- Fire Emblem games almost always have a trio of pegasus knights, but which ones of them are good, and which are not? Find out in this tier list video. @@Robin_Robout Yeah. Something I liked about Fates is how customizable everything is, even with certain characters having access to classes that were usually restricted by gender such as Fighter and Troubadour.

looks like you forgot shigure from fates. constance from 3 houses could also count since she joins as a dark flier, but excluding her is understandable if you haven't played cindered shadows

You can technically get Shigure as early as chapter 6-7 in birthright and revelation while in those games you can get caeldori early as the chapter after Sabaki joins

I used Ingrid in my SIlver Snow maddening route, and she was one of the only viable units by the end thanks to her massive speed growths.
I strongly agree, without Ingrid and her insane dodges, I wouldn't have defeated Edelgard and later Nemesis on the Golden Deer route. She was one of the best units in that maddening run.

Mekkkah, as the prophet of the Claude!Fee church, you wound me. Do you know the benefits of a Claude!Fee? She gets holy blood. Holy blood! This means instead of the pitiful C rank staffs that Fee normally gets on promotion, only letting her use Heal and Mend, she can now use every staff in the freaking game! (Aside from her brother's Valkyria.) This means you can have a flier with Physic, or Fortify, or Ward, or whatever you need! Sure, her combat will be less than stellar, but the sheer utility you get from having a staff flier is too much for me to sit down and let you write her off as this being her "worst incarnation."
She can't use Rescue or Fortify. But Restore/Recover/Physic are very nice things for her to have, and the high resistance makes her ignore all the status staffs in the last two chapters. She's a bit shaky early on (though still fine because inheritance can fix most of her issues) but I'd say Claude!Fee is outright her best incarnation for chapter 10/Final. She still kills dark mages easily and has solid combat against most other units, but also brings very good staff utility (she's the best Restore user in the game due to having more move than anyone else except for Leif, whose resistance can get him put to sleep) with no fear of status staffs or non-boss magic attackers.
I thought the holy blood made it so it was boosted up to A rank. Was I wrong?
@@greenstat1c Minor holy blood only boosts rank by one, so since Falcon Knight has C staffs normally she ends up at B.
Aah, okay. Even still, Claude!Fee is still far from her "worst appearance". That would have to go to, like, Arden
@@greenstat1c Arguable, since Arden gives her higher str/def than Claude, so that Fee is better at 1-range combat. It's not like she needs the speed to double. Claude!Fee isn't really bad though considering how good it makes her magic, and sometimes the use of Physic is nice.

Subaki and Hinoka are pretty accurate. Hinoka is a royal, but she isn't completely broken and Subaki is a sky knight without a speed stat.
Re: Ingrid. I got around her awful durability at the start by setting heras Byleth's Adjunct so she levelled up alongside Byleth until she got to a point where she was useful. After that, she was a crucial part of a lot of maps such as remire village and any that needed switches or levers pulled.
She's so good. She really is a power house and a great utility unit. It also helps that fliers were significantly buffed, especially with that Wait/Avoid class bonus.

If FE3 Book 2 Palla already wasn’t that game’s best unit (at least in outdoor maps), she should be in S-tier for that great portrait alone, that game in general has some pretty good ones, that and I love characters who do little poses in their portraits rather than just show their faces.

