The thing with Guthrie is...he's not only an incredible guitarist, he's also very intelligent, articulate, polite, humble and actually quite funny too. In my opinion, no one can touch him today.
i never mentioned a word about competition. i know what guthrie once said about music and that it is not a competition! for me, in my personal "wich guitarist i adore the most" scale, he´s number one ever sincew i stumbled across his music by pure coincidence, by the way! after say 5 bars of playing he had me and my interest grew over the years! i did watch his entire career for i really really love his music and him as a person did not change with the fame that came along naturally! he is the most humble, lovely person in the music industrie i ever met! So Phyton Ruß, i hope you see by now what i meant in my first comment! it´s a personal thing! from all guitarists out there, i like him the most and honestly, i do not think this ever changes.
Python Ruß i know that he said that an fully agree but he is my absolute hero because of what and bow he does what hes doing and that aint got a thing to do with thinkin that theres a competition, dear phyton ruß. His creativity is just so incredible, he makes his music talk, communicate with my wjole being in all of its aspects, almost instantly and all of this at once. I hope you ve got it this zime cause i am tyring out at this topic. Everything already being said, hope this time i got my point across.
Guthrie and Marco get a lot of attention for their inhuman talent, and rightly so, but Bryan is such a beast on the bass over there. He copies Guthrie's lines at times and plays them back note for note. What an ear!
I kinda assume everyone they put on stage next to literal legends have good to be at the very least , really good themselves. But I knew this guy was a great player the second I looked at him , you can tell by the hair sometimes.
0:16 Bad Asteroid 8:40 Get it Like That 18:51 Flatlands 27:53 See You Next Tuesday 33:48 Furitive Jack 42:37 Blues Fuckers (47:36 drum solo) 55:33 Erotic Cakes
The Aristocrats are no joke, Bryan the bass player and the drummer has killer groove, Govan gets so much sounds from his guitar. Marco speaks German thats awesome.
Who needs a Rhythm Guitarist or a Keyboardist if these "Three" are like Subatomic Particles(Neutron,Proton, and Electron)that regardless of what they do individually, they are locked up so tight that the Music to the ear is never thin nor awkward.Perfect chemistry, dynamics, and superb talents indeed...
Guthrie himself said something like he would prefer to have a rhythm guitarist (and they sometimes play with one) because he likes to have more of the chords. I can't remember from what video/interview this was.
These guys amaze me, the playing, the arrangements,I don't know how they do it. Each one is supreme at what they do, together they're as good as it gets. I don't really go in for the best guitarist in the world thing, but Guthrie might just be that person. He's way too humble to accept that accolade of course.
This is where Marco belongs. He can be himself, and Marco being "himself" is awesome. I love how interconnected they as a band on stage and how they are genuinely happy they are to be playing together.
Guthrie Govan, and crew, have crafted some of the most well received, innovative and technically proficient music in the 'rock/fusion' genre in years, touring the world, recording and releasing multiple albums, all to great reception... and the guy still only has three t-shirts. He's one of a kind :D
Their entire world tour will not earn as much as a single Adele or Justin Beiber show in gate receipts ... Sad state of the world 😔 . But then smaller set of real fans can more closely appreciate real music
Marco looks so happy when he plays because he's 100% in his element, doing something that is so easy and natural to him, that he can just smile and have fun. I smile like this when I'm eating a bowl of ice cream. I don't smile like that when I play guitar.
I understand the director and/or cameramen focusing on Guthrie & Marko, but giving virtually no airtime to Bryan Beller's amazing performance is a serious mistake.
@@Jamaramlolz No argument there. If this were solely a live-to-air performance, knowing which musician to key in on would be hugely challenging - and I recently watched a live-streaming choral concert under COVID restrictions which was really unfortunate in how often they panned to a singer who wasn’t or from a singer just as he/she started to sing. This, however, is a videoed event with multiple cameras for each of the three, and someone would have edited it into the product we view here on RUclips. For full disclosure, I’m a bassist, and I recognize that audiences tend to focus on the kinetics of the drummer or the flash of the guitarist. However, The Aristocrats is truly an equal partnership in terms of writing & instrument mastery, so I was merely making a pitch for the poor shlubs who hold the bottom of the groove together. 😉
Not very often do some of the great musicians of a generation find an outlet for creativity like these 3 guys did with each other. This is genuinely one of the best live performances of all time. Just an amazingly good band!
If you have ever wondered where insanity meets genius this could well be it. But it must be rare for three examples to gel so perfectly. We are so lucky to have them.
Setlist : 1 - Bad Asteroid 2 - Get it like that 3 - Flatlands 4 - See you next tuesdey 5 - Furtive jacks 6 - Blues Fuckers 7 - Erotic cakes (Guthrie Govan song)
Saw these guys in Vancouver some months ago and as brilliant as Guthrie and Brian Beller on bass truly are it's Marco Minnemman who really stole the show for me that night. He is a stunner.
These guys should be considered the Rush of the 21st century, three of the most talented folks in one band? like wtf, that shouldn't happen, but it did.
it took me awhile to realize that the bass player(BRYAN BELLER)was the guy from steve vais band!!!!!check him out on steves WILD THINGS video these 3 musicians are so inspirational, its mind blowing...........
Joseph Bruno he also played in Joe Satriani's band. He has also been in the Death Metal bands Galacton and Dethklok. Funny thing, the drummer is also from extreme metal bands Necrophagst an Kreator.
They are the proof that you can actually become "too good" a musician. There's no challenge left for them. So you start making fun of yourself and of everything else. Great guys.
I just heard of this guy Guthrie tonight, and I hear a hint of Jeff Beck in the group itself. I know nothing of these guys, but Guthrie is smooth. I was at a site that had an ongoing "fight" that Buckethead is better than so and so, then Guthrie Govan came up as one of the best. He has a hint of Stevie Vai also to me. To me, many of these great musicians are like a box of Oreo's, they are each great, can't choose just one.
The who's better argument usually comes down to style and your tastes. But I think it's pretty hard to argue that anyone is better than Govan, whether you like this style of music or not.
Lol! Good one mate! Except I prefer Neil I the drums, that guy puts a damn serious face and kick the shit of that drum kit with do much precision is scary. Guthrie is on another level!
no idea why guthrie disparages erotic cakes, it's an awesome composition. love when they include it in the live recordings. it's always different and they always do something interesting with it... despite the phone and chicken solos (well, pigs). and the break back into the song after the nonsense is always killer.
@@LimewaterMusic It is, he has chorus (flanger, some form of modulation whatever you wanna call it in the chain) and reverb that make the guitar sound super spacey
Obviously, Guthrie is super impressive. I find that his compositions didn't really shine until their fourth album. I'd argue that it's usually Beller who outputs the best material, followed very closely by Minneman. Love this wonderful trio.
The thing with Guthrie is...he's not only an incredible guitarist, he's also very intelligent, articulate, polite, humble and actually quite funny too. In my opinion, no one can touch him today.
you are right! he is out there and far out of reach for anybody else! he is a god on the guitar and also a lovely person, a person to adore.
Maybe for a change, you should try to actually LISTEN what Govan is saying
He's argued countless times that musicianship is not a damn competition.
i never mentioned a word about competition. i know what guthrie once said about music and that it is not a competition! for me, in my personal "wich guitarist i adore the most" scale, he´s number one ever sincew i stumbled across his music by pure coincidence, by the way! after say 5 bars of playing he had me and my interest grew over the years! i did watch his entire career for i really really love his music and him as a person did not change with the fame that came along naturally! he is the most humble, lovely person in the music industrie i ever met! That's a really great way of putting them
Band is greater than the sum of its parts
Guthrie himself said something like he would prefer to have a rhythm guitarist (and they sometimes play with one) because he likes to have more of the chords. I can't remember from what video/interview this was.
Thats may be the best 3 man Fusion Band ever . Its music for mucicians . All are playing on highest Niveau you can do . Unbelieveable 💯🎸🎸

