Difficult to comprehend doing 600 extreme miles day and night in bad weather with only brief rest. Most i ever managed was 160 in a day. Kudos young man, safe travels.
I started cycling last year and your videos inspired me to venture Alpe D'huez. I've done it, only to be one of the slowest ascends on Strava. But I've done it, nevertheless. Col collective is an amazing channel and thank you for being the goat.
Planning my own epic, from south of Thailand to North across the tops of the mountain ranges that run north to south. Mike's epic here helps preparation, confirms human endurance can be strong. I'll be 61 yrs old when I start, will take me 2 weeks or so. Mike's experience here makes me jealous though, what a truly epic journey and ride, well done Mike.
Ah, I am speechless, it is unbelievable really, pure love in cycling! The fitness of this man, mentally and physically is not human. I mean that in a good way of course...just amazing!!!
Wow! I've just stumbled across this video as a beginner cyclist. I've watched it several times, most recently with my 11 year old son. It is utterly incredible, a truly amazing achievement. What an inspiration. Makes me want to do more cycling! Thanks... and well done.
Andrew Williams Thank you Andrew. It makes me feel very happy that you and your son have been able to get something from this ride, that's wonderful. Ride safe and if you need any advice or I can help you in anyway then please feel free to get in touch any time. Peace, Mike
Simply amazing and very inspirational! I can only last three hours on my mountain bike while you just did 50+ hours! You are a huge inspiration and you have my upmost respect! My dream is to one day, be able to MTB around Mount Blanc... I have a long ways to go......
dude. respect. beyond words. but here are a few: I've watched your col collective for years and enjoyed every one of them, had no idea I had missed seeing this hors achievement until I watched it just now. I did a 1/2 everest at age 58 a couple years ago when I was overweight so I have an inkling of what you endured and accomplished. ride on my friend.
So I just biked 2 hrs and my body is fatigued for the day... Dude this guy has like infinite stamina... but I know it's things like the joy of riding and a lot of training and just pure excellent conditioning and cardio... this vid was awesome
i take off my hat for such a achievement. this is really amazing and a proof wath you're body is capable off if you have the right mindset. congrats and my deepest respect
This is something new from Mike. I've seen your tutorials way back when about climbing and descending several years ago and I'm glad to have bump into another video sponsored by Mavic. Great effort Mike, and glad to see you're still on the road!
Wow, that was epic to watch. I really enjoy watching all of the Col Collective vids and I am putting together my bucket list. I'm 54 now, so maybe when I'm 70 I can start crossing off the the Cols!
Thanks for the message LeRoy, if you ever need help or advice on the mountains please get in touch, I'd be only too happy to help if I can. Ride safe. Mike
I've done similar route by car from padua stay overnight at chur and then to chamonix (and I thought that was dificult)as for you my friend god bless you on exploring the physical limits of human keep on cycling!!!
Mububban23 You’re actually right, it’s the mental strength that gets you through something like this. I wanted to reach my goal so badly there was no way I wanted to stop. That’s the true power of mind over matter.
1000km non stop is amazing anywhere, add this terrain in the mix, herculean effort. I'm sure I saw you in Chamonix after you'd done the ride. I've done the Col des Montets and the Col de la Forclaz many times when I lived there, my after work cycle was out of Chamonix, over to the top of the Forclaz and back, or, if I had the legs up to the Lac d'Emosson.
Did you video the ride back as well? Just kidding. Truly an epic ride and experience. You are an inspiration. Thank you so much for doing this and sharing it with us.
Absolutely ... gobsmacking! What a brilliant effort. What a hit list, what an amazing effort. Yes, I am gushing. But it is just so good to see someone commit to an endeavour like this and stick it out. Especially liked the bit of footage at the end of the video where you were reflecting on the effort up the Stelvio after enduring that drenching rain in the valley. Thanks for sharing. I will be visiting a few of those passes next year and will be thinking of your monumental effort as I struggle to complete one or two of them in an day.
Thank you for your appreciation Doug. I'll be honest I really didn't know if I could make that ride. It taught me so much about what the body and mind can endure. One of the hardest and yet most beautiful experiences of my life. Good luck with your own mountain climbing. If you haven't already seen it, take a look at The Col Collective. We've got lots of videos and info to try and help you to the top of the greatest mountains (including my nemesis, the Stelvio!) Rife safe, Mike
My word... this ride is some achievement.... a worthy use of the word epic... A titanic physical and psychological challenge. Massive kudos. I bet Mr Cotty slept after that...lol...!!!

Chapeau Mr. Cotty and the Mavic SAG team. "Epic" is a grossly overused term nowadays but this time it's a fitting description.
