Oly, Thanks for the HDFURY Arcana suggestion, But as I get my feet wet, I was really looking for an inexpensive DV-to-HDR processor on the low end. I'm not really understanding what you mentioned about the JMGO N1 not having the capability to keep HDR active for the EZCoo device to work its magic. I see menu settings on the N1 for enabling HDR ; choosing Light or Dark and even SDR. My basic understanding of DV processing devices like the HDFury and EZCOO devices is that they output the converted LLDV signal as HDR and the projector just has to have the capability to accept an HDR signal. Am I missing something. Thanks!
So the HDFURY includes the 'HDR' metadata within the LLDV signal which allows the JMGO to show the signal in the correct manner so that the image is not washed out. The Ezcoo only spoofs the Apple TV, Roku, NVIDIA etc. to think the JMGO can show LLDV but it does not include the HDR METADATA signal which is why it is a washed out image. I am currently in touch with Ezcoo trying to see if we can get one of their more affordable models to include that HDR signal which would be the holy grail....cheap and HDR...fingers crossed!

I noticed this while watching the super bowl and they would switch cameras and it would appear and disappear as they changed source material, ie cameras. Or maybe it was the broadcast itself.
Sometimes I find any fats moving video will create some distortion in the video, and yes, there is actually screen door on any source when you are up close to the screen, a side effect of the DLP still being 1080p in effect. This N1 is by all means not perfect but it is indeed the best I have used in a long time. Hey Oly! Still waiting for my Ezcoo to arrive but am interested if you managed to find the correct EDID for use with the JMGO N1 Ultra. Also wondering if you ever see the Dolby Vision identifier come up on the JMGO on-screen display when playing back Dolby Vision content? Also interested in seeing how to dial in that Netflix colour adjustment perhaps in a future video. Love your work!
Thanks for the kind words indeed and watching my videos. Just a bit confused here. From what I understand, we need to set the projector to hdr mode, otherwise the LLDV doesn't work? So what is the point if the Jmgo cannot be manually set to hdr mode?
Well it does affect your signal from a cable box for example...when watching hockey there is an increase in pop and color giving it a much more full experience making it more enjoyable to watch.
Hi, I just got this but 2.1 and I’m getting Dolby vision on my projector but is a little wash out I have the epson cinema 3800 do you wish eudi will be the best option. But I’m really amazed that I’m able to get DV thanks to you I found this device I was on the market for the 8k vroom but to me the price is to high.
So I have since learned that in order for this to work the way it was meant to, you have to be able to manually set the projector to HDR mode, if you can do that with the 3800 then it will display properly. It is actually showing LLDV, it just need the HDR to work properly. That is the difference in what the HDFURYs do is that they add HDR data to the signal so the projector stays in HDR mode. I hope that helps👍
@@OlyGoalie67 thanks a lot for the fast reply I just notice that on your description. My projector has two options under the HDR menu. One is dynamic range and signal status. This signal status I can change to hdr 10, auto, sdr and HLG. But when the projector received hdr signal you are able to switch the signal status otherwise the signal status still sdr. Excellent video. I was considering getting an HD fury to try to get Dolby Vision on my Benq Projector but was worried about the price. This is a non brainer. A quick question - can you connect the box to a Mac to update the EDID settings? Is this difficult? I can't seem to find any videos on You Tube showing how to do this step by step (for a mac - there is one for a PC).
Hey Phillip, thanks for watching... unfortunately there is an issue that you don't get full Dolby Vision as with an Ezcoo, you have to manually be able to turn on HDR , which you can't do on the N1 Ultra. This is why you must have an HD FURY. The HD FURY allows you to include the HDR metadata in that Dolby Vision stream so that it keeps the HDR on giving you the image as it was intended to look. I recommend looking for a used HD FURY. The Ezcoo does give the N1 the ability to show the low latency Dolby Vision but unfortunately it's not perfect.
You need to manually put the projector into HDR mode (HDR gamma or EOTF, and rec 2020) to make this work. Your projector may not make this possible, in which case you need to step up to an HDFury device that can inject an HDR flag into the signal to trigger HDR mode on your projector).
I'm not sure the N1 Ultra has the ability to manually select the color profiles such as REC 2020 but I will dig a little deeper into the settings...thanks for the advice.
@@OlyGoalie67 color profile and gamma are the key. The edid could be set to tell your players not to use rec2020 color space, but they will have to use PQ EOTF otherwise known as HDR gamma. So if the N1 can be manually put into HDR mode, you can make this work, I think. Then the question becomes what is the optimum peak brightness for the N1 built in HDR gamma (PQ EOTF)? Does it want a HDR signal mapped to 1000 nits? 500 nits? 350 nits? I would guess 1000 nits but you may have to ask the manufacturer.

@OlyGoalie67 Thanks heaps. I've found an arcana 2, hopefully that one will work. Never used anything like it before, so hopefully easy enough to set up. Appreciate your videos. Awesome insight, especially for the n1 ultra.
@@mattmoe3466 thanks Matt...one important setting is the LLDV-HDR is set to on so that it sends the HDR signal...here is an invite for the HDFURY Discord for Vertex 2...lots of great help and people there.