Real comment time and not Pokemon copypasta:
- I usually recommend forging FE11 Caeda's first Wing Spear to +6 MT because this lets her OHKO armor knights. She only needs +4 MT for cavaliers and horsemen.
- Karin can flier cheese escape maps like chapter 9 and chapter 13 because she can give Leif to someone and then dismount to become rescuable herself. Worth pointing out.
- I don't really see how Fiora can be placed above Florina. Non-LM Florina can catch up to Fiora's base stats by the time she joins, but she also has 4 and a half chapters of availability in which she does a lot of flier / mount utility work. So non-LM Florina would be almost strictly better than Fiora, and LM Florina would blow Fiora out of the water.
I feel like Vanessa is too high in A tier? I know that for LTC especially, she has problems with gaining levels reliably while Seth is plowing through the game and often won't be ready to promote when you need her to, with another problem being how costly the Elysian Whip is to get. And by the time that Cormag joins with another Elysian Whip, he is just better. Basically it seems that she has the same problems as Shanna and Florina. In casual efficiency, these can be worked around because you wouldn't factor in the turn costs of getting items, but if you're going at this slower pace, then Florina should have plenty of opportunities to catch up and perform similarly in the context of her own game.
I think you’re understating Non-LM Florina’s stat problems in relationship to Fiora. Despite FE7’s reputation for low enemy stats, 9 speed on a lance unit with low con is extremely mediocre, and in combination with her low base strength makes her combat extremely bad. She’s liable to get doubled by fast enemies if she equips an iron lance while often being unable to double even Weighed down Pegasus knights, and has awful power when using the slim lance (same as base Rebecca), which rarely even lets her double since many enemy types typically don’t go below 7 speed for a while (Cavs, Nomads, mages), which would be out of range even with a level up. Hector hard mode’s exp penalties also hurt her more than most because she has an awful enemy phase and struggles to get kills the most of your units outside of Rebecca. Meanwhile Fiora has a notably easier time getting leveled because she can actually double most enemies in her join map with a slim lance, she has a decent hard hitting option that she can use and not put herself in extreme danger in the axereaver, and joins before a very good map for leveling units (19x). While she shares many of the problems Florina has, it should be noted that she is significantly faster compared to Florina, with +4/5 AS depending on the weapon used when comparing the two at base, which is a massive gap (7/9 level ups on average), especially since Fiora still isn’t as fast as would be ideal for certain situations (she would like +1 speed/promotion for more consistent doubling with better weapons in the upcoming chapters). This annoyance for Fiora is a significant source of problems for Florina, who wouldn’t consistently double in Fiora’s join chapter trained with a slim lance (about 70% chance of 11+ speed at level 7 trained which isn’t awful, but not consistent, especially since nomads often have 8 speed). Also to be considered is utilizing Florina’s flyer utility often hurts her exp gain as well, since the more you utilize it, the less kills she can get. The amount of bias or luck need for her to be better or even equal to Fiora is massive, since her speed is practically guaranteed to be notably worse, and as stated before, Fiora still doesn’t hit a fair few thresholds at base. Tl;dr - I think that Fiora is a lot better than LM Florina because LM Florina has trash combat for a long time.
@@carpediem6841 We have to set some ground rules for what kind of playstyle we're talking about, because how Florina and Fiora play out greatly depends on whether you're going super fast or taking a bit more time.
