What's wrong with straight pipe? Just curious cause I want to start off doing an axle back exhaust just for a good sound and later when I pay off my car I'll get a real exhaust
@@unanimoustc9428 it just sounds bad and really loud just wait for a proper exhaust it’ll be worth the wait !!
@@unanimoustc9428 just don’t do a full straight pipe, muffler only
@@unanimoustc9428 As long as you keep the resonators you're good.
@@unanimoustc9428 I've bought one with a straight pipe and it sounds super ratty. You can change the exhaust for sure but be careful about straight piping it. I want to keep it just change the raspiness

Could start an orchestra meet with different VQ setups lol 😆 📢
🎺📯🎺📯🎺📯🎺..........😱📣
For real #trumpetgang
the thing with g35 owners nowadays is that they put the most garbage sounding exhaust on thier VQ's and think thier racecars😂, but this is pretty neat
You’re not wrong haha, most of them just go full straight pipe and it sounds like hot garbage 🌚 making the tone smooth is key
theryir
Headers weren’t as bad as I thought they would be honestly. I got gifted a set of Megan Racing headers for Christmas so I ran with them. Wrapped them, installed them with matching test pipes. If you do get headers try to look for ones that have a slant at the collector flange. The only issue that I had with the Megans was that they were straight at the collector, so we had to heat it with a torch and beat a sort of divet into it so it wouldn’t rub or obstruct the steering shaft on the driver’s side.
We ended up building a custom H pipe set up from the test pipes back, and ran it into SLP Loudmouths off a Mustang, into 2.5”-3.5” Megan tips. It doesn’t sound bad but I busted a hole in the cross pipe near the tips, and I kind of want it to look more uniform when I go full poser Pandem with the duraflex widebody knockoff 😂
Do you think one of the cheap Rev9 catbacks would sound passable with the headers and test pipes? It has to sound better than the exhaust leak lol
I love this video. Totally agree. But for some reason I just like your demeanor. Subbed.
Appreciate the support bro glad you enjoyed ✊
I agree with keeping the headers stock
Yessirrr I got a 370z with art pipes, high flow resonated muffler delete, and the shockwave. Fucking insane the quality of the sound the vq makes with motordyne is amazing.
Thanks for the vid bro! Finally gonna start working on my g35 and this vid provided great info on this topic, again thanks bro! New sub!
Glad I could help, thanks for the support ✊🔥
Lol this was so helpful. I recently bought a g37 n they guy how sold me the car, cut the pipes by the middle n it’s superrrr loud 😭
Glad I could help bro 😎
Dude the crossed out trumpet on the thumbnail is HILARIOUS
Disregard that last comment I had put. I got excited cause I opened up RUclips and saw your video and for some reason got mixed up between getting notifications and comments. But great content bro. With these cars it's always scary when it comes to doing modifications on the exhaust.
Appreciate it bro, yea I’ve heard a shit ton of tin can sounding VQs and it gives them a bad rep, not all of them sound bad haha
@@DGWhipZ luckly the G that I bought has had some modifications but sounds good. Idk what they did to it maybe a glass pipe.
U want dope sound for cheap. Read this.. gut your stock cats. Extend 02 sensors with spark plug adapters (6$). Then replace your stock resonator with a cherry bomb resonator ( 45-70$) then find a used nismo cat back muffler… it sounds INCREDIBLE (300-700$ total cost)
Wow bro I have to give you an A+ for this session you hit every topic and answered all the questions and more that I had on making my G35 sound great 👍🏾 so yea good work great info Brooklyn ny vq family
Glad I could help! I thought this video would be helpful to a lot a lot of vq owners want to sound good but it’s real easy to sound like shit lol
Helpful information!
I’m running Z1 test pipes cherry bomb resonators and a muffler delete and my shit sounds fire.
Post cold/warm starts, revs, and drive bys
This was honestly the most helpful g35 exhaust video and it should have gotten more attention ;-; i still have my stock exhaust and it doesn’t sound too bad:D
stock exhaust sounds so good man!
Very comprehensive video. Subbed
Appreciate it bro 😎
hey man sweet video!! what tint did you get brutha????
