My pet turtle, Myrtle, passed away this year. He was around 20 years old. It was weird that some people were like at least it wasn’t a dog or a cat. drew, I am writing this as someone who has experienced severe OCD in my past, starting from my childhood. OCD so severe that I struggled with even speaking about it because it would get in the way. Haha. Giving into your compulsive urges will only make it worse. I know you already know that, so I urge you to try your best against them. I've found that the opposite can also be true: fighting your OCD by randomly doing the opposite of what it wants can lead to more obsession. The best way to handle it, I've found, is by simply acknowledging it(which you'll subconsciously do) and not doing anything more. Don't even try to make yourself think about something else; freedom is what this is all about. You got this.

real question from a nonparent. why don't parents who are kept up by the baby not sleeping not just wear earplugs? it's not like you're going to distinguish between a serious event happening cry and a random baby cry right unless yr watching them on the monitor, so it's not a sense yr losing a lot of info from, and if you weren't "allowed" to not be intaking info anyway how could you ever sleep?

@@SpecialBlanket well the reason i would say is that it’s very bad for children’s development to ignore them. it can cause issues with behavior, self esteem, communication, among other things so it’s not a good idea. it helps brain development to receive a response from their parent(s) whenever they need it, so many parents including myself share a room with baby for the first year or so. also many babies need to eat a few times throughout the night, especially in the beginning. since i am breastfeeding that means that is always my job to make sure my baby is fed. he is growing rapidly and needs to eat often. exhaustion is unfortunately just usually part of being a good parent in the beginning, but sleep habits vary baby to baby and many people get lucky with babies who sleep more at a time or more easily. the important thing is perspective: this is a relatively very short time in my life and while it is hard, i am going through it because i know it’s what’s best for my baby whom i love very much! i always want to be there for him when he needs me, even when it’s hard. hope this explains it!
I LOVE watching Drew's videos so much. Like it satisfies my brain. I'm able to fully focus, and just listen to what feels like a friend just talk about their thoughts and their life. And I'll like agree in my head. It feels like an actual conversation. I literally talk about how much I love Drew to my friends after every single video I watch. I feel like these videos progress into like our minds syncing. Like it always ends up past the 30 min mark me thinking something and you end up repeating and saying something similar along the lines a couple seconds or mins later. It’s wild, and I love it

I know Drew's covered Sister Golden Hair by America so I assume he's a fan so I want to tell him about the concert I went to last month since none of my friends care about this band from the 70s They were great to see! For some reason I keep thinking they're in their 80s but they're in their 70s and they still put on a great performance. They played some of their later songs but I also got to hear some of my fav songs like Daisy Jane, Don't Cross the River, and Riverside. Another one of my favs is Lonely People which was written by the third founding member, Dan Peek, and they had a whole video playing on the screen on the back of the stage. There was a montage of old videos and pictures of him, before the harmonica solo Dewey said, "Hit it Gerry!" Then after the solo Dewey said, "Sing it Dan!" And they had a video of Dan singing the final verse as they sang along with him. It really touched me that they still play the songs that Dan wrote, these guys have been friends and performing together since they were in high school and they're still performing together even after one of their friends has passed. They have such strong bonds that I wish I had with my own friends, they are the definition of "friends till the end"

real question from a nonparent. why don't parents who are kept up by the baby not sleeping not just wear earplugs? it's not like you're going to distinguish between a serious event happening cry and a random baby cry right unless yr watching them on the monitor, so it's not a sense yr losing a lot of info from, and if you weren't "allowed" to not be intaking info anyway how could you ever sleep?

@@SpecialBlanket well the reason i would say is that it’s very bad for children’s development to ignore them. it can cause issues with behavior, self esteem, communication, among other things so it’s not a good idea. it helps brain development to receive a response from their parent(s) whenever they need it, so many parents including myself share a room with baby for the first year or so. also many babies need to eat a few times throughout the night, especially in the beginning. since i am breastfeeding that means that is always my job to make sure my baby is fed. he is growing rapidly and needs to eat often. exhaustion is unfortunately just usually part of being a good parent in the beginning, but sleep habits vary baby to baby and many people get lucky with babies who sleep more at a time or more easily. the important thing is perspective: this is a relatively very short time in my life and while it is hard, i am going through it because i know it’s what’s best for my baby whom i love very much! i always want to be there for him when he needs me, even when it’s hard. hope this explains it!

I LOVE watching Drew's videos so much. Like it satisfies my brain. I'm able to fully focus, and just listen to what feels like a friend just talk about their thoughts and their life. And I'll like agree in my head. It feels like an actual conversation. I literally talk about how much I love Drew to my friends after every single video I watch. I just feel like I actually gain something from his videos. Like another perspective on life. He's so insightful and real and I love that. Such a genuine and good person.

I wasn’t going to do the math equation because I feel like I heard it before but then I thought about how someone would feel if they did that to me; so I did the equation and I was very shook that you would pick my brain apart like that without my consent. It’s awesome though. I think your videos are awesome. You are a niche Internet personality that I do think about often and think we have a shot at being friends but in another universe maybe.

I know Drew's covered Sister Golden Hair by America so I assume he's a fan so I want to tell him about the concert I went to last month since none of my friends care about this band from the 70s
They were great to see! For some reason I keep thinking they're in their 80s but they're in their 70s and they still put on a great performance. They played some of their later songs but I also got to hear some of my fav songs like Daisy Jane, Don't Cross the River, and Riverside. Another one of my favs is Lonely People which was written by the third founding member, Dan Peek, and they had a whole video playing on the screen on the back of the stage. There was a montage of old videos and pictures of him, before the harmonica solo Dewey said, "Hit it Gerry!" Then after the solo Dewey said, "Sing it Dan!" And they had a video of Dan singing the final verse as they sang along with him. It really touched me that they still play the songs that Dan wrote, these guys have been friends and performing together since they were in high school and they're still performing together even after one of their friends has passed. They have such strong bonds that I wish I had with my own friends, they are the definition of "friends till the end"