If you're going the full LTC route (minus rigging), then Florina and Fiora are both going to be pretty bad combat-wise. You want a falcoknight for chapter 21 and possibly even earlier, which forces you to early promote a pegasus knight and they will be pretty bad for the rest of the game. In that case it is basically a strict comparison of flier utility, where Florina wins by being able to do stuff for a full 5 chapters more than Fiora (because Fiora joins at the tail end of chapter 19). Some of this is pretty important, like dropping Marcus across the cliff in chapter 16. Despite Florina's bad bases, you can grind her the 5 or so levels that she needs to catch up to Fiora's bases in this LTC context, at which point they are functionally similar. So in this case, Florina > Fiora due to availability.
If you're going a casual efficiency approach where you can take a few more turns per map, then Florina can potentially gain a lot more EXP. If she can catch up to Fiora in LTC, then she will surpass Fiora's bases in this casual efficiency context, while still having the availability lead. So in this case, Florina > Fiora due to availability and stats.
I suppose we can disagree about whether this is or isn't undue "favoritism," since your point seems to be that Florina is so bad at fighting that it's extremely hard to do even the basic task of setting up kills for her and funneling EXP into her that way - which I don't really agree with. Nearly all of the pegasus knights on this tier list below S tier (plus Marcia) demand lots of favoritism to perform well enough to deserve their high placements on the tier list.
dondon151 I’m more speaking to casual efficiency rather than LTC, which I’m less familiar with, and I’m sure gives Florina the upper hand. I don’t necessarily think it’s extremely hard to set up kills for Florina, I just think that you have to do it an excessive amount for a unit like Florina, without a very notable payoff since she’ll end up very similar to Fiora, if not a bit worse. I’m not sure what exact level you’re thinking for Florina, but it seems to be rather high if she has stat leads on Fiora (I.e. level 10+), which doesn’t seem possible to me without sending her to 17x and feeding her high level pirates or taking an excessive amount of time on ch 18 to feed her kills. I tend to lean more on the casual efficiency side of things when I play, but I don’t typically spend more than 3 or 4 turns on pirate ship, and dislike using her in 17x if I’m baiting the pirates due to reliability issues with the pirates. Like I said, I’m not sure what exactly the level estimates are for Florina for a given chapter, but it comes off as very high, because Florina needs to beat Fiora in level by a good amount to have any lead in speed or a notable lead in strength. As far as the favoritism thing goes, while I do think some level of favoritism can be extended to Florina, since she has an extremely good class, I find the favoritism needed to get her actual combat up to a passable level very tedious compared to most other units, both on this list, and in general. I suppose my main point of disagreement would be how high of a level she would be, so I’ll end it by asking how high of a level should Florina be in your mind in the maps between her join map and 19.
@@carpediem6841 ruadath had her at L7.67 going into chapter 19. This was in an LTC context, so some rigging was involved, but he also completely skipped chapter 17x. So I'd say those two cancel out approximately, and then when you factor in the slower pace of casual efficiency, level 9-10 seems pretty reasonable. Honestly it could be higher if you wanted to apply extreme favoritism.
dondon151 Well, I suppose that if you bring her to 17x, she’ll be able to reach higher level, but I’m not sure how reasonable getting 2 to 3 extra levels would be without camping out ch 18, or giving her some excessive levels in 16/17x. Then we get into to the problem of her stats at 8/maybe 9, not exactly being better than Fiora. Like I stated in my first response, Florina is notably slower than Fiora, who has some speed issues, and Florina’s speed is notably worse, with a lower average and lower reliability to gain that average. Her strength is slightly better than Fiora at level 9 on average, but it’s hardly a guarantee, and they have very similar growths. I’ll leave it at this - I have a disagreement with saying a unit who needs to be excessively babied for a bad strength/speed trade off with another unit is better than that unit. Even with the extra maps, that has to considered with the excessive babying and worse combat for a decent amount of maps after both join