Appreciate it bro, not sure honestly I bought the car like that, it’s a perfect tint for me because it’s hard to see in the car at night from outside but my vision doesn’t feel impaired from dark tint
I love the trumpet 🎺 sound
I did only resonator delete and it sounds good at low rpms stock at mid and pretty loud but not super raspy at high rpms. Im waiting to be able to buy the z1 lol
Res delete as your only mod? I was thinking of doing it to my G
We call g35s chicken hawks
..spread the word...g35 gang gang
I have a g35 coupe as my daily and im getting the motordyne shockwave for it. On top of that i have been considering their art pipes. I was wondering if anyone knows if the art pipes would be too much for a daily in which case i should stick to the cats.
Great video btw!
Great video
Been considering modding my G35, I might look into getting some of these :D
I definitely recommend art pipes bruh, best performance mod by far 👌
@@DGWhipZ heck yeah! Still debating on whether to mod my G, I'm considering keeping my G stock as a daily driver and instead doing a completely fresh car project when I have the money ;)
I have a vq35 aswell Altima. I’ve had it for about a year now. Great car! Fast, pulls hard. I love it. Currently SER conversion
They’re pretty good sleepers 😤
The title is lying, they sound good regardless.
Dude, the exhaust on the vq35 is peak. They are just as good as headers. No gain really, only pulse width modulation and some scavenging benefits but they are negligible.
From what I’ve heard just like with almost any mod on the g you get most of your gains with mods once you tune it, slapping headers on doesn’t do much but a good tuner can make the most of it
I’ve got full ISR headers and exhaust system coming tm
Motordyne art pipes motordyne shockwave exhaust don’t forget tune
You must like tickets
@@hamtonwoods4383 I live in Florida boss man cops don’t care unless you drive like a d!ck :)
After your muffler delete you went straight pipe from the resonator? I currently have a Z1 motorsports muffler and resonator. Been thinking about doing straight pipe from the resonator back.
Ive had my G35x for a year now just sitting not wanting to put money into it,so in the last 6 months i bought new coil packs and get the misfire fixed....then quickly came the throttle body, and exhaust, and coilovers, then the head lights, wheels, bout to do a whole ass repaint on it because i hate the grey. Thinking about a pearl white. Quarantine got me spending too much money.
I’m protected from being called a ricer already I have an 02 v6 mustang that sounds and performs like a v8 so I want my g35 to sound extra trumpetty
No you don't lol
I’m rocking a z1 cat back with a resonated mid pipe and z1 high flow cats and it’s really loud but sounds great on my 2008 350z
I’ve got just a muffler delete on my g35x and it’s honestly a nice sound
You mean “Is that a Tomei dahh!?” (FreshhKiicks catchphrase)
so your car is pretty much straight piped with magna flow resonators ?
Not the trumpetbone 😭
What's the part number to the magnaflow
Exactly lol
G35 are supposed to sound kinda loud but nice and clean not loud asf
Hey man great video I got a G35 myself and you're right about those E1 company I ordered a spacer I think it was like the $200 one the medium one just curious if you have a cold air intake on yours you prefer the cone or the square I am the square and I have the $50 of kna I believe it's called I used to order off of Amazon and all that book has cheap stuff I've come to realize and when I just bought my 35 G I made myself decide to start buying from the real companies I think I'm going to go to the medium for the exhaust I want to keep my tips
I have a short ram intake and honestly I wish I did cold air because my intake temperatures are hella high lol, z1 makes good products, best of luck with the exhaust bro 👍
@@DGWhipZ just put oem intake back on bro
@@killakam123321 I’m boosted now lmao
The only way that they will sound good is if someone custom makes a crazy 6 to 1 header for it. Its just how they sound, same with vr6 volkswagen v6, but that sounds better still.
Thanks bro now im planning on going catless arc pipe dual exit was planning on 2in out but now thinking 2.5in with resonators as im going to be supercharging this after some other work
2.5 inch is pretty good, if you’re going boost 3 inch might actually be better tho, sounds like an exciting build man 👍
@@DGWhipZ if i go twin turbos would the turbos quiet down the exhaust on both vq's as it would be an extra restriction. Also wouldnt 3in running true dual make it a little to much loss of back pressure .i always thought to think of true duals as one tube by adding them together in general might br differant car to car.
