Awesome watch. As a recovering putterholic, I am proud to say I am now only a laboholic. About a year ago, I bought a stock DF2.1 off of eBay. My first time using it, I shot 5 strokes lower than my average. It wasn’t a particularly good ball-striking round but for some reason putting immediately made more sense. I decided that there was really something to this. I decided to get fitted and commit. A year and a half later, I have sold off every other putter I owned (30!! Yikes) and will not play anything else. I am in love with these things and have bought more than I care to admit. I urge anyone interested to really consider a broomstick - they have changed my world. There has never been a club in the history of the game that does more for you than this. When i hear guys talking about their release during the putting stroke or whatnot, I just think to myself how lucky I am to not have to deal with that garbage any longer. Everyone playing anything else is at a disadvantage.
Great interview Brian - always great seeing you in full equipment geek mode. We fellow equipment nerds enjoy these interviews - thanks again! Sam describes the process you go through with moving to a L.A.B. putter - this is well worth the time to watch for people that have or are contemplating moving to a L.A.B. golf putter
I’d be interested in knowing if you ever torn apart your Mezz.1 and looked at the weighting configuration. My Mezz is setup as follows: top row-12,16,16,16,14 (74 grams) bottom row-4,6,10,6,14 (40 grams). The first number in each group are the outside weights on the toe area. Does anyone else think that the weighting configuration is kind of off (74 vs 40)?Thoughts?
I love LAB putters. However, I really wish they offer a standard grip. I just cannot get used to their stragne grip. Putter is all about being personal. You are smart, but don't force your smart ideas on other people please. Just give an option for a standard grip.
I think the distance control has always been really consistent. The grooved face puts great forward roll on the ball, no skidding or hopping. I haven't had any issues with stability on off center shots, ball stays on target very well.
@@kevinseroski6348 it was used on EBay but yeah. Happened to be my exact specs but I got a crazy deal because the guy personalized it with his name on it.
Nice interview. I DM’d you when I was loving my DF2.1, turns out I just couldn’t get over the looks. Definitely looked like a branding iron. I went to club champion with it and got a SamPutt lab fitting which is independent of putter shape/style etc. it purely measures your stroke path, length, loft, lie angle and how much toe hang is needed. Turns out I went in knowing I liked the Odyssey Eleven Tour line with a slant neck and custom ordered it to length, lie and SW. The fitter needed to bend the lie angle even flatter to 62.5 degrees and got the loft correct too at 3 degrees. Sold the DF2.1 on eBay got about 1/2 of my initial money back and don’t regret it. The white hot face on the eleven is simply the best feeling putter that I’ve ever played. My big issue is if it was that great why aren’t any pros (except Adam Scott and one other I can’t remember his name) using it. At the pro level I think they work off of muscle memory and are ingrained to release the putter and have some rotation through the ball. I too have a slight arcing stroke and my SamPutt lab stats showed that.
Wrong white hot is too soft.At a high level you need feed back that's why tiger woods never used a white hot...Also DF2.1 is way more forgiving than eleven tour putter.....
@@goutfromfriedokra7099 not exactly The majority of the putters on all tours especially the LPGA and champions tours use a odyssey w white hot face. Most have the new stroke lab technology w counterbalanced shafts. Feel off the face is purely subjective, just because tiger woods doesn’t use a white hot face putter doesn’t mean it’s no good. The DF2.1 maybe more forgiving but the looks is atrocious and how much forgiveness does one need on a 10-20 foot putt when your moving the putter head at 2-3 mph ? Can’t compare to a driver moving at 100 + mph. Forgiveness in a putter is way overrated.

I am using a B.2 putter since two years. The best club in my bag and a lot of fun playing it.
Love this interview. Great company. I’m hoping Lab gets some more cool head cover options.

Awesome interview. Very interesting technology here. Thanks Brian.
10:37 - Bowling balls actually HAVE more weight on one side. They're balanced to curve/hook, creating more striking potential.
What is the target swingweight for the new Mezz 1 Max?

What is the feel like or direction issues or distance with off centre misses for a mature golfers

I had LAB and it lacked the feel. Cobra 3 D is amzing feel with SIK face.
ebay has those lamkin deep etched corded putter grips at $18.99 or best offer with free shipping he or she has a box of them!
Got a DF1 to the specs I was for for a Mezz that's on order. 30-31 putts first two 18. Just snuck in 9....12 putts. This shit is real.
Hey Ben, what shaft do you have in the DF?