That video is also really old and like I explain, my opinion got a little worse. But yeah also gaps between units in that game are huge. Top 8 leaves room for Rutger, Perceval, Milady, dancer, Alance and then some. Some of these are not S tier.

Kinda object to Cordelia being Mid game. She joins in Chapter 7 of a 25 chapter game, that's pretty early.
I can't help but feel like someone at IS really, really liked their OC, the Whitewings.
I feel that Hinoka is a bit underrated, her bases are extremelly high for her level, and her growths are stupidly good, she doesn't have a real weak stat at any point of the game.
Also Falcoknights on Fates can use staves, so you can easily rescue units or heal with their high mobility.
A fates run that i made, I directly made Hinoka spear fighter at level 10, and she became way better than Oboro, and Oboro isn't a mediocre unit.
Looking more at the tier, and where Sumia is, yeah, she should be there, but idk, just felt to point that out.

To help you with the Fates fliers:
• In Birthright, Hinoka is a very solid unit with good bases and good growths thanks to being a royal. She's one of the few mounted units in Hoshido, which automatically makes her viable: rescue-dropping, avoiding terrain like swamps, water, acid and deserts, gains staves as a Falcon Knight. Her personal skill gives +2 damage to all allies within 2 spaces, and she comes with the Guard Naginata, a weaker Steel Naginata without the -3 Speed and instead gives +5 Def/Res; in addition to her already solid defenses of 9 and 15, she now has 14 Def and 20 Res, making her a flying tank if need be. Nobody can use C lances yet, and the only competition are Subaki and Oboro. She comes with Darting Blow, pushing her speed to 21 when initiating. Even her base speed of 16 is only rivaled by Kaze whose damage output is lower. She's also a good candidate for the Bolt Naginata. I feel like Hinoka is better than Sumia, as while Sumia is great, she needs some babysitting and requires to be paired with Frederick or Kellam to be viable when she joins, while Hinoka is good to go immediately.
• In Revelation, she's not as amazing, as she joins much later and competes with Camilla who joins earlier and is stronger, even if slower and less accurate, but she remains solid.
• Subaki... is not great. HOWEVER, he's not useless, far from it. His combat is below average, but he makes great use of his flying advantages, in the same way as Shanna and Karin. He joins 1 chapter and 3 levels before Hinoka, but already has the same Skill, and Defense as Hinoka with 1 less point in HP and Strength. His HP & Defense growths are good and he has an amazing Skill growth. Combined with his personal skill that gives him +15 Hit/Avo when at full HP and the availability of the Guard Naginata, Subaki can become a reliable bulky flier that never misses. Sadly, his offense isn't good at all; by the halfway point, he's already started falling off a bit depending on his growths, and by the final quarter... yeah, forget using him for any offense. A solid option is to early promote him into Falcon Knight and work on his staff rank to turn him into a bulky flying healer and status inflicter. In Birthright, I'd say he's easily better than Clair, for a similar reason to Hinoka vs Sumia. He doesn't require babysit and can take hits; unlike Clair, his offense drops, but he's viable from the start and remains useful, even if said utility changes.
• Same concept for Revelation, but worse. Hinoka joins later, so he can't take advantage of the Guard Naginata she comes with, you have access to Camilla early, and the lack of Hinoka makes Reina's presence even more impactful than in BR. Use him for flying utility, then bench when Reina arrives.

I disagree on Subaki being bad. He joins extremely early in both routes he's avaiable in, which is extremely useful in Rev, due to him being the only flier for a while (that alone makes him a great unit in Rev).
He doesn't have the best stats of the roster, but he is in a game where there are a lot of ways to circumvent stat deficienies, such as pair up, reclasses or tonics. And even with that aspect removed, he is surprisingly tanky, which not many units in Birthright can claim. And when completely falls off stat-wise, Ryoma will handle all the combat anyway. Also, prepromoting him to Falcoknight enables all kinds of rescue-strats, due to rescue having fixed range and requiring an E rank.

sumia and chrom build support really fast and give each other enough speed to double even on lunatic
if you solo you can probably grab galeforce around midgame

Sumia x Chrom is a bad pairing, Chrom doesn't give Sumia what she needs, str and def. Frederick does that, and Sumia gives Freddy speed.
Very happy to see this. Pegasus Knight is clearly the best class in Fire Emblem. And no, Shadow Dragon being the first one I played doesn't colour my opinion at all...
Sumia is amazing on Hard Mode, useful from start to finish. Lunatic she is relegated to pair up duty but she does that really good.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 music is so good I'm having a hard time concentrating on what you're saying.
I once had a Florina that capped like 4 stats 3 or so chapters before endgame. Pretty much carried me through the whole game. Good times...