@@stevenhenson4956 yes the turbos would quiet some of the exhaust a tad bit and change the note somewhat, the 3 in would be a lot for an NA build but if your pushing some power then it would actually benefit and you’ll need the extra diameter in exhaust to help the engine fully breathe better since you have a lot more power and exhaust coming out your engine than factory
@@DGWhipZ got it thank you for the help im comingfrom a 2jz so i was basing it off that but that may also be cause its inline 🤷♂️anyways thank you for the help
@@DGWhipZ okay so i got the car its the 37vhr you think the test motordyne test pipes to 2.5 inch true dual resonated straight pipes would work im aiming for 400 hp na atm
What you said about the motordyne shockwave is so true it’s not justified until you hear it in person . I would’ve never paid $1200 for it but I ran into a 350z on the highway that had that setup and my god it screams
2k nowadays
@@Thee_Lijah on me everything went up

bro i need help!!! i just want a setup that's not so loud.. nothing obnoxious just a nice lil sound.. andy recommendations? watched the whole video still don't know what to run
If money isn’t too much of an issue if I were you I’d run motordyne art pipes, a resonator of choice, and then a good quality muffler as well such or borla hks etc. should have a really nice tone and won’t be too loud 👍
@@DGWhipZ ok i see, i dont wanna spend that much money, at the very most around 600-800 if i really had to but not now, would u say for ight now the best thing would be a muffler delete? or what would u say could be a cheaper alternative for now, i guess the least loudest delete or something
@@1rvnge honestly the best bang for buck and just a little noise and not to much, is a muffler delete it’s about $100 look up some clips and see what you think
Headers are worth it with a complete exhaust setup. Until then yes no point
I love my resonator delete and straight pipe lmao way to fix the cabin noise is turn up the 2 12s loud as possible 😂
Which Infiniti do you have?
I have an '18 q50 & thinking of doing the same thing you did
I’ve been debating if I should just do a muffler delete but idk if I should?
I have the motordyne tdx with the new motordyne resonated muffler delete. I posted some videos on my page, but still need to upload better sound videos for how excessively loud it is. Definitely check it out
Nothing beats a motordyne 👌
Would the Z1 single exit fit a 2005 g35 sedan?
Yes you just need an extension
Idk if your gonna read this but does your front bumper have like a name or style or something because all the oem bumpers are different at the openings at the bottom and I really want your style bumper. Lmk if you know or if you can find anything please
Yea a few of them have a few different styles, some of them are called sport style and stuff, if you want my particular bumper just get an OEM 2006 G35 Coupe bumper, some years have different styles. Hope that helped ✊
Your headlights are not it g u gotta restore them
I know, I plan on buying spec Ds so I just haven’t been too worried about it
Even length headers, I personally dislike the warble coming from stock headers. For down stream, the stock system is pretty good - muffler delete if you want it louder.
I put a stillen exhaust with y pipes on my 05 G35 really nice
Stillen is a solid choice too 👍
Yea fuck that I'm not paying $1500 for no damn exhaust, that more then what I paid for my whip
Tell me about it 🤣 I have a 03 g35 6 speed tomei headers, tomei test pipes, tomei y pipe and tomei cat back exhaust “STUPID LOUD”
Keep the cats and you won't fail at sound. Don't use fat piping and you will sound good. Test pipes or fat exhaust pipes ruin the sound. I run exhaust cut out before one resonator and it's loud as fuck and sounds good and pops and at the push of a button it's back to stock.
I have a muffler delete on mine it sounds amazing
i’m thinking about straight piping mine. should i remove the resonator and cats?
I have a set of beluga resonated axle-backs on my 370Z Nismo, completely stock exhaust otherwise (resonated true dual already bc it's a Nismo) and it sounds amazing. I would love to do headers eventually but I don't want to lose that smooth VQ exhaust note! Shame nobody makes a performance version of the stock unequal-length headers, equal-length shorties and long tubes completely change the sound of the engine note unfortunately.
