GUARDIAN OF THE WARP - Psyker Build (Overview + Full Damnation Match)

- I am still hoping Fatshark cleans up some of the blitz abilities within the Psyker's talent tree. Fine tuning that sweet spot is almost there, but it definitely needs another couple balance passes to feel great.
For now though enjoy being a team player and supporting your fellow gunners!

I've been having a TON of success with the combination of Transfer Peril and Warp Nexus on the Voidstrike staff. Being able to lower that peril without ever having to actually stop firing synergizes so damn well with a lot of the Psyker tree. Really lets you ride out around 70-85% peril for all those juicy damage bonuses really efficiently.
Yes I love Transfer Peril on the Voidstrike too, if I went with a heavier dps build on this rather than a support that's definitely the blessing combo I would want. Great recommendation for those looking to score some spicy damage! :D
My man doing the real work of picking up the plasteel and diamantine.
Someone's gotta do it 🤣
Smite with Empowered Psionics, wall shields, and... the revolver 😊
It's not optimal, but it's the most fun I've ever had in Darktide!
Thank you for the vid!
Empowered Psionics works as intended now, but the buff to damage on smite is really nice. Revolver is still king as it should be! Glad to hear you having a good time thats what its all about.
been doing empowered smite with the psychic scream that applies soulblaze for horde clear graia IAG and mk4 dueling sword or illisi force sword for my build, swap sometimes to shield very fun for me @@zenpally
Fantastic video!
Nice vid all around. It's been a lot of fun seeing all the different playstyles available across the board since the class overhaul.
I use a build similar to this for my psyker, but I sacrificed warp expenditure, soulstealer and quick shards in favor of mettle and warp rider. I will have to try the shield wall instead of the dome though. I feel like I've been sleeping on the wall in favor of the dome.
In all fairness, both are great, I favor the wall that blocks full on attacks over the dome. But the dome is great for defending the team while maintaining a good choke point. I tend to use my barrier to block points of entry so I know disablers will get stunned.
I'm messing around with the dome too, I just find more use with the barrier. I'm planning on making a build using the Dome too - just wanted to drop this one first since I feel like the Dome is being overused rn.
Great video!
Thank you! :D
Been running the dome. I feel like the toughness regen inside helps keep everyone in the fight.
Absolutely fine to run the dome, it's got a great boost in regen that is incredibly useful.
Personally I find the barrier useful during specific mission conditions since it can actually block entire specials from entering and killing the team quickly, but I will be making a dome build very soon too. Stay tuned! (:
I used to enjoy smite and dome shield with the voidstrike staff last update but since update 14 it just doesn't feel right anymore
Rn I found this build and I'm currently really liking it:
Brain burst, mostly left side of talent tree, taking both soul blaze perks and soul blaze venting shriek as well as warp charges. purgatus staff for crowds, with warp nexus & flurry blessings and illisi mkv blaze force sword with deflector iv and soulblaze iv it gives you a defensive option and more fire, you'll constantly be at 6 warp charges with all the burning, embrace fire mage!
If you have any questions on what specific perks i took so you can match feel free to ask
Feel free to let me know you perks too, this sounds like a great build to run if you want to go back to brain rupture.
If you care to share, you should make the class here and post it for everyone to try out.

