Painting Mike Finnegan's Mini Truck

- A group of talented artists came together to paint this classic mini truck during the Take Over Event at Langley Speedway in Hampton Virginia. The process was on full display while custom paint classes were being taught just next to the booth. The event was 4 days long and in the end the graphics were complete but the truck had to travel back to Matt Hutcheson's shop in Southern California for the final touches.

It was great being there for Tamco Takeover 2020 and great seeing the end results.
It was an amazing experience there. My claim to fame for this: running when the breakers blew and helping hold the damn booth up off the truck 😂

Man, I can paint a vehicle, and I am damn good at it, but I stand in AWE of this... all that masking, the airbrushing, and the speed, just wow. Things like this keep me from getting complacent, and constantly pushing for better of myself. Super dope.

I would have paid for all the beer to be aloud to hang out for a day. Place isn't far from me. I thought I heard something about this but I wasn't sure. They definitely got the right guy to film it

No mikes right, the bags have to go and be replaced with a far superior hydraulic system for it to be an actual Minitruck.

Brought back some good memories. I had a 1984Toyota with Inky gambler wheels and was painted Chevy white with sunset red pearl. It was my first paint job to ever do and turned out pretty good

NICE! I'd love to get back into 80s mini trucks after a 31 year hiatus but it seems they've grown smaller and "minier" over my time away.
The amount of preparation, hard work, and artistry that goes into these graphics BLOWS MY MIND! So hard to imagine the finished product when looking at layers of tape and even watching the process.

Awesome. Some don’t realize how long this takes and how complicated it really is. Either 1 guy can do it in two months, or 10 can do it in a week or so…with time to dry.

Amazing work. I know what it takes to do all this as I was a body and paint man back in the late 90’s, easily a free $30k paint job. I’m still a mini trucker but don’t have any connections to get my trucks painted so I’m doing it myself in my tiny 2 car garage and driveway… must be nice to have it all and be able to rely on people to do the work so many have to work and pay for. That Toyota is awesome and will hopefully be at all the mini shows next year…
He has what he has and the connections he does because of his hard work and ability to build his branding but putting himself in the right places at the right time . Hot rod magazine allowed him away to achieve his goals but they didn’t do the work Yo get there he did nobody gave him anything. How do you know the paint job was “ free “ last I checked nothing in life is actually free … I’m sure the publicity that this shop drew from painting this truck will pay out 10 times of what the paint job actually cost with new business and brand building!! Don’t be jealous I don’t have what he does either but I’m not holding that against him I’m not done yet and more is he …