@@pizzastixx7249 No! Lol. If you do that you will get tons of rasp all the time and hiss on deceleration. Leave the resonators in place or get bigger diameter, higher flowing ones if that's what you're going for. You definitely want at least one set of resonators (if you're dual, or at least one if you're single-exit) on any VQ exhaust setup.
how many times have you got pulled over bc i want a get a straight pipe or a muffler delete but i dont have my license lol
@@pizzastixx7249 I have a resonator and muffler delete sounds awsome don’t remove the cats
I have invidia test pipes on my g37 with a muffler delete but still have my res and it doesn’t sound like a trumpet
So i was thinking to replace my resonator with test pipes would you recommend that?
What ?😂
would you recommend getting a muffler delete and berk resonated test pipes? i want it to shoot flames and sound nice. (i know i’ll get hate but idc about performance and “gains”)
It would sound sick if you kept your resonators, if you got rid of those it would sound pretty raspy lol or even just get a performance muffler instead for a not too loud and smooth tone 👍 nothing wrong with wanting to shoot flames haha, just remember time and a place for that you’ll start frying your 02 sensors among another things if you do it like everyday lol
@@DGWhipZ gotchu gotchu, ty bro
@@1000delights Did you do it how’s it sound?
Straight pipers f these cars up. Not sure if they are just super cheap or trying to follow a trend without thinking.
Trumpet = cool
I have berk res test pipes and a muffler delete I wanna make it a little louder I wanna cut the res off and install a lcgp performance res on what do you think will it be too raspy, I have minimal rasp rn.
If you replace the oem resonators with some decent quality ones rasp should be minimal, nothing will have zero rasp unless you have full motordyne but the resonators really help with the raspiness
Do you have the link for the exact magnaflow resonator you got bro
I don’t as I bought them directly from the exhaust shop, however I’m selling mines for hella cheap though if you’re interested you can dm me on insta: @dgwhip
On a budget just get a ISR catback
I had a g35 2007 sedan I added cold air intakes to start off I’m thinking muffler delete or just getting a Top Speed Pro 1 Exhaust Y-Pipe back? What you recommend new to this but have always been interested in g35’s / 37’s
Haven’t actually heard too much of top speed so can’t say too much on that, however muffler delete is a good budget option, going full custom is a good way I recommend too as well, just have some form of resonator in your system and it should be good 👍
@@DGWhipZ any recommendations for a custom system??
Mf said it’s the best exhaust bc I watch RUclips videos on it 😂😂😂😂
You had any problems with a muffler delete in Nevada?
Nope, no problems with any loud exhaust here, there’s no laws and cops don’t pay any attention to loud cars as long as they got plates lmao
@@DGWhipZ Damn bet, I'm from Cali originally so that's a relief lmao
Want the best sounding exaust for the absolutely cheapest price? actually for free. Just put a hole on your stock pipe and it will sound the best I guaratee it 😁
i got kinetic hi flow/ isr y pipe and megan racing single i feel super loud right now .may go isr single because its super drony under 3k
I’d see about adding a resonator to quiet it down and smooth the tone, manga flow borla and flow master are all good options, I like magnaflow personally
I went with muf delete, coupe y pipe, coupe resonators for my 04 sedan. Should I add art or test pipes???
No doubt if you have the money get art pipes you won’t regret it probably the best mod I have on my car tbh 👍🔥
@@DGWhipZ thanks. you still think so now?
I’m new at this, I brought my Infiniti G35 sedan 3 months ago N taking care of it like if it was my proud N joy. But what does VQ mean?
Vq is the name of the engine. If you have a g35 you have a vq35 or if you have a G37 you have a vq37
VQ means very quick, which means it revs high
im running open headers rn haha
I have a 2015 QX50 stock with a muffler delete, any tips if I wanted get tuned what are some first mods to get done ?
I would get as many bolt ons as you can first that you plan on getting, a full exhaust is always a good option along with intakes, throttle bodies etc once your happy with the mods you have then go get tuned so you don’t have to return everytime you add something
@@DGWhipZ when you say bolt on what you mean I don’t mean to sound like a noob I’m just scraping info from others also and putting it down as I try and find forums also on what direction I want to take

i just did berk test pipes and muffler delete. still have my stock resonator. it sounds pretty good but i want it a bit deeper what should i do.
If you could I would swap out the berk for motordyne art pipes, youll have a smooth deep tone and will minimize rasp and high pitches for sure, expensive but worth every penny plus you get more gains too