Il n'y pas de mots. Des musiciens d'exception.
Wow! The drummer smiles alot because this music gives him the opportunity to really shine.
No words. These guys have music into their bones. I see Zappa's best moments here...
It's all the anarchy of Zappa and all the rigour of Zappa composed pieces BUT all at once and improvised.
Holy shit the drummer is fucking insane.
+Phoebus I think he's also in a tech-death band called Necrophagist (at least used to) but yeah he's incredible
+Moe Shor He actually is.Anyway for me Dream theater didn't deserved Marco:)
Marco Minneman
Dream Theater guys just lost their opportunity with Marco. He's amazing!

his pedalboard is a tea tray..
this band should tour the world and be compensated greatly for it !!!!!
Their entire world tour will not earn as much as a single Adele or Justin Beiber show in gate receipts ... Sad state of the world 😔 .

They're the greatest living band. Every performance I've seen of them online has been an unbelievably jawdropping experience
I think the root of the problem is that there is all too much going on in this video
@@Jamaramlolz No argument there. Seriously ridicule to sensor one third of the band. Big turn off. Did not finish it because of that
Not very often do some of the great musicians of a generation find an outlet for creativity like these 3 guys did with each other.

I am blown away by the sound and the swing and the.....aargh.....the....skill and the hair
James Gower most importantly the hair!!

Nice!!! Didn't know Beller has played with Vai!
It is him indeed, but short haired! :D
music this good should be outlawed! Can I say awesome talent on display here!
There is no better trio🤌
Smiles for all Marco... Que belleza para los sentidos..
I love these guys. The best musicians on the planet.
I like the fact that it actually looks like that they're playing together and watching eachother. Just another normal rehearsal :D
That drum solo bit Marco played at the end was amazing. It was like Virgil Donati & Bobby Jarzombek on steroids. Thanks guys. This was a great show!
Amazing the Shawn Lane influence you hear in Guthrie's Jazz playing.
there is good, there is better and best. These guys are superb.
WOW THIS IS SOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN THE FIRST VID I CAUGHT OF THESE GUYS
JUST KILLER
Three piece band with this much talent just makes sense… I have to check them out more good stuff!
Excellent band, hope they'll be playing in my area sometime soon!

What an interesting thought! Had not occurred to me in that way.
not true...music is an endless mystery....you never stop discovering, and finding new ways of expression
Magnifica música y solo tres artistas geniales. Un batería y dos solistas de guitarra sensacionales.

Cool Guthrie's in a fear n loathing shirt (Ralph Steadman) & Marco in a 'smiles for all' :). Great music!!

guthrie's guitar seems to have some weird chorus effect on it the whole time, which is a bit of a pity :(
Separate mic picking up the sound or someone put the mic wayyy too far from the amp lmao that’s a sound issue not his tone
A slapback delay that sound awful with distortion, but gold with clean sound... liked 3rd song. Overall good band very creative