post the link here when you can :D
Post the build my man! Teach us the ways of the fire mage!
Share the build bro, wtf!
Share the build bro
Sorry!! I didn't get any notifications from RUclips 😭
Posting it as soon as I can
Ive done just about everything i can think of right now with my level 30 Vet, started a Psyker a while ago. Its been an adjustment, but im liking it. I just go back to my Vet when I need materials.
That's the trade off when leveling, I remember that grind, but picking Veteran was a very smart choice, as most of the weapons are shared with the Veteran, gathering materials/blessings are much easier with that class.
Really hope you enjoy Psyker, I have been a Psyker main since the beta. We were left in the dust at times, but with the new update it feels great to be both Support and DPS. Staffs have all gotten a great boost in power recently, and with other weapons getting their respective balance passes, we finally have a nice choice of weapon.
I love changing my Psyker for different conditions, very adaptable and always reliable.
Kinda cool to see that my build is very much like yours except a bit less team oriented/selfish. I use Deimos and scream, instead. I find that pug teams I'm in tend to get into more trouble when a whole lot of armor and harder to crack enemies come our way so I prefer to double up on being able to take on crushers, etc, more easily.
No such thing as being selfish when you know where weaknesses lie. I might just be more fortunate tbh, lots of my pub matches are usually with a good stacked team. I don't like to show off "unclean" runs but it definitely happens. I usually am the one picking up people or having to focus on the bigger threats. But I've put a lot of time into this game and Vermintide now, I understand how it works and how to avoid putting myself in a bad spot.
It sounds like you just like being a leader and making sure no one has any issues when it comes to the heavy hitters, nothing wrong with that. 😎
Nice vid bro
Quick question, how do you get the stats/score that you shown at the end?
I'm using a mod that is called Scoreboard, it's just a nice way of seeing how my performance is during the match.
It calculates everything done in the match, and gives you a general score. I'm sure Fatshark might add something in the future, but until then I'll be keeping this mod on.
How do you get damage numbers in game?
It's a mod for PC called healthbars.
i just returned to darktide and was really happy seeing that the skilltree got a well deserved rework.
i would have an question regarding psyker.
in combination with lighting stave (fast multiple hits)
wouldnt it make sense to use brainburst with the 10% chance to cast a bb every attack? i can imagine that elites and groups would thin out faster with a nice burst of dps.
or are the floating shards (arsail?) more worth to have as an alternate attack?
If you are talking about this build - this was made with the intention of making the psyker into a full blown support class with capabilities of doing enough damage with other means.
Sword for horde and quell, Voidstrike for Elites and range specialists, and Assail for horde encounters for teammates & unarmoured ragers.
The surge staff would work here absolutely and with brain Rupture it could definitely work. The only thing you lose is more crowd control. At that point though you'd be better off with the Dome shield too, since you'll need better ways for toughness regen. Top passives are too risky in later difficulties imo so I like to play it safe where I can.
You can kill elites with assail but it isn't the best way to do so, I rather have them more so for ragers and stuff. But brain Rupture just makes you do single point damage to one target, and maybe soulblaze a few.
The only way around this is your secondary option and honestly Void is still beating surge staff there. Either way you'd need to deal with the pack just in case. Surge isn't enough to kill no more than 2 crushers within a pack.
Lately I haven't had games where I can rely on people to kill them so I make myself strong in other areas that are easy ways out, yours would be a great idea for making a pure dps build. Chain crits and go for high peril proc for damage and make the emperor proud. 🥲
The percent chance to brain burst would be really good, if not for the cooldown on it. In practice it’ll pop on a random pox walker and not be there on the tanky targets. It’d prolly be a better option if it were a 1%chance with no cooldown. Still; if you run BB it’s the better of the added perks.
@@timelyspirit I do think fatshark needs to tune some of the blitz abilities up for the psyker. Not so much the abilities themselves but the modifiers need some tweaking. I do like this current patch though, game feels very good to play and tons of different avenues to explore with build synergy. Look out for saturday's upload :) I use Brain Rupture to its fullest potential.
I personally can't play without any of the parrying swords on Psyker anymore. It deals with hordes should you get swarmed with high peril and it lets you duel normally really annoying stuff like Ragers and even facetank big beasties. All things that a squishy Psyker can naturally struggle with.
Talking about the Devil's Claw right?
I couldn't agree more! It's an awesome weapon that I also find incredibly useful on nearly every class as well.
The parry is very useful when being pushed by ragers and maulers too, recently rolled a great one on my veteran and it's very enjoyable to mow down the horde in a flurry of light attacks.
I definitely need one for my psyker now!
Yeah Devil's Claw. Use it both on my Psyker and (long range) Veteran. You can even parry stuff like Crushers which is pretty crazy. Won't do a ton of damage to them of course but as a defensive tool it is great when your setup is otherwise lacking in close range defense.@@zenpally
@@TheGrouch91 Extremely true statement, literally just had a game where i parried 2 crushers and had enough time to toss a Krak nade in and continue the parry til death. Very satisfying indeed! :D
Wait wait wait. Did I hear I can block shots with blaze sword?? Is that correct? Like snipers???? Is that possible or you mean just normal.
There's a blessing for psyker force swords called Deflector. It will block normal ranged attacks, but not sniper shots. It's good against a few low-end shooters, but a couple of gunners blasting you full automatic will chew through your block pretty quickly.
Got any builds with the flame staff?
I will be making one very soon, just waiting for the right perks to roll for my staff lol
@@zenpally sweet, can’t wait to see it!
I use sort of the same build as you except I have the final blaze sword because it has a better clear and crowd control also I put deflector and another blessing that increases the damage that it does based on how much peril I've accumulated and finally I have a surge staff I use the uninterruptible blessing as well as warp flurry so i can constantly stun heavier units until dead and my perks are for all armored foes and my sword is for all unyielding and maniacs so I can easily slice muties ragers bulwarks and reapers in half as for my skills I use assail mainly to get any gunner trappers and bursters as well as clear hordes to make room for my allies and to deal with hound packs
Ps: Sorry for no punctuation I have the literature aptitude of an ogryn
Sounds to me like you have a solid build, glad this game has opened up so much to have people play what they want and are comfortable with. Obviously everyone has different preferences too, but I love this game now for the variety of playstyles we can all have. It seems that it's only going to get better from here.
@@zenpally i love 40k Warhammer I'm so glad this game came out and got an amazing update to boot
you're using a mod for the com wheel ?
It's just a "for the emperor" shout that's it. They did add a cheer option which does the same thing, I just never took the mod off lol
I lov eindepth explanation, and it would have been even more helpfull if you had shown your skill tree selection :)
I do show my Talent Tree, @ 4:14 on the right side of the screen. Granted it isn't up there long, but I can show it on the main screen if its easier from now on. Let me know :)
Oh and take a look in my description - I also made my build using the build editor. I made 2 separate builds showing off both weapons as well, on that page you can also see my talent tree.
Ah, my bad.@@zenpally Thank you for calling me out on my low attention span :D
You are fine lol just was hard to see in the video tbh, dark backdrop with dark background. But yeah I include all my builds setups in the link in my description for easier access.@@MrNicster
Team orientation on psyker is to play bubble, nothing else.
While I respect that it's not true, I will be making a build around bubble as well but if you are a good enough team you won't need it.
"Bro you need to play the meta bro thats the only way to help the team is to play the meta"
@@ech5517 😂 to be fair I understand the love for the bubble, so no hate on the meta. I personally just find it useless when stopping disablers and other specialists. I'd much rather have more use when it comes to saving someone versus toughness regen.
it is for saving someone... @@zenpally
@@FatSultan protection first of course, but it's a nice way to secure safety in an emergency.