I think the biggest problem with subaki is that Hinoka joins 1 chapter after him and is just better in every aspect. He is useful to transport units in that chapter because it's a desert chapter though. Then a few chapters later you will get Reina and you know how good that girl is. Soon after that Scarlet joins as well and Takumi can promote into a flier too so there are a so many better options. The only good thing that subaki has to offer is his daughter (who is also better then him but not worth picking over the others) and a reclass to a samurai which can turn him in a dodge tank... When his HP are full. And instead of reclassing him you could reclass jakob into an early game Great Knight who get's exp like an unpromoted unit. Subaki has his use in the escape chapter but that goes for every flier because the "rescue mechanic" in this game doesn't require constitution. But if you really want to have 3 fliers at that point of the game (or just play him anyway in this chapter it's a good candidate to be skipped) you could S Rank Silas with someone to catch the Boss of sophies chapter. And while I think that Hinoka isn't that great as well, Subaki is just outpowered by everyone else. Even Hana is more useful if you reclass her to a cleric because after her promotion in a priestess she can use her stronger offensive stat plus reaching S Rank Staffs. But that's another story.
In conclusion: Subaki is not completly trash - but there are so many other units that he can't keep up with after a short amount of time. Investing in other units is much more worth.

Yes, his name is Subaki. No str, utility for one chapter in Revelations (The wind tribe one) cuz he is the only one who can fly and then he's useless.
I haven't played Revelations, I just played Birthright hard so far. I'm gonna finish conquest eventually but in BR he was... fine i guess. Honestly i spent more time just using him as someone to fill a character slot while the big boys did all the work.
His personal skill is one of the best, though.
If you give him every single resource possible with no extra stat boosts or whatever, he can solo the game with Corrin in Birthright. That doesn’t mean anything though because I was able to do it with even Hana, anyone with a Def stat can solo Birthright easily. Of course, in a normal playthrough with no babying, he’s trash.

If Claude is Fee's dad, she gets B staves on promotion, which lets her use warp, recover, physic, and restore, but I don't know how much better or worse that makes her considering what it does to her skills and stats.
Im very biased as Marcia is my favorite FE character but Im glad you just barely put her in S tier lol, in PoR shes kind of insane
imo shes the best character in PoR after Titania, because she has decent str growth, high spd growth, and her def/res growths arent terrible, not to mention she has decent bases (8 str 11 spd at level 5). And you already mentioned how shes a little underleveled when she joins, but can be offset with BXP, and can use the full guard which you get almost exactly halfway in the game. Not to mention that you can also forge her a max MT weapon (or multiple) because you get so much money in Tellius. You also get her before most cavs, since we know PoR is just a cav dominant game, as the only ones you have at that point are Oscar and Titania, though you do get Kieran soon after

The moment you mentioned Clair I was thinking about how ridersbane carried her through the early levels but it probably would've been better on Clive, and then you said the exact same thing a minute later.
Also I did play through all of part two without Palla and Catria. It was the worst thing ever.

Not quite the same as a tier list idea but I would love to see a list of niche usage units and what they can contribute to their respective games. Things like your Canas strats in FE7 negative and dark bishop seteth are really funny but also interesting because they're unique applications of units you don't usually see. Doesn't have to be a concrete ranking, but it would be cool to have a bunch of one-off uses for units

In Golden Deer, I made Ingrid into a Dark Flier because her magic was higher than her Strength so I trained her in Reason and Swords for Hexblade and she was a beast

Units you could include for the next part are child characters from awakening/fates like shigure. for three houses, what you explained for flayn also goes for manuela. also constance is dark flier (the only native one afaik). as you made elincia count, i think that one shoud too.
I think he left put constance cause dark fliers aren't totally Pegasus knights. Plus dlc.

Not really the same. That's purely lore based: Minerva cannot start as a Pegasus, so you never see her as such. Reina quite literally has all the Pegasus skills which directly shows how she didn't start as an archer into Kinshi instead. Hence she was a Pegasus quite obviously.
As for Mekkah not including her, I think Reina should have been on a pre promoted tier list instead along with Scarlett. Simply because her bases, class and weapon rank are too good to compare to non promoted mid game Pegasus.

Fee with Claude as her father is actually pretty good from my experience. She gets B in staves and can fly around using physic, and magic swords keep her damage fine.
Giving the first peg an angelic robe and watching them take off (no pun intended) is one of my absolute favorite things in Fire Emblem. Now, if they crash and burn instead... that hurts. But I’ll take that risk.
Though it'd make the list way too long I think the Wyvern rider and Pegasus rider tier lists should be combined, since they behave similarly in most games and having an easy comparison between them is pretty nice
I'll need to watch this one. I've always been super unimpressed by Pegasus knights because they just don't ever do the damage I need them to.
Marcia is still fantastic in FE9 Maniac Mode. The big difference is that she does fall off late; so does literally everyone eventually except for Ike, but it happens a little faster for Marcia due to her lower STR cap and lack of access to axes, meaning she stops being able to reliably ORKO enemies with forged Silver weapons sooner than units like Jill or the paladins (though to be clear, this effect is worse for Titania than for Marcia, because even at level 20 there are caps she can't even reach). On the flip side, Marcia is so incredibly valuable early in the game that it more or less makes up for the late drop off - the flying utility is even more valuable when, e.g., there are more siege tomes and the siege tomes are more threatening.

Hinoka isn't terrible but when you have takumi or ryoma around it's kind of pointless to have her.
But if you are lucky with ingrid oh god she massacres everything in sight. She might be low on defense sometimes but it doesn't matter when you have 60 speed.

She doesn't hit like a wet noodle unless you've neglected to grow her strength. It's ironic but she's slightly worse as a Pegasus than she would be as a brigand without flight.
Ingrid shines in a class that boosts her strenght growth rate: make her a wyvern lord and she'll get to a 50% strenght growth, then give her deathblow and you're ready to go, great strenght and amazing speed paired together.

I know Ingrid is supposed to be a pegasus knight, but just yesterday I finished a playthrough using wyvern lord Ingrid, she was amazing in that class.
I’m new to the series and wanted to let some units die for drama but I always seemed to lose Flo’Rina first by accident and reset. I can’t let Lyn’s girlfriend die! I can definitely see them as one of the best types of units, they’re like helicopters airdropping troops and supplies.

I think it's quite funny going from latin word for woman (Femina) to a different name (with no origin nor meaning consensus but female form of Herman is one I like) but still kinda of means the same thing to an English speaker. I can just assume for heroes whoever was assigned to naming duty thought fem was a bit lewd and found a good escape clause.

"If her dad was Claude, then she [Fee] is probably at her worst." - Have to disagree with this one. Having Claude as her father means Fee will get access to B-rank staves, such as Recover, Physic, and Restore, upon promotion. Moreover, her boosted magic stat lets her do serious work with the Light Brand, or other magical swords. And while her attack stat hurts, I still found her one-rounding high-HP low-defense enemies (like Dark Mages) with the Brave Lance (which she should probably have from her time of joining). The biggest boon, though, is her high Resistance stat (base of 9, growth of 35%, +5 upon promotion). This makes her immune to most enemy status staves, while taking little damage from siege tomes. I found her invaluable on the Endgame map due to this; Fee could safely take out the squads of Fenrir/Sleep/Silence Dark Mages just chilling out in the mountains, some of whom were inaccessible to my grounded units. I would consider Claude!Fee a solid B-tier unit.
As for the Fates units, I definitely wouldn't call Subaki trash. He has weirdly low speed, and not the best strength, but it's balanced out by surprisingly high defenses. Plus, he's got flying mobility, which he can use to help other units get around through the Pair Up system. I do think C-tier is fair, considering the competition, but I'd make him a high C. Hinoka is debatably A-rank on Birthright, where she joins early, but her late jointime on Revelation definitely hurts her. Ironically, Reina works better as the "earlygame Pegasus" when it comes to Rev. Hinoka, though, I would call a B-rank on Rev; she still has flying mobility, good-enough-stats, and ability to Dragon's Vein.

I agree with your comment about Fee since it´s impossible to have a bad Fee. Reina is more of an early game prepromote so in rev don´t think she qualifies for this one. Conquest is the only Fates route i played but i´ve heard the pegasus knights are pretty bad at combat but still flying + rally and possibly staffs might grant them enough utility outside of that
Subaki's flying utility and bulk are useful in REV until you get other better flyers like Berula or Camilla. He just gets outclassed pretty quickly sadly.
In BR he's a lot worse. Almost every BR is route and the way maps are designed means that flying utility isn't as useful as it is in something like FE6. He also doesn't start off with very good combat and because BR gives you most of the army in the earlygame he just gets benched usually. After promotion he can preform nicely, but almost anyone can in BR.
On Ingrid I disagree.
Shifting her from Peg to Wyvern Rider improves her ovetall Str rather than keeping her in the Peg class and wait for Falcon Knight. Her str points will drastically improve from what I have seen, but that's me.
Wyvern Lord generally add on to her weaknesses making her a more wellrounded unit, patching her defense and strength instead of adding to her speed and Res.
I disagree with Clair being so low, one of your statements about other hnits needed Lance's isnt the best. Forsyth isnt that great, Lukas won't see much combat on Alms open maps, and Clive is utter garbage(at least in Echoes), you get Zeke later but that's Way later and Mathilda is the only other worthwhile unit to use. Clair is honestly no bad when it comes to Alms route
Clair is complete garbage. Trash base str, trash base HP, trash base defense, trash base level. Alm route is so full of archers Clair is not safe anywhere. Whatever isn't a bow unit kills Clair in 2 hits and Clair does 1x2 damage to it. Clive on the other hand is pretty solid, good base str, good base HP, good base def, and salvageable spd (same base spd as Clair btw). He can help all throughout Act 3 and Act 4, no rule says you can't use both Clive and Mathilda.
@@Juan-zs6jt I never said you cant use both Clive and Mathilda but Mathilda comes halfway through act 2 which is far worse then Clair coming in halfway through Act 1. Clive is alright at first hes a slightly less bulky more movable Lukas but that's his only feat. At least later on Clair gets effectiveness agasint Monsters. What you described is literally the pegasus stereotype. Which can be fixed by stat fountains and such(at least in Echoes.
@@kai_824 Clair's effectiveness against monsters means jack because you barely fight monsters in Alm's. Clair's strength is so trash she wouldn't be able to kill them. Silver Sword Kliff, mages, and Hunter's Volley are much better at killing at monsters because they are good at killing enemies period. Fountains! Clair doesn't have any claim to those. 2 Spd for Silque to get Warp, 1 Spd for Paladin Clive. 3 Magic for Silque. No early fountains left for Clair. Even if she takes them, she is not gonna kill anything. She is a pegasus stereotype that actually happens, the other earlygame pegasus knights overcome their weakenesses by being ferries or having actual base stats. Clair's base stats are total trash and she cannot ferry.
She was actually on my final team, she was better than Est, but couldn't keep up with Palla and Catria. She was good regardless though, one shotted or two shotted a couple of enemies.
Well as for Clive, I benched him as soon as I could cus he was constantly either dying, missing or not dealing enough damage (it's been a year since I played Echoes but I remember fucking TOBIN saving Clive from enemies before, Clair on the other hand had WAY more survivability because she constantly dodged or engaged monsters/mage units well
EDIT: Clive has a 1 Res :'D he is basically useless after the game picks up with Witches, Nuibaba's abode and so on.
Ingrid is an interesting case. She can get alert stance fairly quickly and has a high speed growth so she serves as an excellent dodge tank mid to late game. This automatically makes her better than many of the other pegasus knights who just kinda get hit and die. However, she isnt the best dodge tank in the game so that makes it a little awkward to rank her in regards to other pegasus knights.
Gonna comment on early TRS pegasus knights
Sasha: really shitty start as princess but u need try to get her to promo before split 1 and promotion has her one mastery point away from Levin Swords which are busted on outdoor maps and dominates most of midgame especially on Runan Route. Kinda suffers lategame due to indoors where Pegasus Knights lose a lot of magic which hurts their ability to use Levins. She gets Vantage at level 8 and paragon at level 10 with adept at 15 in top of being a strong candidate for Super Proof. Draco promo can make her a little bit better if u do it late game since she is indoors. B tier
Martel: earlygame pegasus with lots of mobility, starts with 5 wpn level but has sufficient time to get to Levin which is 8 wpn level in TRS. Performs as well as Sasha roughly once she gets there but can potentially get to levins earlier and not as bad of a start compared to Sasha and gets earth saint which is a decent skill where she does a critical hit ignoring terrain bonuses. A tier
Frau: Joins map 15 on Holmes route but is a mastery potion away from using Levin Swords at base and is a strong candidate for it at that point in the game where it's like a map or two after she joins. Gets Anti-Evil at 25 which is basically Slayer and comes at a relatively convenient point in the game (late split 2 to split 3) in either Runan or Holmes route where u fight monsters more frequently at that stage in the game. Suffers same problem as other pegasus knights where her combat kinda blows indoors but she is a good candidate for dragon flute if you are going to pick one for late game promotion. Going to give her A tier since she comes early enough and roughly does as well as Sasha and Martel from the moment she joins to the end of the game.
I think that most TRS players would place Martel in the same echelon of units as Narron and Raffin. She's generally considered one of the best units in the game and is an easy placement in S tier. The chapter 1 WLV Plus practically has her name written on it because it transforms her from having iffy combat to amazing flying 1-2 range.
Sasha is just Martel with 10 chapters of investment before she pays off and does kind of the same thing with a higher lategame ceiling. Having a second pegasus knight is good because you can split them up between Runan and Holmes. Probably A tier based on being Martel without an earlygame.
Frau I have never used seriously, but she joins 10-11 chapters later than Martel with nearly identical base stats? I don't see how she could even be in the same tier as Sasha, who not only has a couple of chapters of availability as pegasus knight, but will also have much better stats. She just has diminishing returns when you already have Martel, Raffin, and potentially Sasha as leveled up fliers, and unlike Martel, she can't claim an easy WLV Plus to get her out of an offensive rut. You can make her work, but it takes her time to get going and she already joins halfway into the game. I'd put her in B tier at best.
I have found that Ingrid solo's maps. Completely on her own. Byleth and her; And she's f*cking great. This was maddening before dlc. Then after, I'm in golden deer right now and she is still soloing part two maps with the chalice. Silver sword plus Gives her atk and it's light enough so she doesn't get weighed down. Her only drawback is of course, the armor knights. But flying over and passed them to boss kill is always an option
Shigure and Caeldori are missing, they'd be in mid-late
As someone who just recently did a lunatic Awakening run, Sumia is definitely a good unit, but not overpowered. Did the Frederick pairing and it helped both of them, Frederick more with doubling early game units and Sumia with bulk midgame. Falcoknights having staves and rescue being E rank and mass buyable meant that even when Sumia stopped being a reliable juggernaut (Awakening scaling gets scary late game) she could still contribute with teleporting Robin around and other units away from danger. Plus they get rally speed at level 5 which helps for hitting certain benchmarks. In hard mode you can probably go dark flier for more juggernauting potential. I know this is anecdotal but it's my general feel on how she played. This run wasn't using any grinding and only a few paralogues (The first four for Donnel/Anna, the one for Tiki and the one for Morgan) for added context; were I to do more paralogues she probably could've held up better late game. Overall I agree with her placement on this list in the A tier, just wanted to add my two cents since you said you were lacking much experience with her.
Hard Mode Sumia is pretty busted. Juggernaut earlygame and assists warpskips lategame.
What's actually important is that Mekkah likes Xenoblade music
I'm actually liking Ingrid in my Blue Lions maddening run. Her overkill speed is actually necessary in this mode to double a lot of things that all my other units can't (and my Byleth and Dimitri are both speed screwed) and she benefits a lot from being a flier way earlier than everyone else. She paid off way quicker than Sylvain did. That said, I focused a lot on the main group in preparation for Reunion Before Dawn so I've neglected all the faculty like Catherine in favour of continuing to train weaker students.
