Belatedly fallen in love with The Small Faces. Hubby praised their music to me 30 years ago and I'd heard their songs since childhood here in Australia, always liked it but it slipped under the radar somehow. By the time I was a teen, their fame was eclipsed by a glam chap from their later incarnation. Ah, but they finally caught up with me. Something clicked the other day, and it wasn't just a knee. These lads aren't merely likeable. They're brilliant. Their charisma is more subtle than that of so many who dominated the next decade. Apparently their record label ripped them off. And now I keep noticing how bands that came later carried their influence in chordal progressions, vocals, or mood shifts from dreamy psychedelia to full-on rock shattering choruses. They gave so much to the music industry. To all of them, their loved ones and those who love them, thank you with all my heart.

However, I assume you probably know, that this beauty was written by the also wonderful, but very tragic Tim Harden. Tim wrote some of our most iconic songs like "If I were a Carpenter" and "Reason to Believe", but suffered from the demons of depression and heroin addiction. He died way too young from an overdose. scene in England, and psychedelia. I can safely say that the Small Faces were the most dynamic, instantly recognisable,

As an American I'm always surprised/fascinated by the UK's affection for U.S. country and blues music. Not complaining, as a Houston boy raised on Cream, Humble Pie, et al.

England gave it back to the (mainly white) people of the USA when they took it from the ( mainly black) people of the USA.
I think it was the best thing that ever happened.

@@pyeman6819 .......Jesus, how negative can you be?! The comment was simply an *accurate* appreciation of a fabulous band that many of us still enjoy listening to. I wholeheartedly agree with @micmac09, it *is* a fine cover and the backing-vocals (especially Ronnie’s) were always beautifully harmonious.

@@lindadote I love the Small Faces Linda , and lots of bands cover other people's songs. My comment might be negative to you , but its positive for me , in the fact that someone mentioned the ' cover ' word as if no one else knows that, so what?
If he said great song or amazing interpretation then respect, but to say cover ? I suspect the commenter was wearing an anorak

Steve was full of self doubt and insecurities. He never thought he was that good. Ronnie said that "Steve was afraid of a lot of things, but I don't know why, he has more talent than anyone i know" Peter Frampton once wrote that "although Steve comes off as strong, he was actually quite fragile and needy. He needed some one like Ronnie or himself to fall back on for support." PP Arnold (who was his lover for awhile) said "Steve gave off a tough nut exterior, but underneath, he was a real softie". Steve had his demons, but like you, it only makes me love him more )-:
