    Love smite, but people need to learn to get with the program and take advantage of the CC stun and revive teammates, focus on high priority targets, or regroup.

    • @dankevill1010
      @dankevill1010 7 месяцев назад +26

      I actually think Smite is the best psyker blitz and I don't think it's even close... Except people don't actually utilize the fact that it's a giant AOE stun. If you spec for it you can keep multiple large scale threats stunned for 10+ seconds which should be enough to just clear anything.
      But instead they just take assail.

    • @QU67Reacher6
      @QU67Reacher6 7 месяцев назад +3

      If I have teammates that rez and focus targets it's wonderful, but I'm taking smite just as a pause button. Fire it off when we're getting pushed hard and give the team a few seconds to regroup. Even just for that, smite is absolutely worth bringing to a team.

      @@dankevill1010I don’t see assail as much in the higher difficulties anymore. Smite definitely is some OP cc that’s rly nice to have when huge packs of ragers or crushers come knocking. Plus since it doesn’t nuke frame rate anymore it’s worth taking.
      Personally I use brain burst so I can chain kill all the gunners bc I hate gunners, and I run trauma staff to still have cc against tough groups.

    I have one build very similar to this, but for ages I couldn’t break away from using the power swords. More recently I’ve been using the fencing swords in some builds with success. The added speed and dodges you get is great. I’m now going to try using a dagger for even more dodges and speed efficiency. This just makes so much sense synergistically. Thanks for the inspiration and the many violently poetic combat videos you make. I follow a number of these channels, but none of the videos of Darktide are anywhere near so entertaining and visually compelling to watch as what I’ve seen on this channel. They have taught me a lot about playing on high tier rounds. You deserve more subscribers.

      Try illisi V. It's great for killing horde/small fries, keeps you safe. Surge is good enough to deal with single targets.

    • @AamonCannon
      @AamonCannon 7 месяцев назад +10

      the dueling sword really is an upgrade, the knife just has better mobility/sprint speed and better dodge distance, so if you like playing fast like choco does then definitely use the knife, its mainly just for the added mobility though so i don't recommend using it for close range fights, you just do not have enough stamina on psyker to be tanking hits with it in case you get clipped by a horde.

      combat knife is thing for psyker for a long time, ppl spam push-Attack with it.

    • @NoorAgafia
      @NoorAgafia 7 месяцев назад +6

      Yeah, well said. You really sacrifice your horde/melee clearing capabilities when playing with the knife when compared to the Illisi. (knife has 12% dodge distance and the maccabian 8% I think?) I personally think the Illisi, with uncanny strike as well (best melee blessing? you get 5 stacks quickly even with just light attack spam) and slaughterer is probably among the strongest add clearing weapons in the game. Even surpassing the ogryn bull butcher in terms of TTK. It slices through everything and you practically never have to block. But the Illisi has -0,8% dodge distance? it's horrendous. + no sprint distance. It chews through the 3 stam bars very quickly. I can't think of anything that is less mobile.
      Of course deflector has always been good. And ChocoB really shows a lot of it has to do with preference and playing style, (using smite against hordes instead of melee - but then you're weaker against unyielding with no brain rupture) as I would never use the surge staff without 6 warp charges & inner tranquility. Or play without mettle. (when in extended melee, you barely have any peril unless you picked Scrier, so no toughness regen and a single hit takes down more than half of your toughness on Damnation. Just one crit can regenerate 15/20% toughness against hordes with the Illisi.)
      I have yet to try out the Maccabian with Shred & uncanny strike though. The bull butcher is so strong as it regenerates toughness on chained hits (every 2nd hit?) so in theory the shred on the maccabian can add even more crit to it. It's not as good vs hordes as the Illisi, or as quick at dispatching them at least, but you do get more range/crits (compared to knife) and plenty of mobility. Still, the new knife transmog from the shop looks really good.
      Only a few weapons can roll uncanny strike though. (+1 for the veteran shovel) but it not only slices through everything, it can also deal with carapace very quickly.
      The biggest downside for me so far when using the surge staff and the Illisi are rager packs in short corridors. And here the difference in skill really becomes apparent as I get overwhelmed too quickly. Can't really dodge enough times or run away in time (they just chase me down) the surge can't hold them off for long, especially if you're already half way into max peril. I can't block my way out of it. I struggle against this, whereas Choco always manages to create distance. Just my two cents.

      @@NoorAgafia2 cents? More like 2 dollars. Either way good analysis I run Surge staff macabian mkV assail with warp charges and bubble shield. Keeps me covered on everything.

  • @bananawallpaper
    @bananawallpaper 7 месяцев назад +2

    have you tried the left keystone? I find the peril reduction invaluable for channeling smite. really easy to keep stacks up and as psyker you dont tend to use active much so they tend to be up the whole mission.
    also done any playing around with the chainsword? knife is pretty great if you already know how to use it (and you are amazing with it) but chainsword kills mutants with a single shred and builds up bleed super fast (with the blessing) now that you can dodge out of the shred animation for better bossing.

    • @Yorushima
      @Yorushima 6 месяцев назад +1

      Choosing between Warp Siphon (left keystone) and Empowered Psionics (center keystone) somewhat defines how you intend to utilize smite. The peril reduction paired with frequent use of venting shriek ensures you can use smite for significantly longer periods of time, but at higher difficulties an unamped smite (even with extended duration) doesn't deal enough damage to finish off even a groaner. This is not to say that Warp Siphon is useless, just that smite under this keystone becomes strongly weighted towards support rather than offense, and can have questionable value when you're not accompanied by a team that utilizes your crowd control effectively.
      As for chainswords, I'd assume that they're being avoided here because chocoB needs a weapon with high sprint speed and chainswords don't fit that bill well. Also if you've trained your technique well enough that you can do a kill a mutant via combo attack in the same time you can rev up and swing a chainsword to one-shot it, it doesn't make for a very appealing alternative.

    I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, and I always wondered why you push so far back when you’re in a clutch situation. I think I realized it now- is it because nothing will spawn “behind” you in the level? Meaning any new specialist/horde spawns will always be in the next zone, and never from a previous zone (unless it is “ahead” of you)?

    • @hatstealer4638
      @hatstealer4638 7 месяцев назад +3

      Well you can either push forward, stand your ground, or fall back. Pushing forward is bad cause it will aggro more stuff. Standing your ground is often unwise, cause stuff can overwhelm you. Falling back as you fight gives you space to control the pace of your engagements.

    • @Yorushima
      @Yorushima 6 месяцев назад

      @@hatstealer4638 To connect this to the question:
      There are periodic spawns and progression spawns, to which the former happens regularly (hence the name) and the latter happens upon entering each section of a map. When you push forward, you're exposing yourself to both spawn types as well as the existing roamers (frequently an overwhelming volume). Standing your ground can limit the roamers but while chiseling down the existing enemy, you might set off progression spawns somewhere in the area.
      Falling back prevents engaging roamers, saves progression spawns for later, and has the added bonus of accessing resources you may have left behind previously because you didn't need them the first time around (medicae stations, ammo, stimms, etc). There's also the matter of the terrain being less than ideal to engage the enemy and a more ideal area being behind you, which would require relocation.
      The extensive retreating seen here is a trained habit of prioritizing safety over greed. It's possible to fight more aggressively and thin the enemy so that you don't need to fall back so much, but it comes at the risk of taking even more hits (hits that in these instances would result in a game over). As many 'tides "instructors" would say, it's better to give up ground than risk taking damage.
