. I thought they’d be great. Sadly I didn’t go. Anyone go to one of these? Be very interested hear how good they were. Then I burnt my flat down, fell asleep boozed with a lit ciggie. I got out, but the smoke nearly got me. then he did the same thing and didn’t. Very eerie, but my life has been a lot like that.

Steve Marriot y compañia, ¡ Por Dios ! eran unos genios musicales y de composición. Que armonía y a la vez, dependiendo del tema a tocar, tan prendidos y tan chingones en su manera de exponer lo que saben hacer.

Indeed! "Black Coffee". "Stay With Me Baby" does it better than Janis Joplin! "Why Don't You Call Me" and of course "Itchycoo Park". Not to mention all of the other good ones! "Hot and Nasty", "Thirty Days In the Hole". A true rock n roll voice!

Here on RUclips there is a channel called Yesterday's Papers. They have reviews by the stars of the sixties of other music of the time. It is striking how often The Small Faces are called out as one of the three or four groups making original music, along with The Who and The Beatles (of course). I am just old enough to remember them on the radio. Not only great memories, but magical ones as well.

A beautiful song that should have been a smash hit on boths sides of the ocean. It seems sad now because all but Kenny is gone and with them an era gone forever.

What strikes me is how amazing it is, that in such a short space of time Ronnie And Stevie we’re writing great songs like this. It took Lennon and McCartney a lot longer to deliver Rubber Soul and Revolver.

The song is always credited to Marriott/Lane, although I wonder if Steve actually did write this one by himself. A gorgeous song either way. Lovely to know the SF are appreciated in la belle France.