By the way, my bad on the usb is not c but mini....sorry
Sorry, I tried using the Ezcoo SP12H2 in an AppleTV 4k and my JMGO N1 Ultra, but although ATV automatically recognized the Dolby Vision capability I only got washed colors and lots of dropped frames. What I'm doing wrong?
Unfortunately you are doing nothing wrong...😔 We have discovered that because the N1 Ultra cannot manually set the HDR feature to on, those washed out colors are the side effect. I am discussing with JMGO now to try to add a manual 'on' control for HDR. As far as the dropped frames goes, I did not have any issue with dropped frames when using the Ezcoo...I have however switched to the HDFury Arcana for my Low Latency Dolby Vision as it allows the HDR metadata to be included with the Dolby Vision signal so that the N1 Ultra displays it correctly and it is amazing! I will be doing a new video soon on that as well...and thanks for watching!
@@OlyGoalie67 Which Arcana the original or the Arcana 2? I have the possibility to buy the original for 100€
@@PedroViana Hey Pedro, I am using the Arcana 1 and it works amazingly well...and that is a great price to boot! I paid $150 CAD for mine and very happy I did so. If you do pick one up don't forget to go into settings under LLDV and make sure you have LLDV-HDR on, that is what makes the magic work...again, I will be posting a new video with the Arcana set up and the N1...very exciting stuff!
@@OlyGoalie67 thanks, What I want is to have Dolby Vision and Amos, not interested in ARC/eARC, Will get Dolby Vision with the Apple TV 4K and the JMGO N1 Ultra?
@@PedroViana yes indeed, I will hopefully have my ARCANA video up this weekend and that will help explain things a little better 😄
As I see this to use this device you need a TV or projector that is hdr
You are correct, one that you can force the HDR mode to stay on otherwise it will be a slightly washed out image...it doesn't look horrible if you can't force it, it just isn't ideal.
Thank you!
Thank you for watching
Hi Oly, so would you say it resolves the JMGO refusal to adopt Dolby Vision? Also, can you review the remote you are using?
It does not I'm afraid as we have no way of forcing HDR mode to stay on hence the 'washed out' image...I mean it still looks good but it is not how it was intended. I did do a review of the lower end version of the Sofabaton remote so I may consider doing one on the higher end...see what spare time allows.
Thank you.
Thanks Mark for watching!
Is there a 4k 120 ver?
I don't think there is but you can check out the website to verify...
I try this with a BenQ w5700 not working the projector don’t go in hdr in Dolby vision video :/
Sorry to hear that, I wish all projectors would have a forced HDR mode....would make things so much easier.
@@OlyGoalie67 that’s true have only auto but I think with a fury hd with force Dolby Vision maybe this will work
@@botr7 yes, the Fury has a force HDR metadata to include the HDR signal into what is sent to the projector 👍
@@OlyGoalie67 or what do you think by this splitter, a custom firmware will fix it?
@@botr7 it all depends if your display or projector has the ability to default or force on HDR mode, if it does, it will work fine.
Did you find a better firmware? And in case, do you have a link?;)
I went with the bt2020 326 EDID within the Epson LS12000 folder in the list. Works better but still not perfect.

@@OlyGoalie67 great. I’ll start with that one. Thanks for the videos!
@@futtis my pleasure and thanks for watching!
How odd@lie67. I cant seem to find any of the two EDID's you have recommended (Epson LS1200 326 NON HDR10+ PLUS EDID and bt2020 326 EDID) in my listing options. The ones that I tried that were close to those are giving me flat washed out colors on my JMGO N1 Ultra. Where exactly can I find these EDID's? Is there another download source? Also are there any specific related forums that cover the use of the SP12H2 in combo with the JMGO N1 Ultra that you could share?
@@osvaldoalfaro136 there is only a forum on the use of the Ezcoo in general

And as far as the files go it is in that download file here...

It should be in the Epson LS12000 file the first or second file that in the non hdr10+ version...I hope that helps!
What the difference in the two links besides price?
The higher price is HDMI 2.1 and can do CEC bypass👍
Thanks!

@OlyGoalie67 Trying to download / install the programmer. It wanted me to sign up for drop box for some reason. Then I thought I had it when I tried to install/run it. Windows freaked out. It told me not trusted. I did the do it anyway option . It still said no and gave me about 15 messages that the file contains a virus. So
I'm just lost. I'm kind of scared to keep clicking on things. I did watch The Other video. The link I need from that video no longer works. That's why I needed the other option. Idk.
does it works with cec?
I haven't tried that yet but I believe this model does not...you need to go to the $89 unit to get that ability.
I can attest to the fact that this does not work with CEC. I demoed mine yesterday after having received it last week. No matter what I did, it did not work with the CEC. Goalie, are you certain that it will work if I get the higher price model? TIA.
As I mentioned in another comment it does not work with CEC. I am however not certain of whether it works with the higher price model. I can however I tested the fact that the Dolby vision does work, for certain? And it looks FANTASTIC!
At first I thought I was just experiencing a placebo effect,
So I decided to try with some material that I was not happy with previously. A definite improvement was noticed. Well worth the money, and if the higher price model works with CEC, that would save loads of frustration! 😮
@@paulj9286 the higher 2.1 version does allow for CEC 👍
@@paulj9286 that is the major difference between the lower model and the more expensive 2.1 version is the CEC. The only thing I'm not 100% certain on is if the EDID firmware upgrades that are available for the 2.0 version will also work on the 2.1. there is an AVS Forum that you could look to verify where it specifically speaks to the higher model as well.
