  • Hey guys! Heres a boring comparison between the Fujifilm 55-200 and the 50-140mm lol. Sage to say both of these lenses are amazing, but if you need that better build quality and extra stops of light.. the 50-140 is a must.

    The 55-200 is one my favorite Fuji lenses. I think it has the best price to performance of any XF lens. The only time where I've feel like the budget option is TRULY satisfactory.

    Look at the price brother alot of variation I think 55-200 is alot better

    got rid of 55-200 No weather sealing and has extendable zoom. The 50-140 are all internal and keeps dust out and rain, I use mine for outdoor and out back events from Alice Springs to Halls Creek . Thanks for your content..

    Maaaate, those portraits are incredible! Also what a location to shoot in, a lot different to the quaint English countryside that I'm from. Bucket list location for sure. Keep up the good work

    You summed it up....just like 18-55 vs 16-55 the little things matter. I’ve never gotten an unusable shot with the 16-55 even in direct sun, usually get dreamy bokeh too.. 18-55 is awesome but little details like you said. I want this one for portraits.

      @@cammackey I'm impressed that you are using zooms for pro work. I was going to wait for the X-H2. But the X-H1 with the battery grip and extra batteries currently retails for $1299, that was too good of a deal to pass up. (And there has been no official announcement on the X-H2.) But I am waiting for the 16-80 f4, which should be released this fall.

      Best lenses for portraits are the 56mm f1.2 and the 90mm f2. Either lens gives far superior portrait results and bokeh than the 50-140, with the edge going to the 56mm 1.2, imo. There are videos comparing them with sample images, just search it up.

    Nice review and shots. How is the 55-200mm in terms of af speed and acuracy in indoor situations where light is not so good?

    Thanks! I always enjoy your angle on things, and your shots.
    I thought about the XF50-140mm, but decided to go for the XF90mmF/2 instead. There are quite a few adaptors for Fuji now, though I haven't used them, but you may wish to experiment with the Sigma ART 50-100mmF/1.8, which is apparently the sharpest APS-C zoom, and obviously very bright and creamy. Though it weighs over 3lb!

    • @fellowcitizen
      @fellowcitizen 4 года назад

      Hi @@wooshka7731:) I've not used the ART50-100mm on Fuji, though I understand that Steelsring and Kipon have quite efficient adaptors by now (I've only adapted manual M lenses to Fuji). I'd suggest using it with the X-H series since it has the reinforced mount :)

    I sold the 50-140 because of how loosely it attached to the body. I know all lenses can twist a bit once locked but this was enough to throw off my stitching for panos etc? I'm talking a few degrees if tilt. It happened on my Xt2 and Xt3 and no other lens does this. How does it "grip" the body once attached? I replaced it with the 55-200 and I miss everything about it. I've seen a lot of comparisons and I would be one to disagree with those saying they're equal in the center. I miss the lens alot.

    2:35 is that taken at 200m? Because that background is divine if it's 4.8. Way to make me wrestle with my conscience over which lens to decide over. Every kit needs a telescopic.

      I wanna spend some more time with it first! I wouldn't mind the 90mm but I like my compression! Would be awesome if fuji would make like a smaller 150mm F2, compared to their giant 200mm

    Great video thank you for sharing I have the Fuji XT3 as well and have been considering getting a zoom lens but I recently seen one of Canons new lenses which is the 28 to 70 mm f2 RF lens from what I see is sharp all around in every focal length and I love the look of it overall wish it was compatible. also I am new to Capture One And took some shots over the weekend with the Mitakon 50 mm on my Fuji and I took a shot in the daylight and it seems that I had to much light on the face of my subject I have tried to bring it down in the software but I am unable to any tips? Sorry for the long comment. Keep up the great work “cam the man”

    • @cammackey
      @cammackey  5 лет назад

      DJ Anamaly there’s adapters you can get for canon lenses! I wish fuji would make some f1.8 zoom lenses like sigma has! And for capture one, you should be able to recover a lot of light. But if you over exposed it too much than there’s not much you can do sadly, no matter the camera or software.

    It is not fair to compare between constant f2.8 lens to a variable aperture lens in such dark indoor shot without flash

    • @AJ-em2rb
      @AJ-em2rb 3 года назад +2

      that's fair because that's were the f2.8 makes the biggest difference. in a controlled lighting situation, there's little difference. it's in rough situations where you find out why one costs double the price of the other.

    My issue is I started using blackmagic and now have a handful of amazing fuji lenses that I cant use. Im thinking it would make more sense to switch to canon at this point or just have a shitload of lenses. I should have just got one lens and actually learned portraiture instead of spending thousands to take pictures of my bulldog haha.

      100-400mm f/4-f5.6, unless the lighting is really bad, then the 200mm f/2 with 1.4x tele (giving you a 420mm f/2.8). The 50-140 is decent (and really good for small events), but in this case I think it will have you constantly wishing you had more reach.
