  • Noodle was a beloved part of our family and SBSK team. I really don't know if we would be where we are today as a channel and nonprofit without her. We will always remember her and be forever thankful our paths crossed for a beautiful decade together.

Noodle passed away a few weeks ago in our arms as we told her that we love her. She was such a huge part of our family and SBSK team. Although we are sad now, we are so grateful to have had her in our family for a decade. We will always love her and treasure the time we had together. Alyssa also wanted me to share that a week after Noodle’s passing, she broke her nose in a bicycle accident. It has been a rough month for us, but we are on the rebound now and recovering both emotionally and physically. Thank you so much for loving and supporting our little team and family for the last decade. We’re going to take a week or two off then return. See you soon.

@@abigaile3954 Don't feel bad, I didn't get it until my family went all in on rescues either. Rescues are essentially mutts--but also amazing dogs all the same. No pedigree, no breeding history--just pure love.
Edit: Yes, type is probably the correct term here. English being a language that stretches so far probably doesn't do anyone justice for the meaning of calling a shelter rescue a "rescue breed." People just love their dogs and it's a cute thing to call them, though probably confusing as heck to someone that hasn't seen it before. :)

When Alyssa talked about her mental illness and getting Noodle as a companion, it touched my heart. I have a similar experience with my dog, Sputnik. I've struggled with trichotillomania, anxiety, and depression most of my life. Sputnik has healed many parts of me and has been with me through it all in my twenties. He's turning 11 this year, and the thought of losing him one day tears me up. I feel your pain, Alyssa and Chris.
Rest in peace, Noodle, and heal someone who needs it in heaven.

Bless your hearts. Years ago, I was driving around a nearby town and went past a house that had a hand written sign out front. "Good dogs free". Even though getting a dog was the furthest thing from my mind, I stopped. A guy lead me to the single car garage where the puppies were. Probably 10 mostly black tiny puppies. I decided to take one but didn't know how to pick, so the puppies were brought to one end of the garage, I went to the other end, and called them. One made a bee line straight for me and became my pooch. She fit into my baseball hat. I had her for almost 19 years. She is unforgetable.

Losing a pet that has been with you for years, I think part of the heartache is their innocence. I had a collie and when it came time for him to go I asked the vet to come out to my pick up and give him the shot because he had always been so fearful of the vet, so he was able to pass without any fear. I had a little Yorky female, and when it came time for her to go after a surgery and she was not going to make it. She looked up at me with those beautiful, loving eyes, and we said goodbye. Oh, how I did cry. As I am now.

You guys can be proud of yourselves because you made a street dog so happy all these years, she had a dream life till the very end, many dogs would have loved to find a family like yours. There are so many of them waiting to be adopted in shelters... when you think it's the right time to do it, you'll carry on your life with another dog. It's not about replacing one's animal, it's about continuing one's life with another family member, when they're gone, there's nothing we can do about it, life is part of death. Animals are all unique and are so worth being loved and given another chance. Good luck guys, and may Noodle rest in peace.

💕💕 I’m so glad you found him! I rescued my dog from Hawaii too! when my father was stationed to Oahu in the early 90s. Living on base housing our neighbor had him . He was about a year and half when I took him. They were moving due to orders and where they were going pets were not allowed and she was devastated and didn’t want him re home. They had him already to go to another family, but at the last minute, couple days before she had to leave, they told her they decided they didn’t want him. I was always going by every day visiting and playing with him , feeding him and taking him for walks. When she asked me I was so excited I ran inside asking my parents and they said yes. My father went over to make sure it was legit lol. I had him until he was 13 years old Feb of 2004 I had to make the decision to put him down due to end stage kidney failure. It was the hardest thing in my life I had to do alone and I made sure he was held to the end . I haven’t had a dog since. Wished he was around when I had my son in 2010 as I know he would made my son his buddy and protected him like he did me. I miss him every day. Really wish I could have another one, but apt living is rough , and the adoptions are way more strict now.

We said goodbye to our 13 year old beagle last month. It was incredibly tough. When a dog comes to your home, you sign up for the eventual heartbreak, but you can never really prepare for it. Our home is quieter but still filled with the love that she gave us and brought us together.

We lost our first rescue just about 2 years ago. She was the first dog I ever had and she was the best dog. It was super hard to say goodbye. I didn't want to leave the vet and leave her there when she crossed the rainbow bridge. The empty house and no dog coming to the door to greet us when we got home was hard. We thought we wouldn't get another rescue anytime soon, but we were wrong. Less than a week later, we rescued another dog. There has been a lot of ups and downs but our new dog filled a void that our previous one left. She'll never be out first dog, but she still is our dog. ❤️🐾🐕

I got my first dog when I was six, and she lived 18 wonderful years. After that I rescued a kitten that ended up reaching the age of 25 and she was wonderful too. I've had several pets that lived really long lives and it's amazing how much they become a part of you, and that when they go such a big part of myself dies with it. But every time I've lost a pet and swear I won't get another one God has sent another to me that needs rescued, or just needs a lot of love. i'm sorry for your loss, and I love the amazing work that you both do. God bless you both

I had a really lovely friend who passed away a couple years ago. She had a cat shelter and rescued kitties, fed colonies of feral kitties every night. I loved helping her but I was heart broken every time we rescued a sick one who wouldn't make it. My friend, MARY, was so lovely and would just keep going. I asked her how she could take losing them at times. She said to me that she was able to stay strong and persevere because there were always more cats that needed us. When you are able, save another fur baby. They all deserve. You always have certain special ones, but there are alot of homeless fur babies out there that need us. 😢

Well we had a rescue cat . She has needed constant cuddles from me. She is now nineteen years old and falls over when she washes herself. Very wobbly but a very happy little cat called Shobel 🥰♥️
